The décor is exquisite, giving equal nods to alpine chalets and Japanese minimalism – the boulder which dominates the foyer makes a statement right on arrival. While every detail has been executed to perfection, there are some features that make Soma Residence a true standout, the piece de resistance being the chalet’s authentic onsen bath. Rather than tap water, the bath is fed by a natural hot spring. As if that weren’t enough, this decadent bath also looks out to a serene snow-covered forest. Bliss!

Soma Residence Living
Soma Residence feels like a soothing sanctuary, with a tranquil sense of Zen permeating the whole property. The colour palette relies on dark timber and off-white, with a style and form reminiscent of traditional Japanese minka houses. Every aspect of the chalet has been designed with great care and attention to detail. The end result is both beautifully restrained and sublimely comfortable – we dare you not to fall head over heels for that authentic onsen bath.
Living Room
With its high ceiling and exposed beams, the living room nods to classic alpine chalets while the black, white and timber décor adds a calming Japanese twist. This elegant open plan space comprises both the living and dining areas. The lounge area features a generous grey sofa, a plush armchair, and a huge TV screen. It’s the perfect setup for cosy nights spent in with your group. The chalet is fitted with Bang & Olufsen bluetooth audio gear so you can curate the soundtrack to your liking.
Dining Room
The chalet’s gorgeous timber dining table is located just a few easy steps from the living room sofa. The table can seat six guests, with a beautiful granite island separating the dining area from the kitchen. The kitchen is fully loaded with high grade kitchenware and Miele appliances.
Soma Residence Bedrooms
Soma Residence features two bedrooms. These luxe rooms are fitted with Simmons beds similar to those you find in five-star hotels. Down duvets and pillows ensure a heavenly night’s sleep even on the coldest nights. The two rooms are located close together and they share a luxurious bathroom between them, complete with a Japanese onsen bath.

The first bedroom is located next to the dining area. It features a king-sized bed, large windows, and a walk-in wardrobe. A standalone bathroom with an onsen bath is located right next door, and there are two standalone toilets right across the hall.

Soma Residence Layout
Soma Residence is a two-bedroom chalet that’s built over a single floor. The chalet features an open plan living and dining room. The two bedrooms are located close to each other, and they share a bathroom between them. The bathroom features a large Japanese bath fed by a natural hot spring. In addition, there are two standalone toilets in the hallway.

Your stay is made enjoyable by the professional staff who have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly hospitality.
Property Manager
The chalet’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the chalet. The property manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
Our chalets in Japan often have housekeeping 1 – 2 times per week depending on the property. Each chalet will have their own cleaning schedule.

Soma Residence is located in the Hakuba ski region in Japan. Hakuba is one of Japan’s premier ski districts, located just three hours from Tokyo. With 10 ski resorts and over 200 ski runs to explore, there is something for everyone in Hakuba. Soma Residence is located in the prestigious Wadano neighbourhood, surrounded by picturesque trees and other chalets and pensions. The Happo One ski hub is about one kilometre away – either walk 15 minutes in your ski boots or hop on the shuttle bus. The nearest shuttle stop is just 200 metres away so getting to the slopes will be easy.
