We’ve been in the villa business for a while now – actually, it’s been well over a decade! Over the years, we have seen many a pretty villa pop up in Bali, but only a select few have stood the test of time. You’d be surprised how fast the tropical climate can take a villa from shabby chic to just plain old shabby.

That’s why we’re always so impressed when we discover a villa that thrives in the long run. This can only happen when a villa is lovingly and meticulously looked after – just like Villa Alabali in Seminyak.

Bali, with a Fresh Modern Twist

A little bird told us that Villa Alabali had been newly refurbished and we were very keen to see what aspects of the villa had been upgraded. As we checked in, we were very pleased to see the results – the whole villa had been rejuvenated with new materials and colour.

The biggest change was in the central living area where a huge round mirror now takes pride of place in the centre of the villa. Besides its pleasing appearance, the living area is also very comfortable with lovely big couches to accommodate all guests.

This space can be fully enclosed with glass doors – a modern twist on traditional Balinese alfresco living and a huge perk during the hottest part of the day. As we were fortunate to have a lovely breeze rustling through the trees the entire time we were there, we simply left the doors open and enjoyed the natural ventilation.

Delightfully Dedicated Staff

The staff at Villa Alabali have been at the villa for eight years or so, and it really shows. The team’s dedication and in-depth knowledge comes through in every aspect of their service. Every centimetre of the property is meticulously cared for and impeccably maintained.

The loyalty the team has for the villa gets projected to every guest interaction. We really felt like we’d been welcomed into a home by these lovely Balinese people. They made us feel like honoured guests.

Beautiful Bedrooms and the Best Massages… Ever?

Villa Alabali has four beautiful bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms to match. The canopy beds and semi open-air bathrooms make the rooms feel oh so Balinese, while the amenities (including TVs and walk-in closets) add a modern polish.

The bedrooms are also very generously sized which came in handy. When we wanted to have massages arranged, the team was able to set up massage tables in the individual bedrooms. This means you can really relax in a peaceful and private setting. It was one of the best massages we’ve ever had in Bali! To say that we were very, very happy with both the setting and the service would be an understatement.

Sauntering in Seminyak – and Beyond!

Villa Alabali is located in one of our favourite parts of Seminyak. This is a quiet and peaceful enclave dotted with villas, yet you can easily walk to the beach and all the restaurants, cafes, boutiques and spas lining Eat Street. We can vouch for the walkability as we enjoyed some lovely strolls around Seminyak during our stay.

You could easily stay within a one-kilometre radius of the villa and never run out of places to see and things to do. Shopping at Seminyak Square, sunsets at Ku De Ta and champagne at Red Carpet are always good fun. However, there were a few times when we decided to head further out. The villa staff arranged a taxi for us and again, just looked after us very smoothly.
