Kurumba House Living
Life at the villa revolves around the great outdoors, whether that mean clocking laps around the pool, enjoying strolls along the beach or simply catching a breather on the shaded veranda. The villa’s design is a beautiful mix of luminous white décor and colourful Sri Lankan touches.
Living Room
The shaded veranda works as a breezy alfresco living room with views overlooking the lawns. Take your pick between the light toned sofas and armchairs and enjoy swapping stories with your companions.
Dining Room
The veranda also includes an intimate dining area with a round dining table seating all four guests on white chairs. From the dining area, a door leads to the villa’s kitchen.
Garden
Kurumba House is hugged by generous green lawns which give way to the soft sands waiting on the beach beyond. To the back of the villa, you’ll discover a delightful hidden surprise: a turquoise swimming pool hugged by a sun deck dotted with loungers and parasols.

Kurumba House has two bedrooms, both furnished with a queen-sized canopy bed. Each room is adjoined by an ensuite bathroom. The rooms are dominantly white with tasteful splashes of brighter colour.

Your stay in Kurumba House is made enjoyable by the professional staff. Kurumba House’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly hospitality.
Villa Manager
Kurumba House’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.
Butlers
Butlers are on hand every day to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.
Chef
The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.

It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.
Location
Kurumba House is located in Tangalle on the south coast of Sri Lanka. The villa’s generous gardens open directly to Mawella Bay, providing guests with enviable beachfront access. There are a handful of restaurants in the area. You’re also within easy reach of the main coastal road which connects you to the national parks in the east and the beautiful beaches and iconic Galle Fort to the west.

A magical weekend!
Had a fantastic time the last weekend. The property is simply stunning with a gorgeous beach just a stone’s throw away. The staff was just excellent catering to our every need. They even organized a cookery demonstration for my friend from the UK.
The food was out of this world, and the kid’s meals were so delicious my usually picky eater kids just wolfed it all down! Every meal and dessert was perfectly cooked.
All in all, a simply perfect place. We will most definitely be back!

Little Piece of Heaven
Everything about our stay was perfect. We have traveled much of the world and Kurumba is now one of my favorite stays ever, anywhere.
The villa is lovely and very comfortable. The outdoor living was such a treat, particularly in the evenings. The private pool was an added bonus. The beach access was ideal and there were only a few bicycles passing now and then and very few people passing through. The food was fantastic – everything we were served was delicious. The staff is so attentive, professional, and discrete, considering there is always someone within earshot to be of assistance. Special shoutout to Rupa who was so attentive and Oshan the property manager – they really made our stay perfect. Also, thanks to Sewwandi who very patiently coordinated my stay via Whatsapp.
We will most certainly be back soon!

A perfect stay
Kurumba is completely separate and private and has two bedrooms, an outside lounge area, and a kitchen. It also has a decent-sized swimming pool (way bigger than the plunge pool would have been) and a vast garden area right in front of the sea, all just for us! Lying on a lounger looking up at the stars at night was just incredible.
This one become our favorite due to the lovely gardens and pool. Mawella itself is very quiet – you really feel like you’ve escaped. I’d wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone wanting a serene, private holiday with your own staff who have the perfect balance between being attentive and not overbearing. The food was delicious too (much better than other hotels we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka). And try the coconut ice cream – amazing!

Perfect
The villa itself is just perfect; the location is too. We arrived as a family of monkeys was strolling across the lawn and to the sound of screeching peacocks and other exotic (to us at least) birds. Beyond the gate at the end of the garden is the beach, a largely deserted sweeping curve of grey sand, dotted with fishing boats, fringed by mangrove trees, and lapped and slapped by foaming and often crashing waves.
Two elegant ensuite bedrooms lie side-by-side and are sympathetically decorated with a different styles. Outside there is a huge verandah for lounging, eating, and drinking in the view of the lush gardens and beyond towards the beach. The pool is set behind the villa and is cleaned early each morning (which unfortunately puts it out of action for crack-of-dawn swimming). As it’s surrounded by trees, leaves, and petals constantly drop but these are scooped out as soon as it’s realized someone wishes to use it. The food too was mostly very good (I can especially recommend the Sri Lankan fare)
However, it was the perfect relaxing end to a memorable holiday and is somewhere we would definitely revisit.
