My stay at Maya Tangalle was nothing short of exceptional.
The location itself is breathtaking serene, picturesque, and deeply calming. What truly sets this place apart is how beautifully they have preserved the old architecture. It’s not just charming it’s timeless. You feel like you’re stepping into history, but with all the comfort of modern luxury.
The food was outstanding. I don’t usually compliment food unless it genuinely impresses me, but this was on another level flavourful, well-prepared, and consistently excellent throughout the stay. And then, the people. From the manager to every single member of the staff, the hospitality was remarkable. Warm, welcoming, and incredibly flexible, they made every effort to ensure a perfect experience. The genuine smiles and care they showed elevated the entire stay to something truly special.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Maya Tangalle to anyone and everyone it’s more than just a stay, it’s an experience.

One of the best villas we’ve ever stayed in!
Our stay was nothing short of sensational. This hotel is a stunning colonial-style gem—beautifully preserved, quiet, and incredibly elegant.
• The Rooms: Spacious and perfectly designed to match the colonial aesthetic without sacrificing modern comfort.
• The Food: Absolutely delicious! From breakfast to lunch and dinner, every meal was a highlight.
• The Service: The entire staff was exceptionally kind and attentive.
• The Tours: They offer wonderful personalized trips to local temples and beaches. A special thank you to Asoka, our driver, who made our excursions unforgettable.
If you are visiting Sri Lanka, this is a must-stay. Highly recommended!

A fantastic stay at Maya Tangalle.
We had a fantastic stay at Maya Tangalle. Kavi and the team were all very friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Asoka deserves a special mention, taking us to various activities including the cave temple, brass making, pottery and curd making. He also took us to the hotel beach which was fantastic. The food was excellent too. We would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful accommodation, top notch staff
This is a special place to stay . The rooms are elegant, spacious , beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were excellent our compliments to the chef . The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and Prakash and Kavishaka made sure we wanted for nothing and the hotel’s driver made our excursions fun. Again , nothing was too much trouble. One of our most relaxing stays in Sri Lanka .

Even five stars is not enough!! These people are really amazing!
The food is of superb quality, the service is excellent, the rooms are luxurious especially the president suite, the garden is full of beautiful trees and well maintained. The excellent driver takes you to all beaches, places to visit, golf etc in an efficient way! We loved it all. The closing dinner in the garden surrounded by small torches was very special with the lobster thermidor as the special dish… and that one was of high cooking quality!

An oasis of paradise
We stayed at this exclusive hotel as part of a tour of Sri Lanka last year. Formerly a Dutch-style holiday home with small tasteful extensions, built around an L-shaped pool, it offers 2 suites and 3 luxurious rooms. It is situated in a walled garden on the edge of rice fields, 15 minutes inland from the small resort of Tangalle. We stayed in one of the suites. It was enormous – as was the comfy ebony bed – and furnished with priceless antiques. The luxury bathroom was the size of a small living-room.
The service was worthy of a 6 star hotel! The small but attentive staff knew what you wanted before you did. And as for the food, all freshly prepared from local ingredients by a London Hilton-trained chef – it was truly amazing.
After two weeks of travelling around this beautiful island, we were only too glad to indulge ourselves in the total tranquility of this small paradise. Never have I felt so much peace with the world.

We stayed at Maya Tangalle for three nights and honestly it was exceptional. The service was so good it felt like they secretly trained for the Olympics of hospitality. Everything was personal, thoughtful, and somehow always perfectly timed.
The food was unreal. Easily the best Sri Lankan food I’ve had, the kind that makes you rethink every mediocre meal you’ve ever tolerated.
Sampath and Prashath were hospitality personified. Sampath kept doing these quiet little things that made the whole stay feel special without ever trying too hard. And the property itself is just stunning. The kind of place that slows your brain down and reminds you what peace feels like.
If I could bottle the vibe of Maya Tangalle, I would.

The place, the people — everything was outstanding. We received the best service we’ve experienced in any country. The staff constantly went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, and even the room service was the best we’ve ever had. The food was also truly exceptional — the best we had in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended!

Heaven on Earth
Food was excellent, service super excellent, the decor by Geoffrey Bawa added to the ambience and it was all topped off with the warmest of Sri Lankan hospitality. It was indeed heaven on earth. All made possible by Prashath and Sampath.

Our 2 nights at Maya Tangelle
We spend 2 nights at Maya Tangelle and had the best time, Prashath and his team were amazing, they made the stay very comfortable. All the staff including the cleaning and gardening staff were very welcoming and helpful. We loved the welcome ceremony at first arrival and cold towel everytime we returned from a trip outside.
We had a full board and we were over the moon with the quality of the food absolutely loved the fresh tasty food whenever we wanted. We made special requests and the amazing chef delivered with 5 star restaurant quality food and the amazing staff really pampered us.
We had a Spa session, a dip in the amazing pool, a yoga session a trip to the beach, a visit to the handcrafted brass factory and a trip to the the Tangalle town for shopping all thanks to the amazing staff for taking us around.
We stayed in the delux bedroom which was immaculate and so well maintained with the amazing brass fittings and beautiful fit out. The property was very well maintained with garden staff and cleaning staff always working to keep it in tip top condition.
Thank you Prashath and the team for the hospitality we had an amazing time and wish to come back again!!

Simply stunning
Simply stunning, faultless! I don’t think we’ve ever stayed in such a charismatic property. Architecturally influenced by Geoffrey Bawa, responsible for so many notable Sri Lankan properties, Maya Tangalle stands apart from so many heritage properties by its attention to detail, level of finish and decor and the overwhelmingly helpful and courteous staff. Set in fifty acres, most of which is its own paddy fields that stretch beyond the manicured garden of two acres or so, Go here if you want to be pampered from start to finish. An outstanding chef capped our stay with lovely creations. We stayed in one of the main house bedrooms, complete with a mini staircase to get into bed! A real experience.
