    “Beautiful island!”

We had a lovely and relaxing 3 days at this little slice of paradise! From the moment that we arrived, we were looked after wonderfully by all of the staff in the resort, from bar and restaurant staff to the gardeners.

Despite it’s small size, the island did not feel too crowded, and there are pushbikes available to cycle around. Quite often we had the infinity pool all to ourselves! Such a great view of the ocean. Our beach villa was gorgeous, with a clean and spacious bathroom with outdoor shower and pool.

A highlight for us was the food which we really enjoyed; al a carte lunch which was beautifully presented and a great selection at the buffet every evening with live cooking stations.
Similar to most places in the Maldives, it’s a quiet island and most people seem to go to bed very early! But there was still some great evening entertainment and we enjoyed the live acoustic music. A beautiful island to relax and chill out!

“The best resort I have had the pleasure of staying!!”

I am writing this review in part to let everyone know just how amazing the Amaya Resort is and in part to thank the staff there for making my stay such an amazing and memorable one in Maldives. From the moment I stepped off the boat every staff was warm and welcoming. The island was laid back and quiet, not overwhelming and touristy in any way.

The resort itself is stunning. Gorgeous views, beaches and pool. The colours simply have to be seen to be believed. The restaurants and the food were also all excellent. The resort is quite large but they provide extra activities at the resort or out on to the sea. The onsite Pool was wonderful to swim in with all of the different views of Maldivian ocean. What really set this resort apart for me, however, was the service level. Despite being a large resort, everyone (I mean everyone, from the reception staff, cleaning staff, drivers and restaurant staff etc.) all addressed me by name from day one and never passed with a pleasant greeting.

I had the absolute best time lounging on my deck and in my private pool which was part of my villa. I had special treats and champagne delivered and were thoroughly spoiled by the resort. Coming home to reality has been quite difficult, I must say. My stay at the Amaya Resort was like a dream and i cannot recommend this resort more highly. A bucket list destination that does not disappoint. I definitely will be back again!

It was an amazing experience. The scenery was flawless and all the activities were well worth the expense. The location is highly recommended as it lived up to all our expectations.

The service was just as humble and excellent. The staff members were nothing but polite and always expressed their interest to get to know our needs and wants to cater accordingly.

The rooms very cozy and comfortable. The fresh air at the water villa was one of our favourite memories. All in all, It was a pleasure to enjoy our vacation with the people at Amaya.

    “Absolut paradise, Excellent diving location”

We just returned from two week’s lovely vacation to this absolut paradise. This was our third trip to Maldives, first to Amaya. We wanted to go to South Ari becouse of its great diving. First I need to say, that if you are looking for a place with lots of people to hang with in the bar and big diving groups, this is not for you. For us this was all we wanted. We wanted to have easy vacation, dive in quite a small group and just relax.

From the moment we landed to the island, everyone knew who we are and they were always very interested to hear how we are. I have never felt so important before. We said that we are diving a lot, and we did, everyday. Diving at South Ari is very good, a lot more big fish than some of the atolls we have visited before. We saw plenty of mantas, whaleshark, sharks, turtles, nemos, them all.

We had all inclusive and we really loved it as well. The Chef made all our wishes to come true – all my favorites after coming hungry to the restaurant after diving. One day they even postponed the lunch so that we could have time to eat, when came back a bit late. Everyday they asked, if we have any special wishes. I had a birthday the following week we left, so last night they even gave me a surprise cake and we got special seafood dinner as well. So all details were truly taken into consideration. Thanks Chef for your lovely hospitality!

The service: Like mentioned, they all knew us by our names, Our own waiter, Shifu (sorry if I spell this wrong), was so lovely, from the first day he remembered how I like my drinks and coffee. Thank you for the shark souvenier, it is now reminding us of you! The Chef, naturally, and his crew. We loved the chilis they gave us to take home and prepare some Maldivian specialities. Nazeeh and Akvaar and all other people at the pool bar – thank you! Like said, I had a birthday coming up and my husband wanted to surprise me to have an uppgrade to Water Villa ( We stayed in lovely beach villa the first week), So they did all this behind my back with Catherine and her collegue. That was such a lovely surprise to move that beuatiful water villa where all baby sharks and baby eagle rays swam by. Thank you Catherine for taking such a good care of us! I cannot remember all the names, but it seems that you have quite a good team there! The last day the team was cleaning the reef and for divers like us, that is very important.

Diving with Dive blue was also very good. Zameer and Tracy really took us to great places, and made sure that we saw penty of all fishes! It was so easy, in the morning we walked into the boat, dived two tanks, and walked to lunch. My gear has never been washed so well before! Fishlife is very good at South Ari, reefs are a bit more deep, so you can see bigger fish more. Only one we missed was that Frog Fish, so something to come back for.

Yes, maybe in-villa beer and sodas could be part of AI, but that is the only one minor suggestion. As a summary: villas great, restaurant great, Diving great, but that service – that was just suberb! You people rock! We miss you already – you and nemos! We’ll keep on following you at Instagram.

    Truly a luxurious get away!

Spent the holiday with family at Amaya resort. Immediately was blown away by the beautiful sea plane flight to the island. Staff greated us at the plane and boated us back to the resort. Everything was flawless. Food was great with plenty of options for the whole family. Villas were perfect and very modern. Beaches were very clean! The staff was very helpful and made the stay more then enjoyable. On-site scuba shop was quaint but divemaster was very knowledgeable and safe. We made a few dives at surrounding areas and were the only ones on the charter, it felt like a private dive with just 2 of us and the divemaster. I would reccomend Amaya to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Only complaint is that the wifi was spotty in our villa, but i was reading a book on the beach for most of the time anyway!

    Beautiful island!

