Simply amazing – thank-you!!!
The staff at Villa Ambalama were amazing and made our stay incredibly special. The location is beautiful and tranquil and just what we needed after our wedding in Nusa Dua. The Villa itself is a work of art and I think better than the photos represent on the website. We will definitely be back and special thanks to Ayu and her team!

Spend Some Time in Paradise
Ambalama provided the perfect venue for spending a great time with friends while also enjoying some romantic evenings with your partner. The villa rooms are well appointed and very private and there are many wonderful public spaces to enjoy the views and the company of friends. The staff was delightful and accommodating to all reasonable requests and the food was divine. The Villa manager Ayu provided that personal and special touch that allowed us to also connect with Balinese culture. It was a truly magical experience

You check-in, and you really don’t want to ever check-out
Ambalama is an oasis of calm and peace in the hustle and bustle of Bali. The rooms are spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. Staff is super friendly, and the chef fabulous. Canggu is the place to be, but we hardly went out, except for afternoon trips to nearby Eccho Beach or a short motorcycle ride to pittoresque Cemagi town. . We had the best holiday in many many years! Highly recommended!

Modern design, interesting architecture paired with stunning Balinese gardens make this a hidden gem in Cemagi, just outside Canggu.

Exquisite!
I visited Ambalama Villa in Bali in late January-February 2020. This is a true Bucket list vacation! The hosts Chris and Nic were there for the week and our group knew them so we got to spend the week with them. The staff took care of our every need and Gede, the chef make some pretty scrumptious food! Day trips were lined up as well as massages in our villas! We are totally looking forward to visiting again!!

Trip of a lifetime! Spectacula! Amazing!
I am not a person who posts about services or locations very often, but I could not pass up a great recommendation for Ambalama! The care and attention at the villas is top notch. They are caring, compassionate and truly went above and beyond our entire stay! We had food sensitivities and they accommodated us are each meal. We arranged to have some services at the villa, such as massages. They made it happen in our private villa and made sure we were happy with the people who came. The driver that they hired to take us around Bali and show us the sights was wonderful and made sure we were able to see all the fun places that Bali has to offer. The bed was so comfortable that we came home and wished we were back on the bed in the villa!! We cant recommend Ambalama enough!!!

So welcoming and friendly
I recently had a wonderful 6 night stay at Ambalama with my sister. It was a fantastic setting around the pool area for a function that was held for approx 70 guests on one of those nights. Ayu and her team went out of their way to make our stay such a delight. Nothing is too much trouble …. from organising drivers, special meals, massages, and birthday cakes. As there are only a few villas we were usually the only people in the pool. Heaven! The pool is a perfect temperature and looks over to mountains and rice paddies. Only suggestion I could make would be for a mirror in the bedroom. There is a huge mirror in the outdoor bathroom but it gets a bit hot and sweaty out there. For somewhere to relax and if you wish, to be thoroughly spoiled, Ambalama is perfect.

That extra mile with a smile
Since there are so many reviews about this place I don’t want to repeat them but want to highlight the fact that maintaining such a big property comes with its own challenges, but it’s the attitude of the staff and the management to go the extra mile to resolve the issues in a timely fashion and with a smile made all the difference. I just love the location which has the resort feel to it with rice fields on one side and the sea and temples on the other side. A must visit.

Slice of paradise in the west coast of Bali
I spent a week at Ambalama with friends in September 2018 and had the most wonderful time. The villa was stunning and the staff looked after us wonderfully. We each had our own detached room with outdoor bathrooms which were a treat and the communal areas were perfect for us to meet in the evening. The menu is extensive and food delicious- we ate a variety of local dishes and had some favourites from the healthy menu too. The location is great as you can walk along the beach to Tanah Lot or towards Canggu and another highlight was a cycling tour that was organised to Tegallalang-stunning! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay Chris and the team- could not recommend it more!

An amazing three-generation get-away!
Our family of twelve included elderly grandparents (over 80) and an active 4 year old. We fell in love with Ambalama Villa the moment we stepped off our minibuses and onto the villa’s generous porch. The compound was inviting, modern yet rustic, and well maintained. Ambalama Villa is located about 70 minutes drive from Ngurah Rai Airport, along the southwestern coast of Bali and away from tourist bustle of Kuta and Seminyak. From the villa, a pleasant minute’s walk down a driveway, is the coastline where a temple sits at the end of a pier. From the temple pier, each morning and dusk, we were able to enjoy the wind, the sea view, the breakers crashing onto the black beach of volcanic minerals, and the sunset. The design of the villa is pleasingly linear and uncomplicated with the complexes adequately spaced one to another. Acres of padi field stretch out from one side of the villa. The common areas, which include the pool, dining area, bar and lounges, are thoughtfully located and easily accessible.
The rooms are spacious and private, centred with large comfortable four-poster beds draped with extremely light mosquito nets. The service staff, headed by Ayu, remained almost unseen during our waking hours, yet always seeing to our comfort and ever ready to attend to our most mundane requirements. This is helped that the kitchen, administrative office and smaller service rooms are tucked away together, along one perimeter of the villa, linked by a concealed back corridor. Ayu and her staff were impeccable hosts, always ready with practical suggestions to food, scheduling, sightseeing, transport and other logistics when asked. The chef’s skill was beyond our expectation – I would dare say better than many of the famous local ‘must-dine’ restaurants. He was able to whip up anything we requested – local, other Asian or western cooking, including spicy, nonspicy or less spicy. It, therefore, made sense that we forewent most of our dine-out plans and, instead, chose to dine in, thereby avoiding the traffic congestion and transportation logistics of dining out. Our entire stay at Ambalama Villa was tranquil, wonderfully pleasant and stress-free. We were absolutely pampered from arrival to departure. Our only regret was that we did not plan for a longer vacation. I highly recommend a vacation at Ambalama Villa, Bali.

