Villa Mine Overview
The lavishly spread-out Villa Mine takes the concept of a villa to a whole new level. Surrounded by immense gardens, this hilltop oasis gazes over tropical treetops and out to the Indian Ocean shimmering in the distance. But the stunningly beautiful setting is just part of the appeal. After all, it is not every day that you come across a flawlessly beautiful and exceptionally staffed villa that also features its own private lake. This sprawling estate features a 9,000 square metre garden with a swimmable private lake and a glistening swimming pool for guests to delight in. As is only fitting in this lush setting, life at the villa moves seamlessly between indoor and outdoor spaces. The living and dining pavilion has an open layout and the bedroom pavilion extends to a shaded patio that works as an alfresco living room. Oh, and the billiards pavilion is open sided too! The design strikes the perfect balance between old and new, with grand columns and tiled roofs giving nods to colonial architecture without ever sacrificing an inch of plush modern comfort.
Living Room
The living room is housed in a beautiful open-sided pavilion which gazes over the estate, providing views of the lake, swimming pool, tropical treetops and the clear blue ocean shimmering beyond. A sofa and armchairs arranged around a coffee table offer the perfect setup for admiring the scenery. Shelves stocked with interesting curios, art and design pieces add an artful bohemian touch to the space.
Dining Room
The formal dining area is a fluid extension of the living room. Positioned in the same open-sided pavilion, a generous timber dining table offers ample opportunity for scenic dining, with views gazing over the lake and out to the surrounding greenery. The same building also houses the villa’s beautifully designed kitchen which offers all the crockery, cutlery and appliances needed for preparing delicious meals. If you prefer to dine alfresco, there is another dining table waiting right outside.
Media Room
The villa’s TV room offers the perfect excuse for hosting an epic movie night or bingeing on your latest TV obsession. Located in the same pavilion as four of the bedrooms, this air-conditioned space features a lavishly large sofa positioned in front of a huge flatscreen TV. If you prefer to bury your nose in a great read instead, the TV room also has a good selection of books available.
Games Room
Who’s up for some billiards? The villa features a breezy open-sided games room complete with a pool table. This pavilion opens to splendid views looking over the lake and lush tropical gardens.
Garden
The villa’s sprawling gardens are a fun-filled wonderland all yours to explore. Close to the main house sits an inviting 13-metre-long swimming pool which features a shallow section – ideal for kids to splash and play or for adults to chill out and relax. The pool is lined with sun beds on two sides, with a futuristic metallic sphere adding a touch of the surreal. And this is just the start! Beyond the pool, the villa’s huge gardens feature a swimmable lake and a floodlit skate park – each of these would be a unique find in any villa, but the amazing Villa Mine has both! And let’s not forget about the trampoline and the slackline… Suffice it to say, you won’t run out of things to do at Villa Mine, even if you decide to extend your stay – and honestly, who wouldn’t want to?

Alastair Loxton –
We absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Villa Mine! Sammy, the villa manager and chef, took such incredible care of us and his culinary skills are off the charts! Every meal was perfectly prepared and delicious. His team has an attention to detail that made us feel completely spoiled.
The bedrooms are all equally and beautifully comfortable. Your sheets and pillows feel like clouds :)
We spent one evening having a cozy movie night in the media room watching Brad Pitt driving an F1 on the big screen, and another playing billiards, which got real competitive real quick.
The private skate park blew my mind, although none of us were brave enough to give it a go, it’s such a cool feature.
Sunsets from the top of the hill are absolutely gorgeous, and mornings were equally magical with birdsong drifting through the air. We also had a yogi visit each morning for yoga on the lawn, which was the perfect way to start the day surrounded by nature.
Villa Mine is one of those places that just makes you feel happy. That’s the best way to summarise our stay. So very happy :) We can’t wait to come back!

Our stay at Villa Mine was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Sameey and Thari made us feel completely at home with their warmth and thoughtful attention.
The villa itself is spectacular – elegant, spacious, and stylishly decorated in calming shades of pink, charcoal, and green. With a billiards room, skate bowl, infinity pool, and plenty of serene spots to relax, it offers the perfect mix of luxury and fun. The tropical gardens are beautifully curated, with views over the trees to the ocean, and the sounds of birds, monkeys, and village life adding to the magic.
The food, lovingly prepared by Sameey, was outstanding – the coconut pancakes and vegetarian feast were the best we’ve ever had. Every meal was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented.
Just a short walk down the village streets is Turtle Beach (Dalawella, Unawatuna) – clean, palm-fringed, and full of charm. Watching turtles from the shore and soaking up the relaxed, happy vibe at Wijaya Café was a highlight.

Villa Mine is just incredible! The photos really don’t do justice to how amazing this villa is. I had a great time playing pool with my friends, even though I lost (LOL)! We also enjoyed a cozy movie night together in the media room. The next morning, Chef Sameey kindly showed me around the jogging track inside the villa, it was such a refreshing way to start a sunny day. I truly love this villa!

If you have clicked on this profile for Villa Mine, book the villa! We had the pleasure of staying two nights and nowhere near enough nights. I could have cancelled everywhere else we had planned as I love the style and design of Villa Mine so much. The team is incredible! Sammy is wonderful and an incredible cook – highly recommend the Sri Lankan curry! We will be back as the whole group enjoyed the stay so much. Thanks again for looking after us.

From the moment I arrived at Villa Mine, I was completely blown away! The villa itself is stunning, tastefully designed, immaculately clean, and perfectly positioned to offer one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen.
What made the experience even more special was the food. The chef, Sammy, is absolutely incredible. Every meal was a highlight of the day fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it was a traditional Sri Lankan curry or fresh seafood grilled to perfection, each dish was prepared with so much care and attention. It truly felt like dining at a five star restaurant in the comfort of a private villa.
The team at Villa Mine went above and beyond to make the stay comfortable and memorable. I can’t wait to come back!

We had an amazing stay at Villa Mine. The villa is beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. The garden was lovely and huge. The staff were so kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the Sri Lankan dishes and the wonderful breakfasts each morning.
From the villa, it’s just a short drive to the nearest beach (or 10 minute walk), where we enjoyed swimming, watching the sunset and swimming with the turtles. The location is peaceful and private, yet close to everything, including Galle Fort and some lovely local restaurants.
Prita –
Villa Mine was absolutely amazing and worth every penny! The design is stunning, with well-matched colors and interiors that make you feel both cozy and refreshed at the same time. I was surprised by how much the villa offers: a private skate park, a spacious media room, a peaceful little lake, and a large open lawn perfect for yoga.
The giant disco ball was such a fun touch, and the infinity pool with ocean views was breathtaking. The staff and chef were incredibly helpful, and the food? Always delicious, every meal was a highlight.
It was truly an unforgettable stay. I would love to come back again!
