We’ve already shared our love for the Canggu neighbourhood in Bali. What was once a hard-core surfers’ borough is all grown up with cool cafes and cute boutiques opening up on the daily. Canggu has even been dubbed the “Brooklyn of Bali” by Vogue Now there’s a new darling in town – Loop Pool & Bar.
Loop Pool & Bar is located at Theanna Eco Villas and Spa. You can easily miss the venue when heading down the über-hip Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong on your way to Echo Beach. But trust us – this hidden hot spot is more than worth visiting.
Day Pass to Paradise
Upon arrival at Loop Pool & Bar, we’re welcomed at the reception that feels like an upscale spa, all lush gardens and soothing koi fish ponds. We inform the staff that we’re here for a swim and just like that, we’re ushered into paradise.
Loop Pool & Bar’s day pass is priced at IDR 150,000 (USD $11). This gives you pool access, a sun lounger and pool towel as well as IDR 100,000 worth of food and beverage credit. Loop also offers fast and steady Wi-Fi connection, though why would waste a single second online at a place like this is beyond me.
All in all, it’s a pretty sweet deal! Before leaping for a fun family day out, it’s good to note that due to safety reasons, the infinity-edged pool is not deemed suitable for kids under 16. The perfect excuse for parents to enjoy a little break on their own!
Jungle Pool to Die For
What first attracted us to visit Loop were the dreamy photos of their infinity pool overlooking the jungle popping up on social media. And once you’re there in person, the pool does not disappoint.
Loop’s pool has a freeform lagoon shape, with the water artfully spilling over to a lower level. The pool is surrounded by lush bamboo, with the leaves rustling in the wind creating a soothing sound. Swim to edge of the pool and you see a river flowing by down below. In a word, it’s pretty much as a close to paradise as you can get.
But the cool thing about Loop is that the pool is not the most beautiful feature. The restaurant is a gorgeous bamboo structure crowned by a thatched roof. And the very best part? We basically have the pool to ourselves. There’s no fighting over sun beds and no drunken crowds in the pool as you might find in many of the hyped-up pool clubs in Bali. Loop is the perfect spot for relaxing, whether that means floating around the pool or taking in the views from the white sun loungers.
Poolside Gourmet
In addition to pool access, Loop’s day pass includes IDR 100,000 worth of food and beverage credit. If you want to be frugal, this is enough for a single dish and drink. We opted for a seafood pizza and cold Bintang beers, a true poolside classic. The cocktails looked tempting as well, especially given the fact that Loop offers a daily happy hour between 3 – 6 pm where buying two cocktails gets you one free drink.
You can also visit the restaurant without getting the pool pass, in which case no minimum spend applies. And really, the views and design are worth checking out even if you don’t feel like getting wet. It’s also a nice touch that there’s a separate area for smokers – a rare treat in Bali, where cigarette smoke tends to be omnipresent.
With its lagoon of a pool and leafy green views, Pool Loop & Bar feels like hidden a jungle oasis. But in reality, you’re within minutes from some of the coolest venues and best surf beaches in Bali. The pool is gorgeous, the drinks are cold, the staff is beyond gracious and the price is more than right. Our advice? Get there now before the crowds descend.
