    “Breathtakingly beautiful and amazingly spectacular”

I stayed at Soneva Jani mid Jan 2018 for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon.

    Overall:
The resort is exactly like it appears in the pictures and videos available online. You will not be disappointed by the scenery and sheer natural beauty of this resort. Furthermore, the Soneva team have built this resort in a manner befitting of the natural environment. The balance between nature and man made structures is harmonious and seamless. The location is amazing, the scenic sea-plane trip takes around 1 hour, so take that into account. Furthermore, the timings of the sea planes are somewhat sporadic, you won’t know what time you’re leaving until the day before check out. Which is fine. We were lucky enough to have the last flight out and therefore had a late check out at 3:30pm.

    The Villa:
We stayed in Villa 11. Overall, I would say it has a good position, although there are villas with better positions. That said. I’d not worry too much about selecting a particular villa, they’re all pretty good and fairly private. When we stayed, the resort was at full capacity. You hardly see other people, other than the meals areas.

The villa itself was wonderful. Massive, well designed and comfortable. The slide is a lot of fun. You need to wait for the the tide to come in though, as the lagoon is pretty shallow at times. Amenities were great and plenty of complimentary drinks and snacks are available.

    Service:
Amazing. Attention to detail and personal care were both apparent. Our Miss Friday was Asal, who was wonderful- she was friendly, courteous and professional. She organised all our events. Ibrahim attended to our room. He too was wonderful and professional. He took extra care in making sure we were happy. He even gave us a honeymoon surprise, which my wife absolutely loved. Overall, all staff were friendly, polite and professional. They make an effort to remember your name.

    Food:
The food was brilliant. We had Asian food, Indian, Western, some seafood and the buffet breakfast daily. You won’t be disappoint by the variety of food or the quality of the food Food at The Gathering was always good.

    Attractions/Activities:
-Dolphin cruise: This really is a matter of luck. We spotted the Dolphins for around 2 mins. The cruise was fun and worthwhile either way, but don’t expect a Sea-world type experience.

-Astronomy dinner: Amazing. The stars are clearly visible from the resort due to lack of light pollution. The astronomer was knowledgeable and the dinner was great (although, we found the menu was limited on this occasion).

    – Outdoor cinema/dinner. Great experience. Food was good, movie is good to watch if you have a few hours to relax and unwind. You don’t have to watch the entire movie either way. Eat and jet is also fine!

Snorkeling: Plenty of good spots for snorkeling around the lagoon and just outside it. Ask staff for directions.

    Conclusion:

Do not hesitate to book this resort. Yes it is more expensive than most resorts in The Maldives, but the experience you get will be unforgettable. We’re both very happy with our stay. 10/10.

    “Out of this world!”

Wow! We took about 20 guests to the resort last week and everyone was blown away! Our requests were definitely not the every day ones that they’d be used to but from welcoming an additional 60+ of our other guests from other islands to booking bands, yachts to building stages they did not disappoint. Led by GM Andrew, the team were fantastic. Khadja was our Friday and simply the best, sometimes not sleeping to help us out!! Jarey snd his team were great and made sure every event went without a hitch. The bar guys and James went out of their way to look after all of our guests not to mention every other one of the team who don’t have the word ‘no’ in their vocabulary. As they waved us off there was not a dry eye on the boat. Thank you team Soneva Jani from all at Benefit. X
