Shin Shin Overview

Shin Shin is a masterfully built log house located on the scenic outer edge of Hirafu Village in Niseko, Japan. Built by a local Japanese craftsman from logs floated down the river, the chalet was built without using a single bolt. The tongue and groove construction allows the chalet to expand with Niseko’s extreme weather.

The chalet has the warm and cosy feel of an alpine home, with a stone fireplace and a statement Japanese bathtub to warm you up after a day in the snow. The five-bedroom chalet features two bunk bedrooms, creating the perfect setup for families. Shin Shin offers easy access to the ski lifts and restaurants waiting in the heart of the village, with the ski shuttle stop just a few metres away.

Shin Shin Living

Shin Shin was originally designed for two families and the warm and welcoming ambiance and two bunk bedrooms certainly make for a comfortable stay in Niseko. The most striking feature is the winding stairway leading down to the chalet – though the serene mountainside views come in as a close second.

Living Room

The living room centres around a traditional stone fireplace, with plush leather sofas arranged into two seating areas offering the perfect place to relax with the family after a day spent out in the snow. The walls are lined with shelves stocked with ample books. There is also a TV room on the same floor with the bunk rooms, with satellite channels, a DVD player and Apple TV to keep the whole group entertained.

Dining Room

The dining room adjoins the living room through an open doorframe, with a sturdy timber table seating up to 20 guests at a time. The dining area is adjoined by a kitchen that’s fully equipped for preparing home cooked meals, with crockery provided for 20 guests. There’s also an espresso machine for the coffee lovers!

We had such a good time here :) I love the natural timber and the atmosphere it creates – amazing winter vibes!! Everyone, you’re going to love the Japanese bath and views outside from every room. Marvellous stay, 5 stars, thank you Shin Shin.

Shin Shin is such a great chalet with so much character!

The chalet looks unique on the outside and feels so warm and cosy on the inside, you can’t help but admire the craftsmanship that went into building this property. There’s 5 bedrooms but room for up to 14 guests as two rooms have two sets of bunk beds each. Everything is so well thought out – the dining room can also seat 20 people and there’s enough crockery for 20 guests, too.

In a way you feel like you are in a log cabin but with the comforts of a modern chalet. It’s one of the originals in Niseko and a classic. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, large fridge, gas stove and a big dining table for those night you want to stay in. For the other nights, you are within easy reach to the best restaurants, bars and Izakaya’s. Highly recommend staying if you have a family with children as there are 2 bunk rooms for the little ones and a downstairs media room.