Me and my husband had been to Amaya Kuda Rah for our honeymoon and we just loved the place. This place is a great holidaying spot for the couples as well as the families. The staffs were very friendly throughout our stay starting from the time we landed at the airport. We stayed at the ocean pool villa and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. If you are lucky, then you might get a chance to see the dolphins. Also, the food and the ambience in the restaurant were exceptional. We had stayed on full board basis. We had opted for an island hopping and got a chance to interact with the locals. I highly recommend this beautiful resort.

    Lovely place for a holiday

Staff were excellent thoughout out whole stay. We stayed for 9 days, we have delays on arrival flights which the hotel accomodated fantasically. The transfer meet and greet staff at male were exceptional and stayed with us after our delays to ensure that the process went smoothly from thereon. Excellent also on departure. On the whole for what the resort offered the holiday was enjoyable. However, there are some areas where improvements could be made. They limit your wifi usage to 2 devices and the speed is only adequate for limited internet surfing and receiving emails, we stayed in a water bungalow so we couldn’t comment on other rooms speeds. The management were very accomodating as we have 7 devices for business as we did eventually connect all of them.

The room was modern and well appointed with a coffee machine, tea making facilities, tv, safe etc. Improvement could be made to the refined finishing as this was somewhat messy in some areas – paint on glass, grout missing to tiles in pool etc. The water bungalow as a location and having its own plunge pool was delightful. The island has a buffet restaurant used for all meals with no separate ala carte restaurant – this was only offered via the bar or in villa dining, which is a shame and let the place down as the standard of the resort really does require a proper ala carte restuarant. At meal times you have your own waiter who looks after you during your stay – Afzal was very attentive and added to our experience. The island is very beautiful, immaculately clean and tidy and as you would expect from the maldives the idylic island holiday. We stayed on Half board basis.

    Great Island Resort to relax!

If you are looking for a place to relax and forget about everything else for a while this is the place. Great Staff that greets you always with a smile. Special thanks to Julie at Guest Relations and Afsal at the Restaurant and everyone else that looked after us. The accommodations are spacious, well furnished (we had a beach villa with pool) and well kept. The restaurant serves great tasting food in a buffet setting that varies every day. Huge selection of various dishes from all over the world. The beach is beautiful although the reef was covered with man made barriers to protect from the waves. Still there are plenty of fish to see snorkeling or you can take a boat ride to a large reef not too far from the Resort. Excellent SPA and professional masseuse. An army of people each day rake leaves, comb the beach, sweep patios, etc .

    Great job Amaya team!

    Great Visit. Amazing country!

Staff were very friendly and the manager was on top of everything. The person serving us at meals was very attentive and looked after us well. We had a few issues with hot water and the pool the first 2 nights. The phone also stopped working. It was fixed but unfortunately a few cold showers and walking to reception each time to report it. Thus the four star rather than five star rating. The Island is amazing and fantastic snorkelling all the way around. I’m sure resorts of a similar standard would be more expensive.

Paradise like it should be for newlyweds!

This review has been long due! My husband and I took this trip for part of our honeymoon and from the moment we landed in Male, it was a smooth transition to get our seaplane tickets thanks to the help of our Amaya Resort employee (sorry forgot his name, but super helpful!).

We waited at the seaplane terminal for a little over an hr, used our meal voucher provided by Amaya, and boarded our seaplane, where it dropped us off on a barge in the middle of the ocean! That was already quite an adventure, but there’s more! The Amaya Resort had this traditional Maldivian boat that picked us up from where we landed from our seaplane and it took us to our final destination at the Resort.

We were greeted by friendly employees, such as Sabah and Catherine. This resort had everything we only could have imagined: gorgeous sunrise/sunset, beautiful views of the sea, excursions (highly recommend the whale shark snorkel), and great food! Buffet style of food for breakfast and dinner, but you could also add on an extra for a romantic dinner by the beach (superb, including lobster and dessert!).

We wished the beach access from our water villa and other parts of the beach wasn’t very rocky, but once we got in the water, we had forgotten about it! Definitely recommend having water shoes! The pool was so nice and relaxing with the lounge music playing in the background. There’s lots of fish as you swim toward the sea wall and beyond, and don’t be afraid of the baby black tip reef ! We even got to see some spotted eagle rays! We had an amazing time from the very beginning and we were saddened to leave our little piece of paradise…. thank you Catherine, Sabah, Dilshah, and the rest of the Amaya Kuda Rah for making our stay so welcoming and memorable! We definitely highly recommend this place.

    Quite place for relaxing

Very nice property to spend quiet 3-4 days for relaxation. There is nothing else you can do. Property is amazing with private beach , some villas with private pool . Quality of accessories in room top class. While the food is good variety is limited.

Make sure you take all inclusive package otherwise tends to be expensive and be prepared to live in isolation as one way sea plane trip per person costs $ 330.

In summary , wonderful place to be at least once in life time.

Relaxing paradise with wonderful spa and staff

Our family spent Christmas at the resort and it was the best Christmas present ever! From our arrival via seaplane (amazing views along the 20-minute flight to the resort), our stay at the resort was nothing short of spectacular. The staff was attentive and responsive and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. From the General Manager to the spa staff to the restaurant staff to the gardeners and everyone in between — they addressed us by name and checked to be sure we had what we needed and were enjoying our stay.

The buffet food is amazing and we were shocked by the variety and quality of the food, especially since they are an island in the middle of the ocean! We enjoyed facials and massages at the spa and they were some of the best treatments we’ve ever received. My daughter lives in Manhattan and couldn’t believe the quality and level of service at the spa. My husband and son went scuba diving two days and saw white tip sharks, moray eel, sting rays, sea turtles, leopard shark and other assorted tropical fish. Our 5-day visit was restful and a wonderful way to spend our family holiday.
