Living Room
Dendrobium House offers many places where guests can relax and socialize, all the while being surrounded by Sri Lankan design and landscape. The formal living room invites everyone to gather on plush sofas and plantation chairs and swap stories while you admire the art and textiles that give this space its essence. For a truly Sri Lankan experience, make your way to the grand veranda and sip a cup of fine Ceylon tea while admiring the ever-changing beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The sheer grandeur of the formal dining room harks back to a time gone by. Lit up by an ornate chandelier, the stately table can seat 14 guests for elaborate feasts. If you prefer, you can also enjoy your meals in the relaxed dining area gazing over the garden or even have your meals served outside on the lawn. The villa is set on a gorgeous plot looking out to the surrounding mountain range, with an organic farm located right on the property. The highlight is a magnificent, curved pool which gazes over the scenery, with an adjoining Jacuzzi only adding to its allure. The property is surrounded by huge lawns perfect for fun and play, with exotic flora and fauna offering endless inspiration. When the sun begins to set, you can gather by the firepit to witness as the sun paints the sky a flaming shade of red and gold.

Dendrobium House features six bedrooms. The rooms are wonderfully ornate, and they each have a unique look and colour scheme, ranging from fiery red to a sunny yellow and periwinkle blue. Each room offers all the comforts you could ask for, including a TV, minibar, and an ensuite bathroom.

Dendrobium House is a six-bedroom villa that’s built over three floors. The villa features generous living and dining areas and six ensuite bedrooms. The villa sits amid large, manicured gardens and features a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and an outdoor firepit. The villa features a lift, ensuring ease of access for all guests.

Your stay in Dendrobium House is made enjoyable by the professional staff. Dendrobium House’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly Sri Lankan hospitality.
Villa Manager
Dendrobium House’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.
Butlers
Butlers are on hand daily to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.

The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.

Nethru Nanayakkara –
We stayed as a family for two nights in two rooms, and it was simply fantastic! The villa’s breathtaking views, elegant colonial-style décor, and hot-water Jacuzzi in the pool made it the perfect place to relax, in cold Hanthana climate. The rooms were spacious, luxurious, and even had JBL speakers for our music.
The food was outstanding — with the chef personally checking in after each meal — and we even enjoyed a private dining experience in their private dining room. The staff did room service twice-daily which was a new experience for us.
We loved cycling around , even though the roads were hilly and the naturalist took us for a farm tour and cave hike. While mobile reception is limited (only Mobitel works), the Wi-Fi was mostly fine; Starlink internet connection would make connectivity perfect.
An unforgettable stay — truly a hidden gem and a perfect place to unwind feel refreshed.

My family of four spent two nights during the recent long weekend. We occupied the Moth and Vine suites. We felt like home away from home, since had an utmost privacy though there were two other families occupied. Surrounded with lush greenery, chirping birds, flowering bushes and cool breeze made the environment so serene and blissful.
We indulged in luxury and very cozy facilities as well as mouthwatering cuisines. The Jacuzzi made us more comfortable while we dipped in the pool enjoying the breathtaking Mountain Views. The food and service were exceptional, worth the cost we spent for our stay.

Dendrobium House was the perfect place for us to spend our honeymoon, and it was truly magical! We were immediately struck by the serene allure of the location, which was surrounded by luxury, the most compassionate people, and nature.
Our farm tour and cave trekking were made unforgettable by the extremely knowledgeable naturalist on site! It was thrilling, instructive, and full of moments of awe. A particular thank you to the farm manager, who was kind, and enthusiastic!

A tastefully designed hotel from architecture to artwork. Luxurious rooms, exceptional service and delectable full course meals!
We stayed for one night and I would highly recommend at least two nights because there is so much to do within the property itself which we sadly didn’t have time for! Would come again for two nights next!

