Villa Kirana was designed by the esteemed Sri Lankan architect Channa Daswatte who infused the property with his signature sophistication, forging a connection between the structures and their surroundings that feels near poetic. The villa is built in a U-shape around an impressively sized and irresistibly blue swimming pool, with open plan spaces ensuring an effortless and lasting connection with the elements. The interiors are fresh and modern and yet they convey a deep understanding and appreciation of rich Sri Lankan heritage. This is a place to rest, rejoice and rejuvenate, surrounded by the beauty and splendour of Sri Lankan creativity and craftsmanship.

Living Room

The living room is an incredibly elegant space positioned at the heart of the property. With its beautiful high ceiling, sleek furnishings and beautifully chosen materials, the space strikes the perfect balance between modern style and Sri Lankan heritage. There are two generous sofas to relax on, with an assortment of arm chairs providing even more options. The open layout of this grand space allows guests to indulge in the indoor/outdoor lifestyle of the tropics – not to mention the stellar views that gaze over the pool and out to the ocean waiting beyond. A few steps from the main seating area you will find a sleek bar counter – the perfect excuse for a round of cocktails at sunset.

Dining Room

The dining area is a fluid extension of the open plan living room. Housed beneath a high vaulted ceiling and ample ceiling fans, this breezy setup invites guests to dine alfresco while also keeping nice and cool. The open plan layout allows you to truly appreciate the surrounding scenery and hey – nothing beats dining out by the ocean! For a more intimate setting, you can also enjoy your meals out by the pool – this setting is particularly enchanting during and after sunset. The kitchen is discretely tucked away from the living and dining areas, allowing the staff to prepare meals without having to interrupt private moments spent with friends and family.

Garden

It is difficult to imagine a more heavenly setting. The villa’s 20-metre-long pool is stunning in its own right, not to mention being spacious enough for clocking some serious laps in. But it is the setting that really takes this stunner of a pool to the next level. The azure blue pool is surrounded by a rolling stretch of lawn dotted with sky high palm trees that play in the tropical breeze. After a few easy steps, this idyllic greenery gives way to a soft expanse of sand that’s hugged by the salty waves of the Indian Ocean. That’s right – you literally have a paradise beach waiting right in your own backyard. Naturally, the villa was designed for making the most of its one in a million setting with several picturesque nooks scattered thought the garden. You can enjoy an alfresco massage in the shade of those picture perfect palm trees (the waves rolling in provide the ultimate soothing soundtrack), enjoy breakfast outside by the pool or simply laze about on the deck and take in every last ounce of this rare piece of paradise.

Villa Kirana features four bedrooms. The rooms are styled in calm tones of white, grey and beige, with vibrant shades of green, blue and turquoise echoing the colours of the pool, the ocean and the sunny blue skies of Sri Lanka. Each room features ample windows, storage space, an ensuite bathroom and a writing desk for those moments when you simply have to break out the laptop. Two of the rooms interconnect, creating a functional “family suite” or simply a convenient setup for guests wanting to stay close to each other. As each room still has its own entrance and a private bathroom, there is still plenty of privacy for those who crave it.

Villa Kirana is a four-bedroom villa that’s built over a single floor. The main pavilion overlooks the villa’s 20-metre-long pool and houses the living and dining areas. The living areas are flanked by two bedrooms on either side, two of which interconnect.

Your stay in Villa Kirana is made enjoyable by the professional staff. Villa Kirana’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly Sri Lankan hospitality.

Villa Manager

Villa Kirana’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

Housekeepers attend the villa daily to take care of all domestic duties.

Butlers

Butlers are on hand daily to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout the day.

Chef

The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.

Security

It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.

Villa Kirana is located right on the beach in Bentota, an idyllic beach town nestled on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. The villa’s location is nothing short of heavenly – the only thing standing between the villa and a paradise stretch of beach is a private pool, a patch of green lawn and a gaggle of palm trees swaying merrily in the breeze. You will often find this beautiful, long stretch of beach near deserted, with the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean stretching out as far as the eye can see. You can stroll down to the nearby turtle hatchery or simply enjoy the stunning scenery. Lunuganga, the estate of famed local architect Geoffrey Bawa – a close friend of Channa Daswatte who designed Villa Kirana – is located about 10 minutes from the villa. This fascinating local landmark is not to be missed. The water sports available at Bentota Lagoon are also less than 10 minutes away.
