The Well House Living
The Well House is set over a half an acre of tropical land, with the beach waiting within a short stroll. The villa is divided into three pavilions: the main house, the guest house and the terrace room.
Living Room
The generous veranda wrapping around the villa works as a breezy alfresco living room. The veranda is generously furnished with plush sofas and armchairs, with views overlooking the surrounding gardens.
Dining Room
The Well House’s dining table is also located on the open-sided veranda and can comfortably seat all six guests. The villa includes a well-equipped kitchen.
Garden & Pool
The Well House’s tropical gardens include a private swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers.

The Well House Staff
Your stay in The Well House is made enjoyable by the professional staff. The Well House’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly hospitality.
Villa Manager
The Well House’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.
Housekeeping
You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.
Chef
The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.
Security
It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.
Location
The Well House is located in Unawatuna on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The villa is located within a one-minute walk from the beach and the fabulous Coco Bay resort. The beautiful Unwatuna Beach is also within a quick five-minute drive from the villa. There are a few great restaurants and cafes within a short drive, including The Shack Beach Café and Jina’s Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant. The Well House is located within a 20-minute drive from the UNESCO-protected Galle Fort.

Villa was very well laid out and gardens beautifully maintained. Location was decent – close to Galle Fort and beaches a short tuk tuk ride away. The staff were excellent and took care to create a lovely vibe at sunset (candles lit) and fresh flowers laid out every day which was lovely. The service was so attentive and the staff were extremely helpful and great with our kids. The food was also very tasty and plentiful, breakfasts were delicious – lots of fresh fruit and juices and dinner was well thought out and delicious – also very flexible with kids. I would recommend if you are looking for good option to explore Galle Fort but also some other attractions close by – swimming with turtles etc.

This lovely house is tucked away behind the beach so there are no views and potentially loads of insects being next to a bit of jungle. It is well set out with 2 bedrooms in the main house and another 2 in a separate part of the garden. All bedrooms have an ensuite and toiletries provided and are spacious and well-presented.
The staff was great and the meals were generous and tasty, catering to both spicy adults and non-spicy children. The pool was adequate and they provided body boards and towels for us to visit the beaches. The nearby beach 20m away across the road is not one you’d swim in so you have to travel to get to a swimming beach. A handy location, particularly if you have a driver, as it’s part way between Galle Fort and the Unawatana beaches and shops.

Great place. Superb service and great food. The place is just ideal for a group of people. We went with two other families and the kids had a blast! The beach is just outside the property. Not the best beach but the kids had a blast and it’s good to just get into the water. it’s not a white sand beach but nice.. our overall experience was just great! The rooms and the property are well-maintained. Two out of the four rooms are interconnected. I will recommend this property to a group of people traveling together.

I am an older somewhat handicapped guy who has trouble with stairs. The staff was right there to help the minute I stepped out of the car. The food and service were both excellent. They also served us coffee and tea any time we requested it. The room was comfortable and clean. They had a nice pool which I wanted to try had we not been so busy. The colonial-style villa has an interesting history and features very well-maintained and stylishly furnished rooms. It also has a beautiful private garden and is within walking distance of the beach. The location is quiet and Galle can be reached in around 10 minutes by taxi. Various tours can be organized from the Well House – e.g. to the Yala National Park, Udawalawe National Park, or various beaches in the south of the island.

“Amazing villa!”
This place is such a little hidden gem. We stayed for 3 nights but could have spent a whole week here.
The location is great, just a 10 minute tuk tuk ride to all of the beaches and in a quiet area. The surrounding beaches are really good with good places. Not that you need to eat out as the chef will cook you some amazing food here. Traditional or not.
Our room was beautiful. It was so spacious we had an area to watch tv and an area to read. We loved sitting with the double doors wide open. The decor makes it feel very luxurious which we really loved.
The garden and pool are lovely always so clean and well maintained. You could spend days here just relaxing or catching some sun.
It really was faultless. We highly recommend.

“Peaceful and full of charm. Pool perfect for family volleyball!”
We had a three night stay at The Well House in April 2018. We were worried about the location but the house is peaceful and beautifully decorated by its Norwegian owner.
There were 7 of us as we were on holiday with my inlaws and they kindly put a proper extra bed in one of the rooms for us. The Chef was also excellent. Near to Galle Fort and Wijaya beach.

“Perfect”
Wonderful house. Nice big garden, close to beach but with own pool. We had most of our dinners in the house, prepared by the staff. Tasteful and good. If you want to dine out, there is a famous hotel with good kitchen just a minute away, Coco Bay hotel. We recommend The Well house for those who young and old people. We miss it already and hope to come back again sometime.
