Located right on the beach in Unawatuna, On the Rocks is perfect for big groups looking to experience the beauty and splendour of Sri Lanka. Shaded by picture-perfect palm trees swaying in the breeze, the villa boasts a sumptuous swimming pool and rambling gardens stretching towards the beach. The interiors are light and fresh, with comfortable lounge and dining for 14 guests. Of the seven bedrooms, four rooms come with twin beds to accommodate combinations of friends.

On the Rocks Living
On the Rocks offers an alluring blend of beach house chic and classic Sri Lankan charm. Divided into two pavilions, the villa overlooks fresh green gardens and out to the clear blue ocean.
Living
The living room is a relaxed space dressed in nautical tones of white and blue with touches of natural wood adding depth and interest. An arrangement of sofas and armchairs dotted with azure pillows offers ample seating around a wooden coffee table.
Dining
The villa’s shaded veranda doubles as a beautiful alfresco dining room, with a long wooden dining table surrounded by water hyacinth chairs waiting to cater to relaxed meals with friends and family.
Garden & Pool
The villa’s beautiful green gardens are characterised by quintessentially Sri Lankan palm trees swaying in the breeze blowing in from the Indian Ocean. From the villa’s blue swimming pool and the arrangement of sun beds which surround it, it’s only a short ramble through the garden to reach the beach.

On the Rocks has seven bedrooms. Three rooms have king-sized beds and four rooms have two single beds. All bedrooms come with ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms echo the classic décor and design of the villa. Of the seven bedrooms, three are located in the main house and four are located in the second pavilion.

On the Rocks is a seven-bedroom villa that’s divided into two buildings. The main house is home to the living and dining areas and three bedrooms. The remaining four bedrooms are located in the second building. The villa has a private swimming pool and offers direct access to the beach.
On the Rocks Staff
Your stay in On the Rocks is made enjoyable by the professional staff. On the Rocks’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly hospitality.
Villa Manager
On the Rocks’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.
Butlers
Butlers are on hand everyday to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.
Chef
The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.

Location
On the Rocks is located directly on the beach in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. Guests enjoy direct access to the beach, which while beautiful, is not suitable for swimming due to strong currents. A short walk along the beach will bring you to a calmer place to swim. It’s also just 100 metres walk down the beach to the famous Angel Beach Club. Iconic Galle Fort is about 20 minutes away by car.

8 of us (including three children) stayed for two weeks in the main house. It is a stunning property. I’d love to call it a home from home but our home is nothing like as lovely. Also at home we don’t have staff to cook delicious food and make everything look tidy and lovely in a very unobtrusive and genuinely relaxing way. We originally booked it during the pandemic and then along came the riots in Sri Lanka so the British Foreign Office told us we couldn’t go. Ministry of Villas displayed such decency and integrity in our dealings with them on these postponements at what must have been a difficult time so I also wanted to thank them for that. Thank you!

Sri Lanka, for me is about fantastic service, beautiful beaches and delicious food, all because we ended up staying in this gorgeous beachfront villa. Shoutout to the villa manager who went out of her way to take me to the hospital when I fell sick. Very patient and caring. The rest of the staff were also amazing in caring for us all. Even with twelve of us travelling together, they gave everyone special attention. The villa is located a few steps from a beach club and about 10 minutes from Dawela street, perfect for shopping for gifts for family back home.

Our stay at On the Rocks was magical beyond all expectations. Oh my god, the beachfront view from the pool was amazing and we spent hours relaxing by the pool. We enjoyed every moment we spent here. Especially, the food prepared by the chef. The only word which can justify this villa is ‘Perfect’. And the icing on the cake is Angel Beach Club is just a few steps away.

On The Rocks is such an apt name – the ocean crashes onto giant rocks at the edge of the property, making it feel even more connected with the ocean. It’s an entirely different experience to other beachfront villas that have a lot of sand between the garden and the water. I just loved waking up to the sound of the ocean and looking out at the waves – which seem so much closer! Best of all, a path took us down to the beach on one corner of the garden where we could enter the surf, so it really does offer the best of both worlds. Inside the living area is so vast and the ceiling so high I felt like a leaf floating between rooms. There were 12 of us and we all fit around the giant dining table, where we spent hours together. Lastly, there is a fabulous beach club called Angel just 100 metres walk down the beach. Loved my time On The Rocks ;)

On The Rocks is truly the perfect destination for a Sri Lankan getaway. I had an amazing time and loved the villa. It is as amazing as the pictures suggest. We were served delicious dishes by the staff. The villa’s beachfront orientation enabled us to enjoy a beautiful sunrise in our own private garden. The best thing I liked is the private pool – which is carefully maintained and the water quality monitoring every day. I had a really comfortable stay – lovely big, comfortable beds. Overall it was wonderful being able to walk straight from your bed, across the beach into the sea!!!

