    “First time”

First time trip to Jamaica and Stayed at Strawberry Hill. Loved the views and fresh air on the mountain. Sleeping with no A/c, was refreshing. Mornings felt like they lasted forever. I hope to go back again soon, I love day dreaming about being on the tearrace over looking the city.

    “OMG Beautiful”

Strawberry Hill Hotel is just gorgeous. Amazing views over Kingston at the front and the Blue Mountains valley at the back. The villas are wonderful to stay in, old world charm, spacious and very comfortable. The view from our Highgate balcony was breathtaking. The infinity pool is glorious, a little chilly to start with but after heat of the city it’s a perfect way to relax.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good. We had dinner both nights and it was okay. Not great for the prices. Crab cakes were good as was the chicken main. We had a wonderful stay and really recommend it as a sanctuary after the heat and pace of Kingston. Go it’s worth it.

    “Perfect Anniversary Weekend”

My wife and I own a hotel in Negril and wanted to get away for a weekend to relax in the Blue Mountains. We could not have picked a more perfect place to stay than Strawberry Hill.

The entire staff go out of their way to accommodate you. Special thank you to Kristina who handled our booking. She arranged a special anniversary gift when we arrived, walked us to the room when we checked in, made us comfortable and was a wonderful host for Strawberry Hill. Also a big thank you to Crystal who took great care of us in the restaurant, always with a smile.

The grounds are beautiful, the room was fantastic, the breakfast and dinners were amazing, the bar was comfy and relaxing….overall I could not recommend Strawberry Hill more and will recommend it to all my friends visiting Jamaica and to all our guests who stay with us in Negril and ask us about things to do and places to go on island.

It is an ideal place to relax, disconnect and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains.
We will be back for sure and cannot wait to wake up to the sound of birds and little else.

“Beautiful location, stunning facilities and wonderful service.”

I stayed in a cottage and couldn’t fault a thing. The weekend trip was beautiful and the spa was very relaxing. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the views spectacular. Dane was also great at introducing me to Kingston when he collected us from the airport. I’d love to stay longer and go back again!

“Worth it for the views alone”

The views from the hotel are absolutely spectacular. You can happily spend the whole weekend with a rum in hand staring out across the mountains. The rooms are rustic but cute, and it feels like you are staying in an old colonial house. We loved the balcony terrace by our room. The pool is nice, right on the edge of the mountain looking out across Kingston.

The buildings are made from wood and are therefore very thin, so there is some residual noise from the valley at night. The food in the restaurant is good but not amazing – but the prices are fair considering the location of the hotel. There could be a few more loungers near the pool.

    “Impressive!”

Strawberry Hill is beautiful! It has an old world charm with excellent food, great service and fabulous views of the mountains, the city and the harbor. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a private porch and a view!.

The bed was four poster with privacy netting, very nice touch. The entire property had a historic quaint quality and modern amenities. Loved the infinity pool. Staff was very interested in our comfort and very welcoming. Would definitely return!

    “Wonderful mountaintop Jamaica Hotel”

The views, the views. the views! That is why you come here!!! Wonderful, quiet, scenic hotel. Hillside cottages with views of Kingston in the valley below or of the mountains. Quiet place to get away from it all. There is a pretty but small infinity pool with views of Kingston far below (the sign by the pool said that they wouldn’t deliver food poolside, but we ordered off of the lunch menu and had our food and drinks delivered poolside one day). The restaurant has wonderful views as well; lovely setting to dine in – the food is good, but nothing to write home about.

No fitness center, but there is a spa which I didn’t have a chance to try out. The wifi and telephone service are slim to none unless you are near the office (and one night in the library I found great cell phone service). A friend and I were here in early January for 3 days/2 nights. We rented the Highgate Cottage which is a 2 story, 2 bedroom cottage, 3 porches. Fabulous four poster beds that you need a stool to climb into and that are wrapped with mosquito netting; overall furnishings and decor were tasteful – colonial style. My room had remarkable views of the mountains and a porch with a hammock along with lounge chairs! The noise does travel over the valley so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs or put on the white noise from a smart phone app on. Bathrooms are clean, but boy could they be renovated – don’t expect fancy bathrooms here nor with the kitchen that came with our cottage (but who is using the kitchen anyway?).

Nice hotel library/lounge (though on the small size) for post dining/evening time hanging out. There was a tv in there and people were watching a game one night, Staff is very helpful though a couple of times we did have to call repeated times for a few things. Not sure if it is just a Jamaican thing that you have to ask for things multiple times. Walked to the nearby coffee plantation and had a very informative tour and some amazing Blue Mountain coffee which is some of the best coffee in the world. Good place to pick up some gifts for friends and family back home.

The hotel arranged for a guide (Ricky – definitely request him) for the Gordon trail hike. Easy hike downhill (they had a car that took us back) that ends in the local water hole. Ricky was great at showing us all of the medicinal plants and picking local fruits that we could eat (and some medicinal plants that we sniffed). He is a real amateur botanist. Interesting trail also in seeing how the local mountain/farm folks live (huts are along the trail).

They picked us up from the Kingston airport and the driver was great. We had a couple hour delay at the beginning of the ride to the hotel due to a bus breaking down in the middle of the road amidst a New Years day street side massive party (it’s Jamaica, mon). My friend and I hopped out of the van and mingled with partygoers and took photos and I always felt like the driver was watching out for us and taking care of us. The ride is a bit twisting to the hotel, but nothing to be scared of. For me, 3 days was enough time spent there. Not much to do and only so much relaxing that I can do. When and if I come back to Jamaica, I definitely will include a Strawberry Hill stay in my plans. If I were to classify this hotel, I would call it quaint luxury (is there such a thing?).

    “Wonderful!!!”

My wife and I spent three nights at Strawberry Hill for our honeymoon recently. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

First off, Dayne was our driver for three days and his service is outstanding. He’s very knowledgeable about Kingston and Jamaica in general. He gave us an informative driving tour on our day trip to Kingston for the Bob Marley museum – which was well worth it. He also transported us to Port Antonio later taking us over the Blue Mountains in a scenic trip.

Adriana the manager introduced herself right away and was helpful as we pieced together our trip on the fly. We thoroughly loved the tour of the UCC coffee plantation; best coffee in the world.

The property itself is as gorgeous as the photos depict. Incredible views over Kingston. You can feel the living history on the property. I watched the Iceland-England game in the cool bar den which was a nice treat. And the food at the restaurant is absolutely top notch – especially the desserts and the “continental” breakfast – which is by far the best continental breakfast ever.

Our room was the Cedar room and was very nice with hand carved wood accents and well-nestled in nature.

Overall we wholeheartedly agree with the five star reviews and carry home lovely memories of our honeymoon at Strawberry Hill.

    Much love :)
