Getting There
BY BOAT
Numerous fast boat services bring tourists from Bali to Lombok. The voyage takes between 2 to 2.5 hours. Depending on the travel agent, season and the route the ticket price can vary.
BY PLANE
Although it is possible to get to Senggigi, Lombok over land or water, the best way is to fly.
AIRPORT TRANSFER
It can take anywhere between 1 to 1.5 hours to reach Senggigi from Lombok International Airport (a.k.a. Bandara Udara Internasional Airport) depending on traffic. Ministry of Villas can arrange a chauffeur to greet you upon arrival and escort you to your villa.
AIRPORT TAXI
Alternatively, there are several taxi companies available at the arrival level: Airport Taksi Koperasi, Blue Bird and Express Taxi. Make sure you have agreed on a price or metered rate with a taxi driver before getting into the vehicle.
Getting Around
There are plenty of options, so we’ve ranked them according to our recommendations for first-time travellers:
PRIVATE CAR
Ministry of Villas can arrange a private car and chauffeur for you. Depending on which villa you are staying in, the cost for the private car and chauffeur can vary, so it’s recommended to contact our Ministry of Villas team to get the complete information about the private transfers.
TAXI
The most common taxi widely available in Senggigi is Lombok Taksi. You can flag one down in the street, request a pick-up by phone, or find one at designated taxi ranks (tourist attractions and other popular areas). There are other taxi operators in Lombok: ‘Blue Bird’ and white coloured ‘Express Taxi’. All taxis in Lombok are equipped with meters, which should be used by drivers at all times.
RENTAL SCOOTER
The preferred way of exploring Senggigi, like many other parts of Lombok, is by rented motorbike. There are numerous rental shops spread around Senggigi so opt a trustworthy company, and make sure the bike is in proper mechanical condition. Most important: you must have an international drivers license on your person at all times otherwise the local police can issue you a ticket with a summons to appear in court. And, of course, make sure you wear a helmet.
RENTAL CAR
Car hire in Senggigi is widely available at most hotels, and it’s the most efficient way to get around the western areas as the traffic here is light and finding a parking place is not a problem.
BOAT
A local outrigger boat can be chartered on the Senggigi beaches either from the designated travel agent (the additional commission will be charged) or directly from the boatmen, however, note that a language problem can occur.
BICYCLE
Due to the reasonably light traffic, getting around by bicycle is an excellent way to explore the area at your own pace and get a unique cultural experience. There are a cycle tour operator and multiple rental shops dotting Senggigi.
