The Sandals is a rare find – a luminous white beach house built right on the water’s edge, offering prime access to a near-deserted beach on the west coast of Sri Lanka. The Sandals Living
The Sandals is characterised by fresh tones of white and blue in the décor, framed by tropical greens and aqua blue on the outside. Besides the photogenic décor, the villa offers a sensational locale with easy access to a one-kilometre stretch of beach which you’ll often have all to yourself.
Living Room
The living room is decorated using the villa’s signature shade of white with full-wall glass looking out to the pool, garden and the ocean beyond. The room is furnished with a white sofa, arm chairs and a glass-topped coffee table, with beautifully chosen design pieces adding interest to the light toned space. A satellite TV, DVD player, iPod dock and a collection of boardgames provide in-villa entertainment when needed.
Dining Room
The dining area is framed by full-wall windows, allowing guests to dine with views looking out to the surrounding beauty. The villa also includes a fully-equipped kitchen.

The villa is blessed with a spectacular beachfront locale, with a near-deserted beach waiting right in your backyard. Before digging your toes in the sand, stop for a dip in the villa’s dreamy blue pool, surrounded by green lawns and palm greens swaying in the ocean breeze.

The Sandals is a five-bedroom villa, with two rooms located by the pool and three bedrooms positioned upstairs. Four bedrooms are fitted with king-sized beds and one room features two single beds. The rooms are light and luminous in their design and each includes a well-appointed ensuite bathroom.

The Sandals Layout
The Sandals is a five-bedroom villa that’s built over two floors. The ground floor houses the living and dining areas and two bedrooms. There are three more bedrooms on the upper floor. There is a private swimming pool positioned between the villa and the beach.
The Sandals Staff
Your stay in The Sandals is made enjoyable by the professional staff. The Sandals’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly hospitality.
Villa Manager
The Sandals’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.
Butlers
Butlers are on hand every day to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.
Chef
The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.
Security
It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.
Location
The Sandals is located in Balapitiya on the west coast of Sri Lanka. The villa offers a spectacular locale right on the doorstep of a one-kilometre long beach which you and your companions will often have all to yourselves. The setting feels serenely exclusive, away from the tourist trail. The UNESCO-protected Galle Fort which dates back to the 16th century is about an hour’s drive down the coastline.

Recently stayed at Sandals by Edwards Collection with my family and the location and accommodation were incredible. The property was incredibly clean and the room had a amazing sea view. The property backs out onto the beach which was great for a morning stroll. We were lucky enough to have had the property to ourselves for the duration of our stay. The staff were incredibly accommodating and made sure all our needs were met. They were very flexible and were helpful for our dietary requirements and requests.
The team were also helpful in providing insightful advice about the surrounding areas and helping us to arrange transport to various locations. The attention to detail in all aspects of the service was great. This was by far the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The food was amazing – we had breakfast here everyday and some dinners (thank to the chef Lakshita!). Thank you very much to Lakshita, Nadeeshsa and the rest of the team. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Wonderful experience, Amazing staff
We had the most wonderful stay at the Sandals by Edwards at Balapitiya. We are three sisters who were looking for a brief getaway from Colombo. This villa met all our requirements. The setting by the beach was amazing. We were impressed with the property and the amenities it had to offer. Most importantly the staff made our stay a memorable one. They made us welcome from the start and Nadeesha,Pubudu, Krishan and Pathum were exceptionally good.Nothing was too much trouble for them. We felt like we were in paradise.

I’ve recently had the pleasure of staying at Sandals by Edwards Collection! The staff there are amazing, really friendly. The place was super clean, and the views were amazing.

Great Stay
Recently we stayed at one of Edwards Collections’ properties in Balapitiya called the Sandals. We booked it in August as the pictures on their website looked quite promising. It is a beautiful property with 5 bedrooms. We loved our rooms though. They were beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Also, they provided us with unlimited amounts of Ceylon tea throughout our stay which made us very happy, great stay.

We loved our stay at sandals. The place is situated right by Galle Road, a five-bedroom villa in a 40-45 perch property- directly facing the beach Superb access to the beach although the beach is quite rocky in the Balapitya area the view was breathtaking. It’s a small property, and despite the proximity to the main road, all sounds are drowned by the sound of the sea! We liked our room-we was upgraded to the larger suite and it was amazing. The staff was gold! They were at our beck and call, and the meals were prepared well and really good! The menu is a tad limited but our stay was just 3 days so we had options to pick from The reservations managers checked on us constantly before and during the trip to ensure everything was smooth Overall, great stay.

Beautiful place, with friendly and polite staff, Perfect ending to our holiday. This place itself is great with its white surfaces and a nice pool where you actually can make some laps. There is also a natural pool at the beach which is perfect for cooling in the sea. Dream hotel in paradise
The hotel was a dream. A very tasteful villa in the middle of paradise. The great well-kept garden with a great pool and a beautiful view of the sea. The staff was very courteous and tried hard. We had a wonderful dinner right on the beach. The hotel is very clean and well furnished. The prices for food and drinks are very good. We were happy to pay the price for this experience. We can highly recommend the hotel.

Wonderful stay, excellent team!
A wonderful property which, much to our surprise, we had to ourselves for almost the entirety of our stay. It’s a wonderful location, right on a stunning beach, and within 5 minutes walk of another equally stunning second beach. Our room was directly by the pool, with garden / sun-lounging furniture positioned just a few steps away in beautifully maintained, palm-shaded green gardens overlooking the sea. The staff was wonderful – so accommodating and friendly.

This place is absolutely stunning! We had a wonderful, intimate wedding at the beach there. The staff is the friendliest we have met in all of Sri Lanka. And you can truly feel that they honestly mean it. It was absolutely perfect! The Boutique Hotel is stunningly beautiful, very well-kept, and clean. The interior and the artwork are amazing! and the artist who made all the paintings works there! (if you want to get a painting from him, just ask the staff)
