You can dance the night away at La Favela, sling back martinis at Red Carpet Champagne Bar or spice up your night with a visit to Los Gringos, a popular newcomer located right across the road from the villa. Life at the Villa
Umah Kupu Kupu is a contemporary tropical villa with a fresh look that charms right on arrival. You can leave the living areas open to enjoy easy breezy living by the pool or close the double doors to cool off with the AC on – always a welcome option in the tropical weather. The room has a comfy sofa perfect for lounging in front of the TV, with a kitchen incorporated to the other end of the room. A whimsical painting of a flamingo adds a playful twist to the room.
The villa has all the essentials needed for a carefree stay in Bali and represents terrific value for money. Upon arrival, we were greeted with welcome drinks and cool towels. Housekeepers kept the villa tidy throughout our stay, with a 24-hour security post just outside the villa. Most importantly, there’s a well-sized private pool for the whole gang to splash around in!
The Bedrooms
The villa has two bedrooms which sit side by side facing the pool. These light and spacious rooms are similar in their size and design, so there’s no need to fight over the master here. One room has a likeness of Frida Kahlo hung on the wall, while the other features a print from artist Justine Missen made famous by Mamasan – yet another iconic Seminyak restaurant located within a five-minute jaunt from the villa.
Food, Glorious Food!
As we were staying just 50 metres from Seminyak’s fabled Eat Street, we need to talk about the food! Breakfast is included in the rates, with a choice between continental, American and Indonesian breakfast. The staff prepared the breakfast right in the villa and with the doors left open, we got to dine with views looking over the pool. Not a bad way to start the day!
After fuelling up for the day, it was time to take a tour of our surroundings. As soon as we stepped out from the villa’s private lane, we found ourselves on Eat Street. To list out all the restaurants available on this lively strip would literally take all day – suffice it to say that whichever cuisine you’re craving at any time of day, chances are you’ll find it right here.
If you don’t feel like venturing out, the villa also has a room service menu covering Indonesian favourites from nasi goreng to gado gado. For something a bit more special, special seafood barbecues and set menus are also available. The meals are very well priced and like the villa itself, offer terrific value for money.
