Tsukinoki Living

Set foot inside Tsukinoki and you’ll instantly experience the famed Japanese aesthetics. Unmindful of the icy cold winds and snow flakes that constantly assail the walls on the outside, the sleek lines of the predominantly wood interiors radiate warmth and cheer. The twin level elevation simultaneously aims to optimise upon ground floor space and promote a sense of intimacy on the first floor. Discreet lighting lends an enchanting sepia hue to the interiors set in a wood finish and matching shades of brown. The kitchen and dining areas set the mood for intimate dining affairs that you’ll cherish forever. A vantage view of the towering heights of Mt. Yotei is the icing on the proverbial cake.

Skiing down the picturesque slopes around Niseko is bound to give you an all time high but being saddled with loads of wet and soggy clothes can be a daunting proposition. Not to worry as Tsukinoki comes complete with a storage room for all your ski gear. Also included is room for drying your wet clothes. Rest assured, you will not end up stumbling over ski equipment stored in the living room and nor will the odour of wet clothes bother you at Tsukinoki.

Living Room

The living room is an excellent example of Japanese ingenuity at work. The ground floor has been deliberately left open to encompass the kitchen, living and dining areas. The tastefully decorated living room conveys a sense of comfort with low set sofas placed flanking a coffee table. Apart from its much needed warmth, the gas powered fireplace also helps create a subtle distinction between the living and dining areas. The fire burning away cheerfully in the gas fireplace casts enchanting shadows on the wood lined walls of the dining and living areas.

Dining Room

Despite no walls to set it apart, the dining area is compact and sets the tone for camaraderie over endless cups of coffee and hot chocolate. When happy eyes reflect the myriad patterns of the merry fire burning bright in the fireplace, you automatically know it’s time for some music and mellow dance moves. The smart looking kitchen too is equipped to dish out the best in local cuisine as well as anything else that your taste buds crave for.

Tsukinoki Bedrooms

Three bedrooms – one master and two guest rooms – ensure that 8 guests can comfortably settle in for the night to enjoy some quality sleep.

Master Bedroom

On the first floor, the master bedroom allures in an authentic Japanese style. The double bed room is done up in ‘tatami’ style with two standalone futon mattresses spread out on the traditional flooring. You can easily fuse the two single futon mattresses to form a queen size double bed on the floor. After Tsukinoki, you’ll perhaps appreciate that sleeping on the floor can be a fun thing!

Guest Bedrooms

The remaining two bedrooms are located on the ground floor and first floor respectively. Fitted with a single bed and double bunk each, together these bedrooms can accommodate a total of six guests. Two bathrooms and two toilets are strategically placed on each floor for the convenience of guests. However master bedroom guests can directly access the bathroom on the first floor from their room.

Location

Ensconced in a quiet neighbourhood in the lower part of Hirafu village near Niseko, Tsukinoki is centrally located from the tourist perspective. A shuttle bus stop, located a mere stone’s throw away from the lodge, means that ski lifts are no more than ten minutes away. During winter, the shuttle bus service operates from six in the morning to nine in the evening and you can use it for getting around to local hotspots and watering holes for a nightcap. If you’re not the explorer type, step out of Tsukinoki and take in mesmerising views of Mt. Yotei. After sunset, the floodlit ski runs that come alive on the mountain slopes are a bewitching sight too. For the health conscious, the onsen hot spring bath nearby is just what the doctor ordered.
