Funky, functional and downright fabulous – welcome to The Moo! This cool contemporary chalet cuts a striking figure amid Hakuba’s tranquil forests. In fact, the setting is so serene that it might be hard to believe that you’re just a stroll from the main dining strip and just a few minutes’ drive from the slopes. Though slope side fun is never too far, The Moo does its best to tempt you to stay in. The chalet is lavishly spacious and fully loaded with cool features designed to make you feel right at home, ranging from massive living areas to a custom bunk room. There are huge TVs to keep you entertained and a designer kitchen framed by a huge, 16-seater dining area. The Moo is the perfect place to let loose and have some fun, whether you’re planning on hitting the slopes or simply cosying up inside.

Just as the quirky name suggests, The Moo perfectly captures whimsical modern design. The interiors were created by ipse ipsa ipsum, a sustainable brand that celebrates craftsmanship and fine design. The chalet’s edgy façade and gallery like rooms create the perfect backdrop for the brand’s innovative design features, from cowhide dining chairs to custom made bunk beds. That high design extends to the outdoor areas as well. There are two decks for guests to choose from with a fabulous firepit adding the final flourish.

Living Room

The chalet’s living and dining areas are located upstairs where full wall windows ensure lovely snow-covered views and an abundance of natural light. The living room is crowned with a high slanted ceiling which only adds to the gallery like feel of the space. The room is furnished with three cobalt blue sofas, beautiful circular coffee tables and a cowhide ottoman – a cheeky nod to the chalet’s name. A huge flatscreen TV provides entertainment on the nights when you choose to forgo the apres-ski fun of Echoland and opt for a movie night instead. For added convenience, there is another lounge room located downstairs. This room is easily accessible from all six bedrooms. It features a comfy sofa and a large TV for bingeing on your favourite shows – what more could you ask for!

Dining Room

The dining room is also located upstairs, just across the hall from the lounge room. This space is also surrounded by full wall glass, allowing guests to enjoy views of Hakuba’s wintry wonders while dining. The dining room features two marble top tables surrounded by 16 cowhide chairs – another nod to the chalet’s quirky moniker. A sleek island lined with four bar stools separates the dining area from a modern open-plan kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with all the essentials, including a Frigidaire cooktop and an extra-large oven.

The Moo features six bedrooms which are all located on the ground floor. The rooms are decorated in fresh modern style with a colour palette that relies on crisp white and edgy black. The bedding arrangements are very flexible as five rooms can be set up either with a king-sized bed or two singles, and one room features two sets of bunk beds.

The Moo is a six-bedroom chalet that’s built over two floors. The ground floor houses all six bedrooms, a lounge room and ski room. The upper floor houses the living and dining areas.

Your stay is made enjoyable by the professional staff who have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly hospitality.

Property Manager

The chalet’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the chalet. The property manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

Our chalets in Japan often have housekeeping 1 – 2 times per week depending on the property. Each chalet will have their own cleaning schedule.

The Moo is located in Hakuba, Japan, where the chalet sits in the Echoland neighbourhood. It is positioned in a peaceful, residential area yet just two blocks from the main street. Here, you’ll find a selection of great little eateries and cafes, including Sounds Like Café, Penguin Café and Miyama Genghis Khan. The Hakuba ski valley features 10 ski resorts and over 200 ski runs. The slopes at Happo One are just a five-minute drive from the chalet. Hakuba 47 and Goryu are both about 10 minutes away.
