Highgrove Estate Living
Highgrove Estate began its life as a 19th century planter’s bungalow. Since then, the property has been transformed into a luxurious villa that merges historic charm with contemporary comfort. The rooms give elegant nods to local heritage, with plush amenities and superb service catering to contemporary travellers. The thread that runs through the property is an undeniable connection to nature – surrounded by all this verdant beauty, you can just feel your whole being relax.
Living Room
The living room captures the estate’s historic charm while also adding a modern polish. Dominated by an inviting arrangement of pillowy white sofas, the lounge area features an atmospheric fireplace. This is a wonderful place to gather in on cooler nights as the mist rolls over the hilltops. Ornate cabinets, lamps, and mirrors add to the room’s heritage feel.
Dining Room
Also incorporated into the living room, the dining area shares the same elegant design and offers those same luscious views. The polished timber dining table can easily seat a group of eight, with elaborate chandleries and ornate furnishings adding a sense of grandeur. This is the ideal setting for indulging in incredible meals prepared by the villa’s culinary team. You can also enjoy relaxed barbecues outside in the garden where you’ll be accompanied by amazing views of the hill country.
Garden & Pool
Highgrove Estate is framed by storybook landscape and surrounded by enchanting green gardens. The gardens are beautifully tiered, allowing for a wonderful sense of wonder and discovery as you meander through the grounds. There is no swimming pool, but amid the fresh mountain air you’d probably have little use for one anyway. What you’ll discover instead are lush green lawns, verdant trees, exotic flowers, a serene fountain – and amazing hilltop views reaching as far as the eye can see.

Highgrove Estate features three bedrooms. The rooms are sublimely comfortable and beautifully styled, striking the perfect balance between historic charm and contemporary luxe. All three rooms are adjoined by ensuite bathrooms.

Highgrove Estate is a three-bedroom villa that’s built over a single floor. The villa features enclosed living and dining areas and three bedrooms, all of them ensuites. The villa is surrounded by expansive gardens complete with a beautiful water feature.
Highgrove Estate Staff
Your stay in Highgrove Estate is made enjoyable by the professional staff. Highgrove Estate’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly Sri Lankan hospitality.
Villa Manager
Highgrove Estate’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.
Butlers
Butlers are on hand everyday to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.
Chef
The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.
Security
It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.

Absolutely beautiful bungalow with the best service you could ask for. We stayed here three nights. Even though the weather was not in our favor, we still had a wonderful time thanks to the exceptional service provided by the estate manager, Mr. Johnson, and the staff. The bungalow is situated in a secluded location about half an hour from Nuwaraeliya. It’s close to a couple of tea factories and the beautiful Ramboda Falls.
We had several meals at the bungalow and everything we had was delicious. The service was top notch and staff were so kind and welcoming. We went here to celebrate my dad’s birthday, and the staff were kind enough to get him a birthday cake and decorate the bungalow for our celebrations. The bathrooms could use some minor upgrades, but the rooms were quite spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend this place and hope to re-visit sometime.

I stayed at Highgrove Ishq Labookele with my family for one night, and it was truly a beautiful experience from start to finish. The property itself is stunning with breathtaking views of the neverending hills.
The service was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel completely at home. Every little detail was taken care of with genuine care and hospitality. The team went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and the personal touch made a big difference.
The rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished, and well maintained. The living and dining spaces are cozy, with large windows opening to breathtaking views. The garden area was perfect to relax in.
Food was another highlight, fresh, flavorful, and served with great attention to detail. Dining here felt less like a hotel meal and more like being warmly hosted in someone’s home.
Overall, Highgrove Ishq is a hidden gem, ideal for families or couples. We left with wonderful memories and would love to return for a longer stay.

