Athakon House feels like a sprawling mansion hidden amidst the jungle, all carefully designed for you and your entourage to discover and delight in. The villa’s central pavilion is the social hub of the estate, featuring a billiard table and a smart TV, with a large dining area tailored made for epic feasts. From here, bridges and stairways jut out to the four surrounding bedroom pavilions which tower over fish ponds and lush gardens. The villa is adorned with beautiful antiques and every surface is kept immaculately clean and polished. It is impossible not to fall in love with this glorious Cambodian abode. It’s not every day you discover a villa that allows you to live out your wildest Indiana Jones dreams!

Living Room

The lounge room is an incredible space built on an elevated ground floor and surrounded by four large ponds. This is the ultimate place to chill out in a jungle like setting – it’s just the kind of place where you could imagine Indiana Jones or Lara Croft rewinding after a day filled with adventure! The open plan room is fitted with a pool table, beautiful antiques, lounge furniture and a large TV for streaming your favourite movies and TV shows – perhaps a Tomb Raider marathon?

Dining Room

The villa’s dining area is superbly scenic as it is positioned on the upper floor of the central pavilion. From here, guests enjoy inspiring 360-degree views of the lush gardens as a tropical breeze keeps this open plan space nice and ventilated. The timber dining table is nice and long, inviting guests to gather around for relaxed family style meals and elaborate feasts alike. When you feel like stretching out after a substantial meal, the same pavilion also features a relaxed lounge area. The villa’s fully fitted kitchen is located close by on the same floor, with equipment including a coffee maker, blender, juicer and more.

Garden & Pool

The villa sits amid fairy-tale gardens blooming with exotic flowers and lush trees. Imposing stone statues and serene fishponds further add to the magical ambiance. The wooden villa perfectly blends with its lush surroundings and provides a picture perfect backdrop for the glorious 14-metre long pool hidden amid the greenery. The beautifully tiled pool features wide steps, with a substantial statue of King Jayavarman VII presiding over this serene tableau. The pool is surrounded by a row of sun beds and parasols on either side, inviting guests to get lost in the tropical splendour that surrounds.

Athakon House features seven bedrooms. The rooms are divided into four pavilions and they are rendered in calm, classic style – think fresh white walls and polished timber floors, with local art and textiles adding a taste of Cambodia. Five bedrooms feature king-sized beds and two rooms come with two single beds each. All rooms are adjoined by an ensuite bathroom.

Athakon House is a seven-bedroom villa that’s divided into five pavilions. The main building houses a lounge room on the ground floor, with a dining room located directly above it. This central pavilion is connected to four corner pavilions through walkways and stairs. Each of these four pavilions houses a bedroom on the ground floor. Three pavilions also have a bedroom on the upper floor, while the fourth building houses the kitchen. The villa has extensive gardens and a 14 x 7 metre swimming pool.

Villa Manager

Athakon House’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

Housekeepers attend the villa daily to take care of all domestic duties.

Butlers

Butlers are on hand daily to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout the day.

Athakon House is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This enticing Cambodian city is of course best known as the home of Angkor Wat, the ancient temple complex which was rediscovered in the jungle in the 1840s. Today, Angkor Wat is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, welcoming over two million visitors every year. The temple complex is located about 25 minutes from the villa. The vibrant centre of Siem Reap is even closer by – just 5 – 10 minutes from the villa. The city centre offers an amazing array of restaurants, shops and galleries to explore. A great place to start are the neon lights, restaurants and market stalls lining Pub Street.
