“Pity you can only give a rating of Excellent!”

Outstanding………….. It’s really hard to convey just how good this place is. My wife is absolutely Elephant crazy, and she was just like a kid in a candy store. For 4 days, she washed the Elephants, swam with the Elephants, fed the Elephants, rode the Elephants, patted Fajar the Baby Elephant, we had an Elephant Chauffeur service to our room, to take us to Dinner each night. The staff were brilliant and innovative too, even down to the Elephant dolls they make out of your clean Towels every day. Room was great, food was great, staff and handlers are more than happy to let you interact with their Elephants and for good measure, throw in a White Water Rafting experience too, which was sensational. Can’t recommend the joint enough….just go there and see for yourself.

It was awesome from start to end.

I’m not sure if it’s just because…I super duper love elephants! But if you love elephants even just 1% as much as I do, you must stay at the elephant safari hotel! I booked one night at the lodge because I wanted to spend all the time I could with the elephants and unless you stay at the lodge, you don’t get to bathe and swim with the elephants.

    “Most Awesome Experience Ever!”
Best decision I made for this trip, ever.

The safari park is very well manicured, and the elephants are taken care of very well. These are rescue elephants. The founder of the park, an Australian rescued them from elephant “training centers”, which are basically elephant concentration camps run by the Indonesian governments where elephants just go and wait to die after they were rounded up by the government after land that they have lived on for centuries were cleared by loggers. It makes your heart break.

The baby elephant is sooooo adorable. The level of interaction with the elephants is very high, I’ve traveled around a bit and I’d say it’s not a level that I’ve experienced anywhere else! The elephant chauffeur service is so funny and awesome! The elephant comes to your room and pick you up when you buzz for the service through the reception and takes you to wherever you need to go within the resort.

The elephants appear genuinely happy to work, and they are protected from the evil harm that their compatriots are exposed to outside, while living happily in a protective and controlled environment with their friends and visitors who love them.

The elephants are extremely mischievous, highly intelligent, full of fun, they are just awesome, and very human-child like. There’s a scheduled talent show. The trainers have a dream job that I’ll love to have. They carry a sharp tool in their hands which appears to be meant to control the elephants but I never saw them use it.

The room is beautiful, especially the bathroom. There are intricate adorable finishing like elephant legs of the bed and a painting on the wall that was done by an elephant. Expect touches of a five star resort like bathrobe, slippers, full shower amenities, cookies, a personalized letter addressed to me on the dresser, little touches like this. We sat on the beautiful porch overlooking the rice paddies in our bath robes as we drank tea and read. Wifi signal is strong. Breakfast is provided. We ate it in a hurry because we wanted to spend more time bathing with the elephants.

We took the complimentary fruit platter out and fed the elephants with the fruits. LOL!

If you are even an OUNCE of an elephant lover, you must stay in the hotel. You get to spend time with the elephants unpressured, you can see them over and over, you get the swim and bath sessions only available to hotel guests, and after deducting the costs of the entry tickets to the lodge and elephant ride, I discovered that I only paid US$150 for the room itself. Spanking awesome!!

I’d stay in this place in a heartbeat again. And I will definitely be back to see my dear elephants again. Thinking of them still makes me smile, and I was so sad to leave Bali because of the elephants I felt depressed on the plane.

“Wonderful experience in an amazing place”

Our stay at the Elephant Safari Park & Lodge (ESPL) was everything we expected it to be and more! Yes it is expensive but a lot of Bali standards, but was very high quality and the elephant experience was amazing!

The staff are very professional and friendly from reception staff to the elephant mahouts, restaurant staff – even the elephant poop cleaners were very friendly and welcoming.

Such a lot to do here – we extended our stay to a third night. An elephant picks you up from your room each night for dinner! we washed them, swam with them and rode them lots.

We also did their white water rafting and mountain bike ride side trips which were great.

Highly recommend this experience as a must in Bali.

    “Attention to every detail”

This park is amazing. Although we had only a day there wasn’t one thing I could fault, from hotel pickup throughout the day.
The park grounds are immaculate; the mahouts clearly well trained and genuinely care about ‘their’ ellie (our mahout said it was like boot camp, and respect for elephants considered most important); lunch delicious!
It was lovely to see the younger elephants in training, and allowed to go at their own pace of learning – a youngster came out with us on our walk, learning her way so that she felt at home with the walk route. We met Nigel who started the park to provide a decent life for sumatran elephants whose own environment had been destroyed through deforestation. He was up to his elbows in mud, digging a new waterfall for the elephant nursery with his work crew- great to see for him that this park is more than just a business ( some of the park’s proceeds g to pay for food and guardians for the elpehants he couldn’t rescue, and who are stuck in what looks like a dustbowl in Sumatra)

Next trip we’ll be staying a few nights!

    “Safari under the stars”

Paid for the Safari Under the Stars package through my agent and it was such a great experience with the elephants. Our park guide, John spoke excellent English and brought us around for a tour in the elephant park. During our visit, we saw a 3 month old baby elephant and we were told they have 31 elephants in total. We get to feed, touch and see the elephants up close and watched them bathe as well :)

The show and ride was good. Our package included dinner in their restaurant, it was a buffet style and I simply enjoyed my dinner. Didn’t regret going for this cos I’ve never been so upclose with elephants before!
