VILLA AMARU

Villa Amaru overlooks the Ayung River gorge with breathtaking views of Bali’s volcano range and distant rice field terraces. The architect Made Wijaya was inspired by Arne Hasselquist’s “David Bowie House” in Mustique, with pavilions that seemingly float on top of water throughout the property.

Villa Amaru provides its guests with a combination of privacy, serenity and recreation. The villa comprises 4 bedrooms, which have a neo-colonial design; similar to that of the Dutch baronial guest houses which were in the Malay hill stations. The interior of the villa was crafted with great care, with different atmospheres in each of the bedrooms, interspersed with tranquil and airy living areas. Local sculptor Pintor Sirait worked on the suspended staircase and porte-cochere and Ubud-born artist Wayan Cemul carved all the bases of the stilt houses near the swimming pool.

Living Room

Villa Amaru has an enclosed living area with sliding glass doors that look out to the garden. You can open louvred wooden shutters to let in the cool breeze or you can close them for air-conditioned comfort.

Dining Room

Just next to the living area is an outdoor dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen beyond. The dining table can comfortably seat 8 guests.

Games Room

Villa Amaru has a games room on the top floor of one of the stilt houses featuring a billiard table.

Garden & Pool

Guests will definitely enjoy the peaceful gardens, the Ayung River below, the rice fields across the way and the distant volcanoes beyond.

Villa Amaru is positioned in a peaceful tropical water garden and has four bedrooms connected by covered walkways. The air-conditioned bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and decorated with a peaceful ambience.

Villa Amaru is designed around a water garden with pavilions on three sides: a Malay house, a Balinese Balé and a Baronial guesthouse inspired by the hill stations in Dutch colonial times.

Your stay in Villa Amaru is made enjoyable by the professional staff. Villa Amaru’s staff have been professionally trained and will do their utmost to please with their warm and friendly Balinese hospitality.

Villa Manager

Villa Amaru’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.

Butlers

Butlers are on hand everyday to assist with serving during meal times and attend to other guest requirements throughout your stay.

Set on the magnificent Sayan Ridge, Villa Amaru is surrounded by a jungle. It is only 10 minutes away from a well-known cultural town called Ubud. The villa sits right at the edge of the Ayung river gorge where guest can enjoy the beautiful views of coconut palms, emerald rice fields and the verdant tropical vegetation. It is roughly 500 meters south of the famous Four Seasons Ubud Hotel and it will take you one hour to get to Bali’s international airport.

Ubud is well known for its fine arts, traditional dances and music. The town has both European and local artists and writers. In fact, Ubud draws people such as celebrities, art collectors, connoisseurs and people interested in alternative medicines, nature, architecture and anthropology.
