Villa Maya

Villa Maya comprises a two-storey villa and a self-contained antique timber joglo house; each is set in its own private seafront garden complete with swimming pool. The main three-bedroom villa offers a choice of living and dining areas-one in an open-sided beachfront pavilion next to a relaxation bale-a massage pavilion, and a seaside sun deck. We often stay at villas so we can understand the level of services they offer and to ensure we offer only villas that we feel guests will enjoy. You can read a little more about our Villa Maya stay.

Perfect for honeymooners, the joglo presents an open-sided sitting/dining area with kitchenette, behind which is a bedroom and bathroom. The joglo boasts its own swimming pool and bordering the beach is a large deck for wedding ceremonies.

Location

Majapahit Beach Villas are located at Pabean Beach down a narrow lane off the Klungkung Bypass, which runs along the east coast and is also known as the Sunrise Road. Bounded by the River Wos, rice fields, tobacco plantations, papaya, banana and coconut groves, the area is blessed with spectacular views extending across the ocean towards the beaches of Sanur and Nusa Dua, the islands of Lembongan, Ceningan and Penida, and the mountains of East Bali.

Pabean was once a small port through which oriental traders brought their products; at low tide you can still see the structure of the old harbour. This glistening black sand stretch of coastline is popular with surfers and beachcombers but swirling currents and a lack of lifeguards make it unsuitable for swimming for all but the most confident of swimmers.

    A wonderful stay

The villa was lovely and staff were extremely attentive. We enjoyed having someone doing the cooking and the meals were delicious with a lot of variety on offer. Our driver provided good insights of places to visit.

Fantastic spot for small family wedding

My wife and I recently got married at Majapahit and we subsequently booked the 3 villas on site. The villas are fantastic with the highlight being villa Maya with its waterfront location and breeze.

The villas themselves are beautiful, although slightly older now. The honeymoon suite attached to Maya was a good area away from the crowd whilst not being separated too far. Location wise approx 20-30mins in car from Sanur.

The staff are unbelievable with nothing too much work or a burden. Wedding reception and ceremony all held on site, with staff helping wedding planners make our day one we will always remember.

Unforgettable Wedding & Holiday at Majapahit Beach Villas

From the moment we arrived at Majapahit Beach Villas, we were greeted by all the lovely staff. We booked all 3 villas in the complex for our wedding to make it more of a wedding holiday for our family and friends than just a destination wedding.

The villas were absolutely magical! They were pristine, well looked after and the grounds were absolutely lovely. It really was paradise! The location on the beach was fantastic – the sunrises, the cool ocean breezes, the waves crashing – it was all absolutely breathtaking! Not to mention the vast ocean views from the balconies of every master bedroom, even the villas that were set back from the ocean.

A huge thank you to all villa staff! A special thanks to our butlers – Dewa, Wayan and Ilou. They felt more like friends and I really hope they enjoyed our stay as well. There was absolutely nothing they could not help us with or do for us including a wonderful welcome tour at each villa, getting a pump and helping us blow up our pool floaties, getting my wedding dress cleaned for me in less than 12 hours (wow!), cooking meals and getting groceries for us often last minute, and helping with little things here and there. I know it is their job but they were just always so happy to help.

The manager Ketut was also wonderful and was there if we needed him. Security was fantastic, not that we ever felt we needed it, and we would often come and go as we pleased at all hours especially early morning to enjoy the sunrises on the gorgeous black sand beaches. The chefs were great and we enjoyed many cooked meals altogether as a group which was lovely.

We never wanted to leave! To book a location for our wedding sight-unseen, we were blown away by the size and location – it was perfect. Our actual wedding day was amazing and guests couldn’t stop raving about the location! The bedrooms in all villas are so spacious each with their own luxurious semi-outdoor ensuite. There was absolutely nothing we could fault.

