Bedrooms With a View
The three bedrooms are located upstairs on the first floor. The stone staircase doesn’t have handrails, which is something to consider if you’re travelling with young children.
The two master bedrooms offer gorgeous views of the surrounding rice paddies through full-wall windows. Both rooms have king-sized beds and a generous flatscreen TV with satellite channels.
The third bedroom is slightly smaller in size and features two single beds which can be converted into a king if needed. This room also has its own satellite TV.
Now, we need to talk about the bathrooms. All three bedrooms have a generous ensuite with modern marble finishing, rainfall shower and an extravagant Jacuzzi tub. That’s right: there’s a Jacuzzi in every bathroom!
Surf Breaks & Rice Fields
So there’s plenty to do inside the villa – but the location is pretty terrific as well.
Villa Ashoka sits pretty in trendy Canggu. The villa is nestled in a peaceful enclave of other luxury villas, funky surf camps and quintessentially Balinese rice fields.
The best way to get around the neighbourhood is by private car or motorbike. Ministry of Villas offers guests a car and driver for up to eight hours a day, priced at USD $55. Hopping on a motorbike is another easy option – just be sure you have the correct licence to drive in Bali and always wear a helmet.
Within a five-minute drive (or a 15-minute walk through the paddies) you’ll find Samadi Bali, a beautiful yoga studio which also hosts a popular Sunday market and houses a wonderful health food café.
A 10-minute drive will bring you to the main drag of Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, where you’ll have you choice of great restaurants and shops. The street finishes at Batu Bolong Beach which is very popular with surfers and offers great views at sunset.
Some of the local highlights you really don’t want to miss are Deus Ex Machina, The Lawn and Old Man’s. All three are cool restaurants that host great live music acts and attract a vibrant mix of locals, expats and travellers.