This is a hidden gem in Hanthana! My family and I spent three days here and we loved every minute of our stay. The stunning location, the cleanliness, the beautiful interior, the food and service were impeccable. Also would like to thank the in-house naturalist Ms. Janani who went above and beyond with her service. Dendrobium House Hanthana is a charming and nature friendly bunglow with a great ambiance around with excellent service. The staff is so supportive and very kind in attending to everything you need .Specially Mr Dharmasiri and Ms Janani goin beyond to assist with the needs and guiding us every time we need and giving us a wonderful experience around the property and Hanthana.
The delicious food at each day meals and the high tea was so much delicious and beyond our expectations where The cheffs Ravindra and Neil did the best.
Overall we had a wonderful relaxing days at Dendrobium and the room was a top notch with d best view and we would like to thank the whole staff including Mr Darmasiri , Ms Janani ,Mr Rukshan and as well as the excellent cheffs for everything and we are looking forward to visit again.

Tranquility with R&R
Had the pleasure of staying with my family at this beautiful premises. I must say what a peaceful place for proper R&R. There are plenty of tranquil spots scattered around the premises for large families who also want some individual personal space (if that’s your thing!). The highlight was the villa team, Gavin the villa manager added that personal touch which made us feel like we arrived at home away from home. He brought a unique and highly attentive touch to our stay coordinating all the friendly well trained and welcoming staff. We really enjoyed the experience and cannot recommend enough.
Food was really well prepared, delicious and portion sizes did not fill us with regret but satisfaction! Checkout the photos!
I look forward to returning again as we depart recharged for 2025.
P.s for any Pianists, there was a Yamaha baby grand to enjoy.

How lovely to find a little peace of heaven ! One of the most tranquil places to stay surrounded by birdsong and natural beauty. Hands down one of the most underrated places I have had the pleasure in staying whilst in hanthana, Kandy. Amidst all the thriving properties around such as w15 etc., Dendrobium house is the rare gem amongst them all; the property alone is exquisite from it’s beautiful interior, main/common areas, outdoor spaces to the rooms (we stayed in the rapture suite).
the staff are so friendly and kind, and took such good care of us during our stay (special shout out to Dharshana) The food is mind blowing-ly out of this world AMAZING and would require a separate review on its own tbh; the chef is so kind and takes you through the menu prior to understand your preferences and dishes out the best of THE best food/desserts (honestly, the food is better than any 5 star I’ve been to).
The property also offers amazing excursions led by the ever so sweet janani, the naturalist who shares so much of insightful information and stories about all the birds and animals that come across the property.
Over all I could not recommend Dendrobium House enough, it was so spectacular and would recommend for couples and young families looking for the most perfect getaway from the city.

Our stay at Dendrobium House was superb! We were warmly welcomed at the arrival and treated with great hospitality. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Had a serene feeling. The road you should take is from Kandy town via Hanthana road uptown Uduwela and then turn left once you passed 2 storage tanks. Google maps shows a different route. The meals were awesome and the service was great. They have a naturalist at site and there are set of activities to be done around the house. We had the plantation visit and Janani (naturalist) gave us a great tour. Need to mention the factory manager too. Our caretaker was Mr. Dharmasiri who treated us and looked after our needs. The manager at Dendrobium House was also very friendly. The peo tv connection was bit slow due to poor signal reception. All other experiences were great!

Beautiful location some 30 to 45mins drive from Kandy city up in the mountains (and hence sometimes rather sketchy Internet). That left aside you could not wish for a more serene holiday spot – what an amazing and professional hospitality team to have around – Gavin and his team are so kind, attentive and helpful, it’s really outstanding! The property is surrounded by lush green in the mountains, only a handful of guest rooms since this is a boutique hotel, so you can enjoy tranquility in abundance. The interior design is really precious and so many beautiful details to explore, but my personal highlight about staying at Dendrobium will always be their beyond excellent food – the chef can adapt to spontaneous requests easily and has a rich and diverse menu up his sleeve, from homemade cookies and pastries to international top star dishes and of course the rich and flavourful Sri Lankan cuisine.
