The villa was meticulously designed by Channa Daswatte, a protégé of Geoffrey Bawa – one of the most celebrated Sri Lankan architects of all time. Spread over three floors, the villa boasts light and airy rooms decorated with custom furniture and one-of-a-kind antiques, with stunning textiles and gorgeous tapestries only adding to the appeal. Ishq Colombo Living
Ishq Colombo’s décor is a beautiful take on Sri Lankan heritage. The gardens are mature and vibrant with lush trees and exotic flowers framing an inviting swimming pool and a tranquil pond. Both the open plan living areas and the glass framed bedrooms are flooded with natural light and furnished with the expertly chosen antique pieces, Moroccan artwork and pettagamas – a chest of drawers or a “Dutch Box” considered an iconic feature of traditional Sinhalese décor. While the interiors are inspired by history, the villa feels anything but outdated. From the Bose sound system to the bespoke steam room, Ishq Colombo is fitted with all the modern comforts you could ask for, with a level of service that’ll make you feel like modern day royalty.
Living Room
The living room is a gorgeous open plan space located on the villa’s ground floor. Two sides of the room are completely open to the elements, inviting in a gentle breeze while you relax in the shade. One side of the space gives directly to the pool, while the other side looks out to the courtyard garden. The living room is incredibly spacious and features two distinct seating areas with elegant armchairs and sofas arranged around coffee tables. The walls are lined with artwork. There is also a library room on the same floor – the perfect spot for catching up on some holiday reading or perhaps indulging in a lazy afternoon nap. The upper floor houses yet another living area, a beautiful space with a vaulted ceiling furnished with elegant sofas, antique chairs and ample bookshelves.
Dining Room
Located next to the living room, the dining room is a stunning space lit up by a massive modern chandelier. An impressive timber dining table sits at the centre of the room and can easily accommodate up to fourteen guests seated on white high back chairs. For a more relaxed setting, there is a cosy breakfast area incorporated to the living room as well. The villa’s kitchen is discreetly tucked to the side of the living areas, allowing the chef to prepare gourmet meals without intruding on your privacy.
Garden
Life at Ishq Colombo flows effortlessly between indoor and outdoor spaces. The attractive gardens work as a second living room and also add a lush twist to the interiors, with generous windows providing dreamy views throughout the villa. The property centres on a courtyard which blooms with mature trees and colourful flowers, with a serene pond adding a moment of calm. Shaded verandas offer an indulgent break in the shade, while a playful swing provides some fun photo ops. The living areas open to a private swimming pool which offers welcome respite from the midday sun. The property is crowned with an idyllic rooftop terrace framed by greenery – your own private sanctuary in the heart of Colombo.
Spa
The villa’s top floor houses beautiful spa facilities. These include two massage beds, a jacuzzi and a steam room. This is the perfect setting for indulging in Sri Lanka’s famed healing traditions and luxuriant spa treatments.

Ishq Colombo features four bedrooms echoing the villa’s elegant colonial style décor. The bedrooms feature beautifully chosen classic furniture, unique art and ornate textiles. Generous windows provide ample natural light and lush views of the gardens. The classic décor is juxtaposed by modern amenities including Bose speakers which are available in each room. The bedrooms are furnished with king-sized beds and adjoined by ensuite bathrooms. There are three bedrooms on the upper floor while one bedroom is located close to the pool on the ground floor.

The first bedroom is one of three rooms located on the villa’s upper floor. This is a grand space decorated with opulent carpets and tapestries, with windows opening to enviable views of the pool and garden. The bedroom is furnished with a four-poster bed and a pair of elegant chairs, while the lounge area comes with a comfortable sofa set and a TV. An opulent dressing room connects the room to the ensuite bathroom which features a rain shower, twin basins and a toilet.

The second bedroom is also located on the upper floor. Equally impressive as the first room, this palatial suite features a bedroom and an adjoining lounge room. The service was truly excellent, the manager and staff were friendly and attentive, always making sure that everything was taken care of. This villa is located in the center of Colombo yet away from the hustle and bustle of the City. I enjoyed the privacy and tranquility of the villa, which were also luxuriously designed with my comfort in mind. The food was a highlight of my stay. It was absolutely delicious – prepared by a professional chef, with a focus on local ingredients that added to the authentic Sri Lankan experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Isqh Colombo to anyone looking for a luxurious getaway in Colombo.

