Goatfell Living
Goatfell has a rich and storied history. Located on a tea estate, the villa has its roots in a humble planter’s bungalow which was rebuilt in the 1940s. Starting in 2018, the property was transformed into the luxurious villa it is today. And what of the property’s unique moniker? Goatfell sits on one of Sri Lanka’s highest elevations, whereas Goat Fell Mountain is the highest peak in Scotland. Thus, the villa’s name nods to the Scotsmen who first introduced tea to Sri Lanka in the 19th century.
Living Room
The living room exudes a calm elegance, relying on a muted colour palette and furniture that whispers quiet luxury. There are ample sofas to sit and chat on, with glass doors opening to a breezy veranda and a fireplace that adds a warm glow amid the cool mountain air.
Dining Room
The dining room is an elegant space where pine green walls echo the lush beauty of the surrounding landscape. This generous dining area can comfortably accommodate the whole group for gorgeous meals prepared by the villa’s skilled staff – unless you prefer to dine outside on the scenic veranda instead.
Garden & Pool
Goatfell sits on a slice of heaven. Perched on an elevation inside a working tea estate, the villa gazes down on misty hilltops and rolling green fields. The villa’s private swimming pool is the perfect place to drink in those heavenly views – although we’re also partial to the villa’s atmospheric firepit. The ample outdoor lounge areas allow you to relax in style.
Goatfell Bedrooms

My honest review after staying 3days at this place may 31 june 1 & 2. Randomly got the contact after looking for a place last moment, best place with parking. Rooms are with attached washroom perfectly clean and comfortable.
The place is very quiet.

Enchanting location
The service we received at this delightful plantation bungalow was exceptional. It is set high above Nuwara Eliya ( about a 30 min drive.) Because of the height it can get cloudy and misty in the afternoon.
The rooms are very comfortable and the staff always looking to go the extra mile. They organised for us to visit a tea plantation . Taken there in their own tuk tuk . And we also when on a lovely self guided walk. It was so nice to be somewhere so relaxing. The food and wine was excellent. It is all inclusive as there is definitely nowhere near by so be aware of its secluded location.

Don’t hesitate to book!
Our two nights spent at this wonderful boutique hotel were a highlight of our holiday in Sri Lanka. Every detail was perfect, from the hot tea served as we watched the sun rise over the mountains in the morning to the hot water bottle to warm our toes at night. The staff were excellent in every way. A special mention should go to the chef, who provided the most exquisite food from breakfast to dinner.

Home from Home
The journey up and up, literally to the top of the hill ended at 1921m above sea level. This place is so tranquil and the views over the valley stunning. The food is as good as the best anywhere. In fact I commented I had never eaten banana flowers and that night the Head Chef, unbeknown to me surprised me with a starter that included it. A small 4-bedroom ex-Tea plantation manager’s bungalow isn’t where you expect staff who are so experienced. They even made me my favourite drink a Negroni.
There are plenty of options for walking the surrounding hills amoungst the tea plantations and abundant vegetable and salad growing which they do here. They even have GPS walking devices to borrow so you don’t get lost.
Enjoy

Glorious Goatfell
We spent a wonderful three days at Goatfell with Indika and his team. The service, professionalism and attention to detail were all impeccable, and everything was carried out with charm and a smile. The food was some of the best we ate in Sri Lanka. It felt like a real home from home! We were sad to leave. Thank you so much.

Outstanding stay
We cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Having spent two wonderful days and nights here we were sad to say goodbye. The food is outstanding, the location is stunning and the staff are amazing. Indika and his team made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
The unique location meant that we enjoyed breakfast overlooking the tea plantations in complete tranquility. Evenings were spent in the comfort of the lounge in front of the fire with a drink before retiring to bed to find a hot water bottle waiting.
We enjoyed the circular walk around the tea plantations in the morning before the heat of the day became too much and also our first game of croquet on the lawn outside our bedroom. We were also shown around the kitchen garden of which the gardener was rightly proud.
Upon our departure we were given picnic for our onward journey, so thoughtful and delicious.

My wife and I had the most amazing stay of our Sri Lanka honeymoon at Goatfell. It is refined luxury personified; an amazing setting with incredible views, incredibly comfortable and well furnished rooms, superb staff and highest quality food. We spent our trip hiking the region, swimming in the infinity pool, visiting the local village and tea factories. Nuwara Eliya is only a short drive away and also has really beautiful tourist spots. Could not speak more highly of Mohamed and the team at Goatfell.
Lakna Kush
This beautiful four-bedroom tea bungalow, perched atop the hills of Concordia Estate in Kandapola, Nuwara Eliya, offers a serene retreat amidst tea plantations and lush greenery. The bungalow’s colonial charm shines through its cozy interiors, blending antique elegance with modern comforts and thoughtful amenities. Guests can enjoy various excursions and hikes arranged by the property, as well as relax in an inviting infinity pool that entices even in cooler weather. A small game room with board games adds to the entertainment options. The food stands out with a farm-to-table concept, offering fresh dishes that deserve a solid 9/10 rating. Exceptional service is guaranteed, with a dedicated butler and a helpful manager ensuring a delightful stay.

Set high above tea plantations, Goatfell is a magical place. The view over the valley with the sounds of the birds, crickets and frogs was delightful. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable, especially appreciated the hot water bottle placed in the bed when the temperature dropped in the evening. A highlight of our stay was the dinner prepared by the chef – it was one of the best meals we have had during our travels in Sri Lanka. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

The experience was exceptional from end to end. To start off, the property is really beautiful and has breathtaking views everywhere you look. The garden is beautiful and calm and very well maintained. Loved strolling into the forest which was right next door. You have a really nice view of the tea estates and near by mountains and villages right from the garden. You have the pekoe trail really close by to the Bunglow which offers even more breathtaking scenery within just a short hike. Most importantly the food and service was exceptional. Every dish we had was carefully curated by the well talented chefs, we loved everything we had. The staff cared for us so well and offered us personalized attention throughout the stay. They even took us to visit the nearby villages and also explained the heritage around the property and all the folktales from the nearby mountains. Have been back home only a day ago and I already deeply deeply miss this stay. Had such a calm and relaxing stay. Thank you everyone at the property for making it so special. Recommend it 110/100 Can’t wait to go back again to experience it all again!

One of the best stays of my life! Goatfell is such a peaceful and relaxing place surrounded by nature, with a big garden and a really calm vibe. The rooms were super cozy, spacious and clean.
The food was amazing — fresh, full of flavour and lots of great options .
Big shoutout to Indika and the team for their amazing hospitality. The service was next level. They were so friendly, helpful and professional, they made us feel completely at home.
Also don’t miss the sunrise — it’s absolutely magical. Can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful bungalow nicely headed by Nishanthe and butler Indika. Family thoroughly enjoyed the trip due to their responsiveness and helpfulness. World class location, state of accomodation and food. Just make sure you get a seasoned driver as the drive up is quite challenging especially on a rainy day. May want to ask the property if it is a better idea for your driver to drive you to Kandapola and then hire a tuk-tuk up to Goatfell as roads are narrow and 2-way traffic can include an oncoming bus.
