From the fabulous restaurants to the divine spas and from the trendy beach clubs to the jaw-dropping villas, it’s little secret we love Seminyak. But sometimes you need to try something new – and if you save a little money on the side, all the better! Join us for a tour of Batubelig, one of the best kept secrets in Bali.

Batubelig – Orientation

Batubelig is a small neighbourhood sandwiched between Seminyak, Canggu, Kerobokan and Umalas. As is always the case in Bali, it’s hard to give definitive coordinates where one area ends and another one begins. You’ll routinely see hotels and restaurants in Batubelig describing themselves as being located in Seminyak, Kerobokan, Canggu, North Seminyak, North Kuta… and the list goes on.

Batubelig centres around the main drag of Jalan Batu Belig from which smaller side streets jut out towards Batubelig Beach and further inland.

Why You Should Stay in Batubelig

Batubelig offers a super strategic location for travellers looking to experience Bali to the fullest (and maybe saving a few dollars on the side). Batubelig is located just 10 minutes from the restaurants, beach clubs and spas of Seminyak and the same goes for the surf beaches and hipster cafes of Canggu. If you’re feeling really energetic, you could actually walk from Batubelig to Potato Head Beach Club in about 20 minutes. By car or motorbike, the trip takes just under 10 minutes.

And yet… While Bali’s most sought-after neighbourhood is almost close enough to touch, Batubelig is a more affordable option to staying in the heart of Seminyak. This means you get the best of both worlds: an easy location that’s close to the action – without blowing your budget.

Pools and the Beach

Wherever you’re staying in Batubelig, you’re bound to be just minutes away from the beach. Batubelig Beach is far less crowded than those in Petitenget and Seminyak, but the sunset views are just as grand. Like everywhere on the island, just make sure you always swim between the yellow flags which indicate safe swimming conditions.

There’s also a cool beach bar right on Batubelig Beach. 707 Beach Berm is a laidback venue with a deck dotted with colourful beanbags and the air filled with trendy beats. It’s best to head over around sunset for a round (or three) of sundowners.

Besides the beach, Batubelig is attracting water babies with the newly-opened Cabina Bali pool club. This pastel-hued restaurant has a beautiful pool and offers trendy cuisine – their floating breakfast has fast become one of the most Instagrammed meals in Bali. If you’re bringing the kids, Splash Water Park is also within a short 10-minute drive.

Restaurants & Cafes

Jalan Batu Belig is just two kilometres long but packs a lot of culinary ambition into those metres. The dining scene down this trendy street is incredibly varied – you might even go for the cliché and say there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re craving gluten free pasta, trendy vegan food, a stiff cup of coffee or just a juicy burger, you’ll find it all just strolling down Jalan Batu Belig.
