Location
Villa Asmara is situated about 100m away from the sea on Bali’s south-west coast in Canggu, just beyond the sleepy village of Cemagi. The glistening black volcanic-sand shores and rocky outcrops are also home to the small, but picturesque sea temple of Pura Gede Luhur Batungaus. While strong currents make the water here unsuitable for swimming, there are plenty of rock pools to explore and seaside walks to be had.
This is the perfect environment to take a stroll or bike ride through the surrounding rice fields and experience the traditional Balinese way of life; you are bound to witness a village ceremony or two as you explore.
Despite its rural setting, the villa is only 50 minutes’ drive from the many restaurants and shops of cosmopolitan Seminyak. The world famous Echo Beach is also within easy reach (10 minutes by car), where guests can enjoy the laidback surfer vibe, an ice-cold beer and some incredible sunsets.
Canggu Travel Guide
It’s official – Canggu is the coolest area in Bali. This seaside community has shed its provincial skin and has in recent years emerged as a thriving hub of surfers, expats, digital nomads and style savvy travellers. From hipster chic vibes to a thriving surf scene and endless creative flair, Canggu is the place to be for all that’s hip and happening in Bali.

Amazing secret hideaway in bali
This was our first time to Bali and were so glad we stayed away from the hustle of Seminyak & Kuta. The staff at Villa Asamara were so kind and friendly and made this holiday so relaxing for us. One day my husband walked into town and one of the girls working at the villa saw him and took him on the back of her motorbike and didnt want any payment for it, very kind. Marti really made an effort and you just felt relaxed just listening to him, the chef also made up the best meals while we were there and found we enjoyed it most when we left it up to her to come up with what to have the night for dinner, the best was a curry she made up one night, so tasty. Would defiantly recommend staying here

Coming home in Bali !
We had a wonderful stay in Villa Asmara. The staff is really kind and helpful! They give you a real ‘homecoming feeling’. The villa itself is very spacious and offers a lot of privacy. There are 2 master suites and 2 regular rooms. Everyday towels are changed and the rooms are cleaned. The garden is well maintained by the gardener. The citycenter of Cemagi is 15 km and from the airport it’s 25 km. The meals cooked by the chef kok are very delicious. The menu has western, Indonesian and vegetarian dishes, but she is also open to new suggestions. I think it’s perfect for a relaxing vacation for families!

Celebration Weekend Getaway
A wonderful place to spend the weekend for our son’s teen birthday celebration weekend with his many friends. The upstairs media room and the bedroom beside the pool table was the perfect place for all the teens to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. They loved the house and facilities. Staff helped us decorate the living / pool area with fairy lights, disco balls and bunting to give a more festive atmosphere. The pool was a fun play ground for everyone! So close to beach for walks, and we enjoyed the tennis court too. The cook prepared all our meals so well, trying all my Guten free / dairy free recipes. Well done! :) Staff were super friendly and helpful. No request was too difficult. Improvements: Living room entrance flooded 2 X while we stayed due to no covered blind to pull down during heavy monsoon rains. This was uncomfortable while the rains were in full downpour. A very easily resolvable problem.

Fantastic Villa. Do yourself a favour and stay here.
Just spent 5 days at the Villa Asmara with friends. We loved it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a few meals cooked for us and they were divine. Make sure to ask the cook for suggestions and eat local Balinese food. She cooked the yummiest meals. The rooms were spacious, clean and exactly as the photos show. The Villa is approximately 40 minute drive from Kuta and only a short 10 minute drive to Echo Beach. We used the driver attached to the Villa and he was very accommodating. Do yourself a favour and book this villa. The peace and quiet are just what you are looking for.
