The Royal Service
Before we go any further, we cannot stress this enough: Villa Balimu comes with 24-hour butler service. That’s right – dedicated staff will be at your beck and call around the clock during your stay at the villa.
24-hour service is of course somewhat common in large resorts where a small army of staff looks after literally hundreds of guests a day. But it’s really a luxury that everyone should experience at least once in their life to have a dedicated team of staff looking after you and you alone.
As a private villa, Villa Balimu’s staff is dedicated exclusively to you and your group and they are available around the clock. Feeling peckish at 2am? Craving a cocktail after the bars have closed? At Villa Balimu, the staff will take care of your every need at the push of a button, no matter how outlandish the hour.
Balimu Style
Upon arrival at the villa, we’re greeted by polished black Balinese statutes guarding the entrance. From here on out it’s clear that Villa Balimu was designed for travellers who appreciate the finer things in life.
Spread over two floors and looking over a private pool, the rooms are furnished with high-end furniture and peppered with beautiful interior details. The living room connects fluidly to the poolside deck, with the option of closing the glass doors to enjoy the AC – always a welcome option in the tropical heat. The bedrooms are spread over two floors and come furnished with sublimely comfortable beds and beautifully appointed ensuite bathrooms.
But as we all know, it all comes down to the details. There are fresh tea roses on the night stands and our fresh coconuts come personalised with the Balimu logo. The bathrooms are stocked with organic Sensatia Botanical toiletries (the same Balinese skin care brand also supplies cosmetics for some of the most luxurious resorts on the island). And while it might sound trivial it really does make all the difference – the whole villa smells amazing.
Fine In-Villa Dining
After exploring the villa (and falling head over heels in the process) it’s time for dinner. The dinner at Villa Balimu is one of the best meals we’ve ever had in a villa. In fact, it’s one of the very best meals any of us have had in a long, long time.
The way the table is set up is truly fit for a king – and we’re not just talking about the beautiful crockery and flower arrangements. Our menu includes fresh fish sourced from local markets, giant prawns grilled to perfection, tender chicken breast, fresh garden salad… And believe me, the list goes on. The meal is prepared by a personal chef exclusive to our group – the very definition of luxury if you ask me.
Good Morning, Seminyak
The next morning, we get up early – and I do mean early. There air is still dewy fresh and Balimu’s neighbouring cafes – Kim Soo and Sea Circus – are only just setting up for the day. This must be the first time ever that I’ve seen either of these trendy venues anything less than packed!
Villa Balimu is located within the prestigious Laksmana villa complex, tucked down a neat lane just off Jalan Kayu Aya. From here, we stroll over to Petitenget Beach in five minutes flat. During our morning walk, we pass by trendy cafes, cute boutiques and the iconic La Lucciola restaurant which overlooks the beach. Ku De Ta beach club is also located just down the street. With the beach, shopping and dining all right at your fingertips, there’s little to no reason to hail a single taxi or to hop on a motorbike when staying in Villa Balimu.
Breakfast at Balimu
After our morning walk, it’s time for breakfast at the villa. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, so the pressure is on! The villa manager has jotted down our orders the previous night but even with that element of surprise removed, Villa Balimu still manages to knock our socks of.
Like everything else at Villa Balimu, breakfast is prepared according to guests’ preference. For us, that means fresh croissants from Monsieur Spoon (our favourite!), fresh fruit juice in three different colours (in case you’re really thirsty, infused water is also available), fresh tropical fruit, banana pancakes, eggs made to order and last but not least, a round of lattes and cappuccinos. In other words, we’ve reached pure breakfast bliss.
