One of the things that makes Ministry of Villas special in a sea of booking services is that we personally inspect the villas we offer on our website. We talk with the staff, peak into the closests, sample the welcome drinks and make scrupulous notes of the bedroom configurations and size of the pool so that you don’t have to.

After visiting more villas than you can count, you start getting an idea of what to expect and what’s around the corner. Every now and then, though, a villa comes along that surprises even the most seasoned villa expert.

Villa Malaathina is definitely one of those villas.

Perfect for Retreats

Nestled by rice fields in the relaxed neighbourhood of Umalas (don’t worry, you’re still just 15 minutes from Seminyak), Villa Malaathina’s neat entrance gives no indication of the splendour that’s waiting inside.

Form the get go, it’s clear that Villa Malaathina is tailor-made for retreats and events, though it’s also great if you just want to relax and live large. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a huge stretch of lawn followed by an equally impressive 25-metre swimming pool. This already gives you some idea of the sheer size of the villa.

Finding enough bedrooms for a large group in sought-after Seminyak can be time consuming and costly. Villa Malaathina offers a great alternative in neighbouring Umalas, which also helps bring the price tag down.

Room to Spare

Villa Malaathina has seven bedrooms and can sleep up to 16 guests. The bedrooms are well spread apart, so you never feel like you’re on top of each other. There are three bedrooms with king-sized beds and four rooms with two single beds which can be converted into a king if need be.

The master bedroom is located up on the first floor of the main house. It’s huge in size and the enormous master bathroom has some serious Sex and the City appeal – it even offers private rooftop access.

All of the bedrooms are beautifully styled and impeccably clean. To avoid sour grapes syndrome upon arrival, it’s worth noting that the two bedrooms set side by side in a garden pavilion are significantly smaller in size compared to the other five rooms. These two rooms also have an interconnecting door, as well as featuring their own private entrances.

Yoga, Gym & Teppanyaki

Having enough room for hosting big groups is one thing. Offering great facilities for everyone to enjoy is another. In this realm, Villa Malaathina really excels.

Villa Malaathina has a designated yoga room and one of the best equipped gyms we’ve seen in any villa. The gym and yoga space are located in the same air-conditioned pavilion to the back of the property, so in this case, they really did save the best for last. Both rooms are adjoined by a separate spa room with two massage beds – perfect for some in-villa pampering after a work out.

Besides the state-of-the-art exercise facilities, Villa Malaathina offers a 25-metre swimming pool, huge media room, rooftop terrace with cool pod chairs and something truly special for the foodies: a private teppanyaki bar! The villa is staffed with two private chefs as well as a team of housekeepers, so no one needs to worry about cooking or cleaning up after.

Whether you’re staying at the villa with the family or as a retreat guest, Villa Malaathina offers little reason to check out at all.
