Asobidokoro
Overview

Asobidokoro promises easy breezy living in the powder capital of Asia. Irresistibly modern yet surprisingly cosy, this concrete chalet is cool, calm and collected in all the right ways. Nestled in Hirafu’s relaxed Lower Village, the chalet offers two floors of effortless slope side living.

Asobidokoro represents a type of chalet that’s uniquely Japanese. These concrete structures offer a beautiful and sublimely comfortable fusion of Japanese aesthetics and Western comforts. The cool concrete contours of the façade are echoed in the raw concrete walls that accentuate the rooms inside. Beautiful Japanese details – most notably the stunning sunken dining area – root the décor in its surroundings while the fireplace and warm touches of deep red add some cosiness.

Living

The lower floor is taken up by inviting living areas and a stunning Japanese dining room where guests can gather up for relaxed meals around a traditional sunken dining table. There’s a fully equipped kitchen for all your culinary needs and a cosy fireplace to add some ambiance on those cold winter nights. Upstairs, you’ll find four stylish bedrooms where you can stretch out for some much needed r and r after a busy day spent scaling Asia’s best ski slopes – or perhaps a long night spent sampling the local cuisine and sake in the neighbourhood’s izakaya eateries.

Living Room

The living room is a calm and relaxed space positioned on the chalet’s ground floor. The room is framed by full wall windows with exposed concrete walls adding some modern edge. The three grey sofas match the walls beautifully while the two timber coffee tables exude quiet Japanese elegance. There are two focal points here vying for your attention. Either you’ll be watching your favourite TV shows and movies on the flatscreen TV or you’ll simply be enthralled by the warm glow of the fireplace that’s positioned on the opposite wall. Either way, you’ll be all set for a cosy night in.

Dining Room

Located just to the side of the living room, the dining area is a real show piece. It features a traditional sunken dining table surrounded by 10 chairs. This is a wonderful space for enjoying hearty home cooked meals or delicious takeaway from the nearby restaurants. The chalet’s all white modern kitchen is located nearby, fluidly adjoining the living room.
