The Chedi Club is set within Balinese rice terraces hidden just outside the cultural hub of Bali – Ubud. The Chedi Club offers stunning views of Mount Agung from the intimate gardens around the property. The one bedroom pool villa has an eight-meter private pool for a proper swim. Each of nine, tropical palm-fringed private one bedroom pool villas is furnished with Balinese day beds and sun lounges for relaxing by the pool, a cosy gazebo (bale) for dining anytime. The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah’s owner, Hendra Hadiprana originally built this one-off two-bedroom estate as the main villa accommodation for himself and his wife. The Hadiprana villa is a spacious property featuring exceptional paintings, artifacts and antiques from his personal art collection.
Both the bedrooms are like master bedrooms with queen size beds with en-suite bathrooms. The spacious living and dining area is perfect for hosting intimate dinner parties or simply relaxing with a good book on the lounge. There is no kitchen but with 24-hour butler service why would you even need one? Outside the villa in the lush tropical Balinese gardens, sits a semi-private, 10-metre long swimming pool for your private use. The Hadiprana villa can sleep 4 adults + 2 child or 6 adults.

“Bliss”
We booked 4 nights at the spa villa for 3 pax which was confirmed via email as the online booking system was not available. However, upon arrival we were told that they have reservations for only 2 pax which I already suspected as the driver that picked us up from airport mentioned 2 pax. It was sorted out quickly after I forwarded a copy of the email. The welcome letter was addressed to Mr. Lim and Mr.Toh, Which is wrong and the staff repeatedly addressed us wrongly. Though everything was sorted out professionally and promptly, I must say I was a little disappointed that the reservation and welcome letter was wrong as I would expect better administrative from a luxury hotel chain.
The air conditioning in our room wasn’t functioning well the 1st night and we were sweating throughout the night but was fixed after the 2nd night. Our butler, Sri whom was very new to Chedi did try her very best to accommodate to us but definitely has room for improvement.
Having said all that, it was one of the best holiday resort we have been to. The landscape, the service and friendliness from staff, afternoon tea and cocktails & the daily 90 mins massage made our stay an enjoyable holiday. Our villa was facing the swans and lily pond that made a picture perfect opening the doors to every morning, feeling peaceful and blissful. The breakfast was very good and looking out to the padi fields with gentle cool breeze made it spectacular!
Must try their fresh fruit juices and the fruit preserves – the best I have had!
Every staff was friendly and ever trying to please to our requests. The Driver, Fit was always punctual.
Highly recommend The Chedi for a peaceful, beautiful getaway for couples. Wouldn’t recommend for family with young children.

“A quiet retreat”
Chedi Ubud lived up to its name as a quiet and luxurious accommodation. Service levels met expectations while we were there and the location was quiet, away from the hustle and bustle, overlooking padi fields.
We stayed in both the spa villa and pool villa. The spa villa would be ideal for guests who prefer in room spas. The pool villa has a bit more privacy as it it was enclosed with a lovely lap pool. The spa at Chedi has a nice view of the rice paddies and is spacious. Daily breakfast was held in a lovely alfresco area, allowing one to relax completely in a serene environment. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
However, we were disappointed that despite writing a long letter/completing the feedback form, and complimenting individual staff and how each of the different staff had helped us, it was not acknowledged. Instead, we were sent the generic email a few days later asking us for our feedback. The after-service experience could be improved to leave guests with a long-lasting positive impression of Chedi accommodations.

“Bali at its very best”
It’s really difficult to add to all the other rave reviews. There is something special about the Chedi Club.
The beautifully landscaped gardens, the pools, the statues, the view down the rice fields combine to make the setting unbeatable. Add to that sublime levels of service, delicious food, the inclusion of so many extras in the room price ( minibar, evening cocktail, laundry, wifi etc), the attention of a personal butler and you have a hotel in a million. For the first time ever I felt emotional when checking out. Thank you to everyone for a truly memorable stay!
