Shakuzen Overview
Shakuzen is a beautiful pair of masterfully designed twin chalets, set against the captivating backdrop of serene Hokkaido forest. Located halfway between the Annupuri and Niseko Village ski resorts (it takes just five minutes to reach either), the mirror image chalets offers an exclusive stay in the coveted Niseko ski region, far from the madding crowd.
Each chalet features three bedrooms, though you can also book them together to accommodate up to 18 people. The chalets come with a well-designed bunk rooms that are ideal for the kids. The upper-floor living areas are lined with full-wall glass looking out to the snow and of course, there’s a well-laid out ski room for storing your gear after hitting the slopes.

Shakuzen Living
The two Shakuzen chalets – Mori and Kawa – are mirror images of each other, each one offering luxurious comfort and beautifully styled interiors. Much of the walls are taken up by full-wall windows, with endless natural light high-lighting the elegantly muted colour scheme and stylishly understated furnishings.
Living Room
The living area of each chalet has been thoughtfully placed on the upper floor, with one whole wall taken up by beautiful cathedral windows. The living room and dining area are divided by the staircase connecting this upper floor to the floor below. In the lounge area, you will find two elegant grey sofas arranged around a modern coffee table, facing a sleek designer fireplace and a flatscreen TV mounted beside it.
Dining Room
The dining area sits at the other end of the upper floor living areas, with a white dining table surrounded by eight matching stairs and lit up by modern light fixtures suspended from the high ceiling. The dining area extends to an open-plan kitchen fitted with all the essentials including a four-hob cooktop, fridge oven, microwave, rice cooker, toaster, coffee maker and dishwasher.
Shakuzen Bedrooms
Each of the Shakuzen chalets features three bedrooms. The master bedroom is located upstairs and features a fixed king-sized bed. The two guest bedrooms are on the ground floor. One comes with a split bed (king or two singles) and the other comes with two sets of bunk beds and a day bed. Each chalet can sleep nine people comfortably.

The master bedroom is located on the upper level, adjacent to the living and dining areas. Looking out to the beautiful Hokkaido landscape through full-wall cathedral windows, the room features a king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower.

The second bedroom is one of two guest rooms located on the ground level. This room is fitted with a king-sized bed which can also be split into two single beds if needed. There is a bathroom with a Japanese style bath and separate shower, as well as a standalone guest toilet right outside in the hallway.

The third bedroom is also on the ground floor. This room is ideal for children as it comes with two sets of bunk beds plus a pull-out bed from under one of the bunks. There’s also a fun media nook to keep the kids entertained. The room shares the same bathroom and toilet with the second bedroom.

Shakuzen is made up of two twin chalets: Mori and Kawa which are mirror images of each other. Each property is built over two floors and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. When booked individually, each chalet is completely private and can accommodate nine guests. Larger groups can book both chalet to accommodate up to 18 guests.

Property Manager
The chalet’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the chalet. The property manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
Our chalets in Japan often have housekeeping 1 – 2 times per week depending on the property. Each chalet will have their own cleaning schedule.

The Shakuzen chalets are located in the peaceful Soga area in Niseko, Japan. Surrounded by serene forest and fringed by a mountain river, the properties offer a peaceful stay surrounded by Hokkaido’s pristine beauty. The Niseko Village ski resort is only five minutes away by car and also offers a host of dining options. Alternatively, the Annupuri ski lifts are also just five minutes away driving in the other direction.

This is an exquisite property, nestled beautifully between three popular slopes, several onsens and amazing cafes, bars, restaurants. The nearby cheese factory, gin distillery and Michelin star Japanese restaurant are not to be missed. The house is modern, brand new, roomy and well designed. The neighbourhood is amazing and tranquil with everything you need just a few minutes away.

What a great return to these beautifully appointed twin properties. We first stayed there pre-Covid (was one of the first guests when it opened). We were delighted to return recently to see that Shakuzen had lost none of its charms.
The venue is conveniently located near the Annunpuri lifts (away from the Hirafu crowds) and decorated in sophisticated Scandi style. The adults appreciated the spacious house and serene grounds while the kids thoroughly enjoyed the amazing bunkroom complete with media facilities.

What a fantastic property. Either rent one villa which has 3 rooms or the villa next door to create 6 bedrooms. Ideal for two or more families. Looks out to a forest view which is dreamy in winter.