A piece of idlyllic paradise
Duration of stay : 9 – 16 Jun 2018.
The arranged transfer from the airport to the villa was seamless. The driver Tri who spoke descent English whisked us off to the villa in about 90 mins.
We were cordially greeted with cold towels, welcome drinks and a small snack when we arrived at the villa. Serenity descended even in the darkness of the night where our home away from home was in villa no. 2.
Villa no. 2 was spacious and offered all the comfort and zen that we sought. Taking a shower or bath in the open amongst nature was liberating!
Nothing is short of in this villa – from spaciousness to landscape, architecture, service etc – it’s truly a piece of idyllic paradise found in Ambalama Villa.

Absolutely Incredible
There is literally nothing bad someone could say about this place. The staff are the friendliest people you’ll ever meet and they go above and beyond to meet your needs. The pools, gardens and rooms are always immaculate with a beautiful view of the rice fields and mountains. This place makes you feel like you’re living a different life and I recommend anyone to go stay there even just to see the beautiful craftsman shop of the building

A True Gem
Situated north west of Seminyak along the coast towards Tanah Lot temple, the Ambalama villas more than provide in peace and tranquility what their location lacks in conveniences such as restaurants and bars — if those are what you’re after then you should stay in one of the towns but if you need a relaxing, peaceful, thoughtfully arranged and managed experience then you’d be hard pressed to find better accommodation than Ambalama.
Once you step over the threshold from the driveway and cross the bridge over the ponds and fountains to the entrance pavilion you will be welcomed with refreshing cold towels, drinks and canapes — a charming and much welcome touch after the ardour of your travels.
You’ll notice the beautifully landscaped gardens, planted with local trees and flowers that seem to grow effortlessly in the tropical climate and volcanic soils. You’ll notice the extraordinary driftwood-style bench on which you will be sitting — one of many pieces especially commissioned by the owners, Chris and Nick, for the resort. And you’ll notice the architecture: bold and classically proportioned yet warmly and finely detailed, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship and the unique local materials that Bali has. If you’re observant you’ll have noticed the small shrine by the front gate that the owners had erected — a sensitive nod to the beautiful local cultural traditions of Bali.
You will be surprised by the generous proportions of the bedrooms, the warm materials used to furnish them, the lovely day bed overlooking your tranquil private pond and the gorgeous outdoor bathroom planted with verdant tropical foliage.
When you explore the common areas you’ll be wowed by the 25 metre pool and relaxing poolside pavilion, the comfortable and quiet lounge area upstairs and the spectacular dining area with its fountains, view of the pool and extraordinary furniture.
And throughout, you will be taken care of by Ayu and her team of well-trained, kind and thoughtful staff for whom no request is too onerous, whether it be arranging a driver to tour the island or a special delivery of kweh cakes for an indulgent feast. The chef is good too — try the fried duck (a local speciality). Ambalama is a gem of a place.

Truly Peaceful
This property is truly peaceful, with views across the gardens and neighbouring rice paddy fields. The villa is architecturally designed with many different spaces for lounging, reading, dining and relaxing in the sun or shade.
The staff are very friendly & attentive, they can organise almost any requirements such as in-room massage and beauty therapy. The in-house chef has a broad menu of local and western dishes and they can also cater for healthy wellness options.
The rooms are very private and allow to escape away from the main living and dining area.
It has been an unforgettable experience and I would recommend Ambalama Villa to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat destination.

Modern Architecture, beautiful surroundings, true relaxation
I visited Ambalama earlier this year for a friends birthday celebration. I’ve wanted to return to stay since then. I am here now, and about to depart for the airport at the end of a memorable weekend. Among Bali options, it stands out for its striking architecture and large scale – it feels more like a building that you would expect to would find on the italian riviera – large social areas with great lighting and proportions, designed to entertain groups of people in style. Everywhere that you look in Ambalama is architecturally beautiful. I also love the gardens (I’m a plant nut) – some areas of the villa feel like they are on par with botanical gardens. It is such a pleasure to walk around.
But the main reason to visit is to relax : one day poolside in Ambalama is enough to relieve all the stress of living in (in my case) Singapore. The team are attentive without being intrusive, keeping drinks recharged and making sure everyone is happy.
