Getting There
BY BOAT
Numerous fast boat services bring tourists from Bali to Lombok. The voyage takes between 2 to 2.5 hours. Depending on the travel agent, season and the route the ticket price can vary.
BY PLANE
Although it is possible to get to Tanjung, Lombok over land or water, the best way is to fly.
AIRPORT AND PIER TRANSFERS
It takes around 2 hours to reach Tanjung from Lombok International Airport (a.k.a. Bandara Udara International Airport) depending on traffic. Ministry of Villas can arrange a chauffeur to greet you upon arrival and escort you to your villa.
AIRPORT TAXI
Alternatively, there are several taxi companies available at the arrival level: Airport Taksi Koperasi, Blue Bird and Express Taxi. Make sure you have agreed on a price or metered rate with a taxi driver before getting into the vehicle.
Getting Around
There are plenty of options, so we’ve ranked them according to our recommendations for first-time travellers:
PRIVATE CAR
Ministry of Villas can arrange a private car and chauffeur for you. Depending on which villa you are staying in, the cost for the private car and chauffeur can vary, so it’s recommended to contact our Ministry of Villas team to get the complete information about the private transfers.
TAXI
The most common taxis available in Tanjung are Bluebird and Express Taksi with cars equipped with meters and ratio dispatch system. It might be challenging to find a taxi down the street, however, you can always require a taxi by phone or through your hotel or villa manager.
RENTAL SCOOTER
There are not too many rental shops in Tanjung, so it is recommended to hire a motorbike in the nearby Senggigi area if you prefer moving around on two wheels. Before renting a scooter make sure the bike is in proper mechanical condition. Most important: you must have an international drivers license on your person at all times otherwise the local police can issue you a ticket with a summons to appear in court. And, of course, make sure you wear a helmet.
RENTAL CAR
Even though you can find a rental shop in Tanjung, the selection might be limited, so it is recommended to rent a car at one of the numerous shops spread around Tanjung.
BOAT
You can get from Senggigi to Tanjung by a speedboat or small charter vessel if the road route is not your preferred way to move around. The speedboats can be found at the Teluk Nare beach to the south from Bangsal pier. Speed boat charters can also be hired for sightseeing trips or as a private transfer to the nearby Gili islands.
BICYCLE
Due to the reasonably light traffic in Tanjung getting around by bicycle is a great way to explore the area at your own pace and get a unique cultural experience. Ask at your hotel reception to rent a bicycle or your villa manager to organise the cycle trips.
