The villa occupies a picture perfect plot on Sri Lanka’s southern coastline with rolling green lawns dotted with sky high palm trees swaying in the sea breeze. From the garden, a charming little gate ushers guests to a sandy beach that’s easily one of the most beautiful in the area. That the villa was inspired by the island’s grand colonial homes is evident both inside and out, from the stately columns which line the verandas to the antique pieces which adorn the beautifully styled rooms.

But despite its historic influences, this lavish villa was made for the modern traveller. Both the interiors and the spacious gardens offer a plush level of comfort that’s second to none. IF Villa exudes the timeless charm and elegance of a classic colonial mansion. The villa’s flawless design was inspired by Vihares and Verandas of Ceylon, Barbara Sansoni’s masterpiece which was first published in the 1970s. In the book, Sansoni’s intricate sketches celebrate the unique charm and lasting beauty of Dutch colonial architecture. That spirit is alive and well in the villa’s graceful columns, breezy verandas, shady courtyards and elegant interiors. The dreamy beachfront setting is simply the icing on top of this artfully measured creation.

Living Room

The villa’s formal living room has real wow factor. The space would not look amiss featured on the pages of a glossy décor magazine or perhaps a future anthology covering the most beautiful Sri Lankan abodes. The room is surrounded by curved double doors which open to the garden and crucially, towards the ocean, providing the ultimate backdrop for relaxed socialising. Polished floors and high ceilings work beautifully with the antique furniture and fresh textiles which include bold Marimekko prints. While there are ample sofas to laze about on in the living room, you can also choose a spot out on the veranda or steal away to the shaded lounge area which gazes over the beach at the edge of the property.

Dining Room

In true island style, meals at IF Villa are served out on the breezy veranda which gazes over the gardens and out to the shimmering blue ocean. Here you will find a sleek glass topped dining table surrounded by 10 dining chairs. With a fresh breeze blowing in from the beach, it really is hard to imagine a more appetising setting. Of course, the villa features a fully equipped kitchen but you’ll likely have little use for it yourself as the property is also staffed with a fabulous private chef.

Garden

The villa sits at the centre of a truly enviable plot of land, with well-groomed lawns encompassing the villa as sky high palm trees paint the scene with their swaying shadows. At the edge of the property, a shaded pergola works as an alfresco lounge room while a row of sunbeds invites you to relax in style. Best of all are the views which look over the clear blue Indian Ocean awaiting right in your backyard. While there is no swimming pool, the unparalleled beach access more than makes up for it. Mere steps from those inviting sun beds, a charming garden gate delivers you directly to one of Sri Lanka’s finest beaches which on most days, you might just have (almost) to yourself.

IF Villa features five bedrooms furnished with beautiful four poster beds – queens in three rooms and twins in the remaining two. The rooms’ timeless décor relies on fresh white walls, cool stone floors and beautiful antique furniture. For added comfort and convenience, each room is adjoined by an ensuite bathroom.

Villa Manager

IF Villa’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

Housekeepers attend the villa daily to take care of all domestic duties.

Butlers

Butlers are on hand everyday to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.

Chef

The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.

Security

It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.