A wonderful villa with only a handful of rooms on a quiet beach, but still very close to Unawatuna to be able to enjoy the activities happening there. The views from the villa are amazing and it feels very secluded. The rooms were very spacious and we had a room with a large balcony overlooking the sea. I would highly recommend you ask for a room with a sea view. Indra, the member of staff there is fantastic, very helpful and cooks a delicious curry. There is a nice garden with lots of palm trees and a pool to. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay and will definitely visit again.

I would like to start with the fact that in Sri Lanka we visited 5 villas for 2 weeks – villa On The Rocks was just perfect, super perfect! The decor is well-kept, all to a very high standard. Perfect location right on the ocean, on a lovely beach, and lots of nice bars nearby. The most important thing for us was the service, a wonderful and professional team that created an excellent service. Chef Madu cooked at the highest level, he also gave us a cooking lesson! Highly recommended
This is our second time to Sri Lanka and Off rocks. This time we chose to stay for 10 days in Dec 2019. We were almost alone at the hotel at the time, so it’s almost a hidden gem. The location of the villa is optimal with direct access to a quiet beach but still close to Unawatuna with it’s restaurants and watersports (fishing and diving). Along the beach in opposite direction you’ll find a good surfspot with boards to rent. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean kept. We recommend ocean view rooms that has verandas to have afternoon tea or drinks at sunset. The hotel has a fantastic employee that can arrange almost whatever You need. Nice garden and pool. We can highly recommend this villa.

This villa is fantastic and one of the best villas I saw during my trip in Sri Lanka. The images don’t do the villa justice as the living room is open plan with the kitchen and dining room and creates a great entertaining space for the group. Bedrooms are upstairs and in the pavilion next to the main building. The rooms have a modern comfortable style, all with brand new beds as of November 2019. I feel the villa ticks all the boxes in terms of style, location, staffing and the beachfront views. 10 out of 10!

Great Stay
Great comfortable house bang on the beach. We were a group of 6 friends who had a wonderful extended weekend in Unawatuna. The property in itself is very tastefully done, and well-maintained. What really did make this place special was the staff who run it. Special thanks to Dhanushka, Samson, and the other wonderful lady whose name I forget now, to have made our stay really special. One night they went out of their way to arrange a BBQ in the garden which was a great touch.
There was a slight misunderstanding on a particular issue which was entirely our fault for having not read an earlier email, but what left us impressed was the way it was handled. We are already planning a return the next year.
Also, forgot to add that the food the chef prepares is the best we have eaten in all of Sri Lanka. Samson’s coconut is on another level and we still dream about it sometimes :)

Fantastic Villa
We think this is the best villa in this price range in Sri Lanka. A beautiful garden directly on the beach. You can walk out of the garden and you have almost the beach for yourself. No one is disturbing you……. The houses are in the middle of the garden with beautiful flowers and of course Palm trees. A nice big swimming pool with salt water makes the garden super. You can have food at a cabana close to the sea, only 10 meters from the sea, but of course, it is possible to eat on the verandas. The rooms are very big and spacious and they have all lofty ceilings, especially the hall – 15 meters. The rooms are nicely furnished with interesting pieces of art and antiques. The rooms are very clean and they have all AC:s. The service was outstanding! I can really recommend Offrocks. We were the only guests who we felt as if it was our own house!

If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with a group of friends (14 pax) or family this is an ideal location. With the beautiful Una beach in close proximity, you have a lovely view of the sunset. The hospitality and care from the staff and the awesome food made by the in-house chef made it a relaxing getaway.
The manager and staff were very accommodating – we had a bbq night and a hopper night (which were part of the full board menu).
The rooms were nice and spacious – but only some rooms have a view of the sea. No tv’s in the rooms so come prepared. Wifi was not the best – but then that’s Sri Lanka for you. Galle fort is about 30 mins drive away if you want a change in the scenery. And Angle beach and Wijeya beach are just a 5 min walk away.

Family Holiday
We had a family reunion with 15 adults and 2 children, the villa just belonged to us for eight days. Everything was just lovely, the villa, the garden the pool the beach at the bottom of the garden, and the staff were wonderful. The cooks would make whatever we wanted, and we all enjoyed the lovely Sri Lankan dishes they served, they even went out of their way to get us a little Christmas Tree with decorations on Christmas Eve for the two children. We all loved and missed the lovely views from the villa.

The optimal choice!
Only by virtue of its location off rocks tops the charts! High ceiling spacious rooms some with large balconies and unique ocean and sunset views, a pool and a huge garden ending right on a secluded peaceful sandy beach yet minutes away from buzzing unawatuna and Galle…..cant get much better…