What a Place to be!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Ishq, and I have to say, it was an absolute delight. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the hotel’s architecture and aesthetic appeal on every corner. The lobby with green and elegant looking with ample fresh air and space. ideal furniture in each location and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. As I made my way to my room, I was struck by the attention to detail that had gone into its design. The furnishings were of the highest quality, and the bed was so comfortable that I had a hard time getting out of it in the morning. The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed, with plush towels and a generous selection of high-end toiletries. But what really made my stay at this boutique hotel stand out was the staff. Everyone I encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely interested in making my stay as enjoyable as possible. they had good knowledge of the location its artistic and historical value and so much more to offer in the limited time. my check-in time was midnight due to some commitments I had thus they gave the highest quality of service even at that time of the day. All in all, I would highly recommend ishq to anyone looking for a stylish and memorable stay in the city. It was an absolute pleasure to be a guest here, and I can’t wait to come back again.

A hidden gem, in the heart of Colombo
My stay at Ishq Colombo was magical, to say the least. One wouldn’t expect to find such a well designed, well-maintained, tranquil property, right in the heart of Colombo! The pictures that you see online do not do justice. From the moment you enter the property, it feels as if you’re stepping into a different realm. The Bawa-inspired design, the ambient music, the landscaping, the furniture, and everything else in the property seem to have been well thought out and designed in a way that they take you away from the everyday bustle of Colombo. Every bit of the property was kept in pristine condition. The food and the service were top-notch. Villa Manager Vronsky and Head Butler Keminda were both very accommodating and friendly. Vronsky’s tour of the property, explaining the history behind its many artefacts and elements, was very interesting and added to the whole experience. The host, Mr. Mevantha De Silva, handled matters in a very professional manner and ensured that every aspect of our stay was well taken care of. Truly an amazing experience. Keep up the great work!

Vronsky and Keminda made us some amazing cocktails and mocktails throughout the day and even stayed up entertaining us till all of the guests called it a night. They kept bringing us snacks all the way till 4 am with massive smiles on their faces. This to me is the epitome of Sri Lankan hospitality.

Beautiful location to host a bachelorette!
It was our best friend’s bachelorette and the group had a hard time finding a location…. This was the only villa that all the girls loved … pictures don’t do justice to the villa … the ambiance around creates the perfect atmosphere for a get-together! We had a young chef present us with our lunch! And it was absolutely delicious! The portions were big that some of us couldn’t even finish it .. some girls had the Thai option and the rest had seafood pasta! But the dessert stole the spotlight! It was a chocolate dome filled with sorbet! The rooms were spacious and homely! The amenities provided were of high quality.. the bathrooms were very clean… the gardens were well maintained… Finally the staff! Vronsky, Keminda, Aruna, and Asela are such superstars! We didn’t have to lift a finger .. felt like they knew what we were going to ask for! It’s been only a few days since our visit and we cannot stop talking about it!

The industry needs more places like this that bring out the true essence of luxury living. Everyone knew their role at the property and didn’t hesitate to go over and above to ensure that we felt like we were at home. This is a place that is worth every penny if you are interested in Art, and architecture and have a great appetite because the food at Ishq is a box you have to tick. Loved the continental breakfast and I most definitely enjoyed the complimentary Sri Lankan breakfast given to me courtesy of Vronsky who is the villa manager.
Kudos to Mevantha who heads sales for the Villa for maintaining such high standards and delivering what is promised especially when the hospitality industry is been challenged with many unavoidable circumstances. I and my wife will most definitely visit again wanting more of the “Ishq experience”

I’d seen pics of the place but they do not do justice to the space and the decor. The suite we used was magnificent and the staff is beyond exceptional with their service. Kheminda and Vronsky are the superstar staff to watch out for. We even had the chance to sample some finger food and I was quite impressed. Full marks for this visit and I can’t wait for my next one!
