If one could capture the essence of a dreamy coastal escape in Sri Lanka, it would undoubtedly entail a harmonious blend of idyllic beachfront vistas, seamless indoor-outdoor living and butler service to indulge all senses.
From seamless transitions between villa and beach to indulging in blissful showers amidst nature’s embrace, we were transported to a world where serenity and opulence intertwined – staying at Ubuntu Beach Villas.
Welcome to Extravagance
As we entered the villa, we were greeted warmly with tropical juice, refreshing towels, and smiles all around. The staff had prepared a welcome kit for each of us, complete with room keys and printed WiFi passwords. And to make our stay even more delightful, there were chocolate boxes on our pillows every night and cute towel elephants on our beds, bringing smiles to our faces.
This expansive villa boasts a total of eight bedrooms. Four bedrooms on the ground floor open to a central courtyard garden, while four bedrooms upstairs enjoy mesmerising ocean views with adjoining ensuite bathrooms featuring bathtubs strategically positioned to provide breathtaking views of the expansive ocean vistas.
Seemless Beachfront
Our favourite feature: Ubuntu Beach Villas merges gracefully with the beach immediately in front of the pool area, creating a picturesque paradise. Naturally we spent hours in the pool relaxing and playing games (pool toys provided by our butler).
What started as a friendly game soon turned into a competitive match. We split into two teams and even had our own referee to keep things fair. It was such a memorable experience. The two pools and expansive beach were the canvas for the wonderful memories we created together.
Dining Experience
Following our watery match, we feasted on pizza ordered from the villa’s à la carte menu. Ubuntu Beach Villas serves à la carte to allow guests to order from an array of dishes at any time throughout the day, all prepared by a professional chef.
We dined together each day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were honestly astounded by the vibrancy and abundance of each offering. Ubuntu Beach Villas focuses on catering most seriously, which instilled our team with confidence when recommending the villa to large families and groups of travellers. The larger the group, the more important top-notch organisational skills are required to ensure every guest is catered for.
Breakfast was particularly amazing: we were served a smorgasbord of a) fresh fruit, b) pastries, c) cereal, d) pancakes, e) omelettes, and f) traditional Sri Lankan dishes!
Exploring Mirissa
During our stay at Ubuntu Beach Villas, we were pleasantly surprised by the convenience of exploring the bustling town of Mirissa, only a short drive away.
As we wandered through the charming lanes that lead to Mirissa Beach, our attention was captured by a resounding clamour emanating from a local food vendor. Intrigued, we eagerly approached to see what culinary delight was being prepared.
Our curiosity led us to order the dish that had caused the captivating commotion: Kottu. This Sri Lankan delicacy consists of finely chopped roti combined with a choice of meat or vegetable curry, complemented by scrambled egg, onions, and chillies. The explosion of flavours and the sizzling sounds as it cooked left an indelible impression on our taste buds, leaving us with an irresistible desire to return for more.
Sunrise on Our Final Day
We pledged we wouldn’t miss the sunrise on the last day. So we set our alarms and gathered on the golden sands at 6:30 am to see orange and pink wispy clouds in the sky. Right next to our sun loungers was this beautiful tire swing where we ended up capturing a billion photographs while watching the sunrise.
