Once upon a time, when travelling was still a luxury but not impossible, we ran for the hills – the serene hilltops of the Bukit peninsula, that is. Hidden in the southern tip of Bali, Villa Khaya was our island home for the weekend back in early 2020.

All About the Views

As soon as we arrived at Villa Khaya, it was clear that this villa is all about the views, baby! Villa Khaya sits on an enviable elevation, with sweeping vistas reaching out to the Indian Ocean. The villa’s private infinity pool is obviously the best place for drinking in the views.

The villa itself is classic in its design, relying on natural timber and an earthy colour palette. The timeless feel of the villa is brought bang up to date with an extensive use of glass which helps further play up the views.

The villa has a spacious lounge and dining room with an open floorplan, with four bedrooms comfortably sleeping up to eight guests. With two extra beds, you can take that number up to 10.

Five Star Service

Though the views are fabulous and the design charming, what impressed us most about the villa was the service. Villa manager Wayan was hospitality personified and right on arrival he showed us around the villa and introduced the staff. After that, we could reach the staff via WhatsApp – this afforded us all the privacy we needed and we felt the communication with the staff was seamless.

Just like the service, the food at Villa Khaya was fantastic. The presentation was spot on and everything was served hot and right on time. Overall, we were very impressed by the level of service.

Staying in the Bukit

Villa Khaya is a real hidden gem, built on a beautiful hilltop in the Bukit as the southern tip of Bali is known. From these great heights, the rest of the world feels far away which makes this the perfect spot to relax, unwind and immerse yourself in privacy.

When you want to explore the island, it’s just a 15-minute drive to reach beautiful white sand beaches like Pandawa, Melasti and Nusa Dua Beach. The luxury resorts of Nusa Dua are also just a short drive away and offer the perfect setting for an indulgent Sunday brunch by the pool – if you can bear to tear yourself away from the villa that is.

Our stay at Villa Khaya was blissful. We’re already dreaming of the day when we get to explore Bali again – and we know we’re not the only ones.