Beautiful place and amazing service by Mr Johnson and his staff! They were so lovely and very accommodating – we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the food is delicious! Highgrove Estate By Ishq was an exceptional place to stay while visiting Nuwara Eliya. Johnson and his staff run the place with excellent care. We were a party of four and all of us were thoroughly pleased with the accommodation, the service, the food, and the personnel that worked there. Johnson was easily accessible when we needed him and looked after all of us with such good care. He helped whenever we needed a driver and also gave us great recommendations for places to visit. Peace and tranquility in colonial residence
We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful colonial residence. Johnson, the manager looked after us with great warmth and finesse. We had the residence to ourselves (5 pax) . The dinners were delicious, both Sri Lankan and western dishes.
Sadly the weather didn’t allow for hiking. Nether the less we relaxed and enjoyed our beautiful surroundings.

Me and my family had amazing time at this property, the whole experience was totally exceptional. The rooms were very cosy and spacious, the living area was so welcoming and it felt just like home.
The level of service we received by Johnson and the crew at the property was exceptional, it took our experience at the villa to another level. We received all what we have asked for from the crew at the villa, the food was excellent, many dishes we extremely loved.
I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a place to disconnect and chill, note that the villa is far from Nuwara Eliya, however you can explore other places around the villa like waterfalls and tea plantation factories. Only trouble we had is that one of the rooms is located at the main hall which is shared with the kitchen, often the smell used to reach this room specifically, and it had no AC, however the crew helped us to shift the mattress to the other room and we were comfortable with solution.

What a gorgeous property and exactly what we were looking for on our journey through Sri Lanka’s tea country. Johnson and his team really looked after us – the house was all decorated with Christmas lights when we arrived and felt really festive and welcoming. The in-house chefs were wonderful and cooked some really fabulous meals for us during our stay. Nothing was a problem.
Johnson went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and happy, suggesting great outings in the area. It was a perfect launch pad for parts of the Pekoe Trail which we could reach in half an hour from the bungalow. The bungalow grounds are gorgeous and well kept with lovely views over the valley, and the house itself is beautifully decorated and homey and we never wanted to leave.

The most amazing experience in Sri Lanka
Highgrove is a splendid, once-in-a-lifetime experience: the best in our 3 weeks long journey across Sri Lanka, where we stayed mostly install, upmarket heritage hotels. The bungalow, the location among the tea estates, the service, the team led by Johnson, the food, the atmosphere, the attention to details were superb. One can one be grateful that the owners- a business family from Colombo – decided to refurbish, re-launch and protect this historical cottage near Newark Eliya.
Its view over the valley is unforgettable, the decor is perfect, the feeling is not of a hotel but of a private, luxury mansion where then owners have kindly accepted to have guess. We can only recommend this incredible, serene, peaceful place to anyone who is looking for something different, better, higher. Thank you again manager Johnson, you are doing a fantastic job and being your guests has been a privilege.

Home away from home!!
We visited HighGrove Estate to celebrate my wife’s birthday and Sinhalese and Tamil new year and had the most amazing experience. The three bedroom house was very comfortable and airy with lots of windows and the beds were very comfortable and linen was soft and cozy. The toilets were spacious and had luxurious fixtures. We booked the house on bed and breakfast basis. And ordered lunch and dinner A La Carte. The menu selection was good and everything we ordered was delicious. The manager Mr Johnson was amazingly friendly and helpful.
He went above and beyond to make sure that all our requests were fulfilled. The cook was well trained and prepared very tasty food. The living room and dining room was unusually spacious and was very well furnished with white linen covered furniture that made the room look even bigger. The garden was well maintained and had lots of plants and the lawn was well maintained. There were hiking trails around the house if you enjoyed hiking. The house was located within a few minutes drive from Damro factory and about 30 minutes away from Nuwara Eliya. We will definitely go back to visit HighGrove Estate for further vacations.

My husband and I absolutely loved our two night stay at Highgrove estate. It’s a beautiful property with a lovely garden and fantastic views of the hills. What top’s everything else though is the excellent service provided.
