When staying in Thailand the one thing I look forward to more than the beaches is delicious Thai food. Staying at Baan Capo, a 4-bedroom villa on the beachfront location of Bang Rak I was presently delighted with my favourite dishes as well as a beachfront setting.

Having not arranged meals prior to arrival I asked the wonderful husband and wife team if there was a menu available. Out came a comprehensive menu with a variety of options to choose from. Meals are charged at the cost of the groceries plus a 20% surcharge which makes eating in cheaper than eating out. Take it from us, order in on the first night and plan your restaurant visits for later on.

Baan Capo’s Beachfront WOW Factor

Baan Capo has direct beach access and spectacular ocean views that will take your breath away as you enter. The pool deck has plenty of sun loungers, cushioned couches, and a canopied ‘couples chair’ for a romantic moment. The lounge area offers a prime spot to watch Koh Samui’s dramatic sunsets.

We swam in the pool, we swam in the ocean; we swam in the morning, we swam in the evening. If we spent any more time in the water we might have evolved into an amphibious form!

Baan Capo’s Beautiful Bedrooms

The sound of the ocean will lull you to sleep in each of the four elegant bedrooms, furnished with serene tones and teak wood vaulted ceilings. Ocean views, plush king beds, and open access to the pool deck add luxury and convenience to the two master bedrooms that open to the pool deck.

Two more bedrooms with two twin beds in each (with two extra pull-out beds available for an extra fee) open up to a tropical garden courtyard with outdoor seating inside. All bedrooms have a flat-screen TV and chic ensuite bathrooms with outdoor rain shower in a private tropical garden, indoor shower, double vanities and dressing areas.

Fisherman’s Village

If you decide to venture out, 10 minutes down the road is the popular Fisherman’s Village where you’ll find a selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.

The Big Buddha

Koh Samui’s big buddha is also a short drive from the villa, when you can climb the stairs leading up to the 12-metre-high statue known as Wat Phra Yai.

There is no admission fee to visit the Big Buddha, however there is a dress code (singlets and short shorts / skirts are not allowed) so please respect local customs. Sarongs are available to cover yourself. What I love is this beautiful temple is it’s open daily to visit so all locals and foreign guests are welcome. Down below there is a market with street stalls selling knick-knacks from all over Thailand and yummy street stalls if you are game.

How do I get to Baan Capo, Koh Samui?

Baan Capo is located about 10 minutes from the Koh Samui airport. You can fly direct from major cities including Kuala Lumpur and Singapore or you can do what we did and fly from Phuket which is only 45 minutes and allows you to explore both locations in Thailand.
