When choosing a lodging for their next trip, more and more people are leaning towards private holiday rentals. The reasons are obvious: booking a private villa gives you space and privacy that you just can’t get in a hotel.

Well, what if we told you that you don’t have to settle for just private accommodation but instead, you can rent out an entire island?

On Vatuvara Private Islands in Fiji, you can make this dream a reality.

This is not just any old island, either: Vatuvara was once ranked as the most expensive island in the world, with a price tag of USD $75 million.

Villas at Vatuvara

Hugged by the azure waters of the Pacific Ocean, Vatuvara is home to just three private villas. You can choose one of them – or better yet, book all three and literally reign over your own private island.

Each of the three villas – Delana, Vatu and Saku – has one bedroom. All three are designed with ultimate indulgence in mind and feature a stylish mix of lavish mod cons and traditional Fijian elements.

Villa Delena was originally designed as the owner’s own private residence, so the style and comfort of this villa are of a particularly high standard.

Each villa is a microcosm in and of itself, featuring a private pool, ocean views, private beach access and impeccably styled living areas. The overall effect is luxurious, but never gaudy. The thatched roof pavilions blend in seamlessly with the landscaped tropical gardens and mesmerising beachfront vistas.

All Inclusive Bliss

Vatuvara villas are set on a remote paradise island and are only accessible by private transfers – the closest airport is the Nadi International Airport which connects Fiji to Australia, New Zealand and other international destinations.

Guests arrive at Vatuvara on the Twin Otter, the resort’s private plane. Just getting there is an experience, as the 90-minute plane ride from Nadi to Vatuvara takes you over some of the most beautiful islands on the planet.

Once you arrive at the island, there’s little reason to worry about much at all. Vatuvara offers all-inclusive luxury on an epic scale.

Vatuvara’s rates include private transfers to and from the airport. All massage and spa treatments are also included, and the same goes for all island activities, including golf, jet skiing, private yoga classes, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling and scuba diving.

And the fun doesn’t stop there. Wine, juices and smoothies and yep, even a stocked bar are all included in the daily rates and the same goes for champagne picnics and gourmet cooking classes.

Sustainable Luxury

Though Vatuvara Private Islands are all about enjoying the finer things in life, the resort is built on a more meaningful ethos. Vatuvara is committed to preserving the natural beauty and splendour of the island and works together with the Vatuvara Foundation to protect and revive the ocean. The efforts have also been noted by National Geographic.

A little closer to home, Vatuvara boasts its own organic gardens and the food served in the island’s two restaurants (Jim’s Bar & Grill for breakfast and lunch and Valhalla Restaurant for fine dining) serve cuisine prepared from locally sourced produce and seafood fished from the surrounding waters.

Vatuvara’s sustainable ethos extends to the finer details. The island’s golf course is organic and the same goes for the snacks stocked in your villa’s cupboard. At Vatuvara Private Islands, nature may take its course, but no detail is left to chance.
