Ayr Castle 1922 Living
The story behind the property is quite extraordinary. The castle was originally built by a tea planter as a testament of his love for a Scottish noblewoman. To win over his one true love, the planter modelled the property after majestic Scottish castles. While that love story was not to be, the castle has stood the test of time and still offers the same grandeur and sweeping views it did a century ago.

The living room embodies the old-world charm of the property. The space features tiled stone floors covered with oriental carpets. An elegant arrangement of sofas and armchairs sits at the centre of the room, with ornate vintage pieces adding to the historic feel of the space.

A grand archway separates the dining area from the living room lounge. The polished timber table can accommodate the whole group for long and luxurious meals prepared by the villa’s culinary team.
Garden & Pool
The estate is completely immersed in greenery, revealing gorgeous views from its hilltop vantage point. From the main house, steps cascade down to generous lawns, eventually leading down to a pristine blue pool. Ayr Castle 1922 is located in Labugama near Padukka in western Sri Lanka. Surrounded by a rubber plantation and gazing over misty hilltops, the villa offers a truly exceptional setting made for rest and relaxation. You can enjoy leisurely walks and hikes around the plantation. The surrounding area is simply breathtaking with wild waterfalls and sacred temples hidden amid the greenery. For exciting day trips, the capital city of Colombo is about 90 minutes away while historic Galle Fort can be reached in just over two hours. Mirissa Beach and the ancient city of Kandy are both about three hours away.