Our Joglo House was private enough but still felt like part of the group. Only a short drive to Sanur which was never a problem for us or anyone visiting the villas. We hope to come back to Majapahit Beach Villas and stay for another holiday. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else! Thank you for the most beautiful and unforgettable wedding and holiday x

“Great place to get away from it all”

I should preface this review by saying this was our second stay in Bali. We toured the entire island before so were looking for rest, relaxation and seclusion this time around. We left the Raj villa only once and could not believe how quickly the time passed. Dewa and the rest of the staff could not do enough for us. Whatever food or dink we asked for, they complied. We had some problems with the wifi and some things in the bathroom but we alerted the staff and everything was fixed immediately. Our villa had 3 bedrooms and we thought how wonderful it would have been to have vacationed with our friends or family but it was nice just the 2 of us. The back villas have an ocean view from the second floor bedroom and you have use of a deck right on the water. We almost lived in the pool and did not miss swimming in the beach. It is about 45 minutes to Ubud and may not serve as the best base if you want to spend your time touring or going out to dinner in the evenings. As one of the reviewers wrote, the tv’s in the bedrooms were a bit out of date but we did not come to watch tv so did not care. Thanks to all for a wonderful and relaxing stay.

    “The staff make the difference!”

We (family of five with two teenagers and a four year old) spent 10 wonderful days at Majapahit in the Nataraja Villa (one of the back villas) in December 2012. We could not have asked for anything more.

The villas themselves are beautiful – not as pristine as in the photos in the Web-site, but extremely comfortable and liveable in a Balinese way. The outside space was lovely, with orchids, frangipani the pool and lawns. The rooms were spacious and everything seemed to work just fine (it took us a while to get the hang of all the light-switches). I felt from the start that my wife and kids and I could relax here, and we did!.

The food was really excellent. Every meal was beautifully presented and tasty. We worked our way through the menu pretty well and I can strongly recommend the Indonesian dishes, particularly the lemongrass chicken and seafood curry. We ate a lot of sushi and sashimi as well, but everything was good. Our experience of the breakfast pastries: fresh warm sultana scrolls and croissants was great, contrary to one of the other reviews. The toast was white cardboard, but the kids liked it well enough and there was always the option of not eating it. The tropical fruit: pineapple, mango, papaya was beautiful and fresh every day. There was Balinese coffee and tea on tap. In the afternoons, there were banana fritters as snacks.

However, it is the staff who are the stars of this operation. Our houseperson, Iluh and managers Akmal/Ketut were fantastic in making sure we had everything we wanted. They were happy to make bookings for us wherever we wanted to go. When my son left some of his belongings at Waterbom in Kuta, they sent a car to pick it all up. Bagus was an excellent driver, who knew all the best attractions and restaurants in Bali, and devised some great daily programs for us. Our Majapahit experience culminated on the final night with a free Balinese dancing concert from some local village girls, which was charming. Riba gave a host of great massages and spa treatments and braided our four-year old’s hair for free ( a two hour operation).

Majapahit is a little away from Kuta, Semiyat etc. For us, this worked well. We were closer to Ubud and the north of Bali which was where we spent a good deal of our time. However, if you want to go anywhere, you will want a driver. This is a plus: the drivers are great, reasonably priced and know all the best spots.

The beach is black sand. Our four year old insisted on swimming with all the Balinese kids on a Sunday afternoon, and had a fantastic time.

We had no problem with linen: everything was clean. Not crisp, but this is the tropics. DVD and cable worked just fine. Wi-Fi was a bit patchy, but mostly reliable, and free.

Overall our experience was overwhelmingly positive, and we would strongly recommend to others.

    “Lovely villas – great service”

Our stay over new year 11/12 was lovely and peaceful. The villa was large, open air and an oasis of tranquility. The staff from the manager down including the butler, cook and masseuse was first class and I can not speak highly enough of them. Before committing you should be aware that the location is 1hr from the airport with a drive into kuta, nusa dua or jimbaran beach sometimes taking 2 hrs! Ubud is 20 mins in the car which is ideal if you want to go inland but if it’s the beach you are after go somewhere else. The black sand beach by the villas is pretty horrific and not for swimming in. In short if it’s peace and quiet with first class service you are looking for go here. If you want to tour around or go swimming in the sea find somewhere else.
