    A Real Vacation For Everyone

We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful villa. We were 7 family members, our 5 year old son stayed in our room that was the largest and they added one bed for some fee in this room. The villa is beautifully built and is clean and comfortable. The chef/ manager is gifted, the presentation of the food and table setting is beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful and they make sure you have everything you need.

The ocean is 5 minutes away and suitable for swimming while there is swimming pool with pioneering view towards the ocean.

We requested 2 masseuse to come to the villa. A lady and a gentleman came. I recommend the stone and steam massage with the man. The oil massage with the lady was ordinary.

We all had a great time and highly recommend this place. Thank you Madhura and team.

The Most Amazing Place I’ve Ever Stayed At!

Walatta House is an incredible place, absolutely perfect getaway house for a couple in love.

Once we arrived and saw the place, we decided to not leave the house and just indulge in everything it has to offer. And that’s a lot: a beautiful private room with a huge window looking at the pool (+ two more rooms that we didn’t use), garden and the ocean below, lush garden with a hammock, super comfortable chill area in the shade, amazing pool, private way to the beach, tasty food served the way you want it, and great staff that provided us with anything we could think of. Couldn’t wish for more, really! All we can think about since we left is how to come back once again.

    Paradise

This modern luxurious villa on top of a hill, overlooking the ocean, surrounded with palmtrees can only be described as paradise.

With Madura daily cooking delicious meals and two other staff members serving you tea and taking care of everything, there is not really a reason for you to leave the house.
Stroll down to the beautiful beach, cool down in the breathtaking infinity pool or just read a book in the open space lobby, Walatta House is a perfect place to take a break from the world and clear your mind.

Needless to say, the upkeep was perfect and the rooms spaceous with walk-in wardrobes and plant filled open air bathrooms.
The only downside of visiting this place is when you have to leave it behind.
Thanks again to Madura and his staff for taking such great care of us. We had an unforgettable experience.

Amazing House, Beautiful Spot, Wonderful People

Our stay at Walatta House exceeded all our expectations. The house and pool were perfect for our family of six and would surely be perfect for other groups. We loved the house and felt that our trip to Sri Lanka was greatly enhanced by both the house’s location and Madhura and his team’s accommodating nature.

Madhura was an excellent chef and made us delicious meals of various curries and other local dishes, and was extremely efficient in the organisation of trips to temples, whale watching and to Uda Walawe national park. On the morning of our whale watching trip he even made us breakfast before we left at 5am, and he was more than happy to teach the whole family how to make some of our favourites of his dishes as well as to show us the local fruit, vegetable and fish markets.

Siranga and his team kept the house and pool in perfect condition (which isn’t easy with four kids around!) and were always charming, kind and friendly to us. There were fresh flowers in the bedrooms which were kept tidy and clean, much like the rest of the house and garden.

We were doubtful, before we arrived, of whether we would be able to swim on the beach below the house, but the beach was safe and perfect on so may levels: it had a tyre swing, great snorkelling and hundreds of hermit crabs, as well the tracks of some extremely elusive turtles.

Wally the dog was also lovely and was always there to greet us when we got out of the van from a day trip or from tuk-tuks on visits to the closer landmarks and attractions near Walatta House. I would definitely recommend staying at Walatta House to anyone visiting Sri Lanka and would love to visit again in the future.

Impossible to Describe in One Sentence How Lovely This Place Is!

Everything about this place is perfect. The architectural design is breathtaking – blending seamlessly into the tropical landscape. The house (if that’s what you can call it) is so comfortable – we loved lounging on next to the pool and on the day bed overlooking the ocean. The bedrooms and bathrooms were gorgeously appointed, spacious and comfortable.

As you can tell from all the previous reviews, the absolute highlight was the service we received from Madhura, Suranga and team. Attentive, kind, discrete, and the most delicious food ever, it was like dining in a michelin star restaurant every night! I am counting down the days until we can go back and visit again.

Fantastic Location, Great Family Stay, Great Food

We stayed at the Walatta House with my three children for eight nights from the 26th December to the 4th January. We’ve been to Sri Lanka before so we were less interested in sightseeing and more in relaxing and enjoying the setting as well as the weather.

Walatta did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home by Madura and his team who had made the most fantastic Sri Lankan curry for our arrival. The accommodation is just wonderful as is the setting. The morning bird song, with the sound of the sea in the background, was just so relaxing and exactly what we were looking for. Madura’s cooking was something we looked forward to every evening and it was just lovely to relax after diner with the family together.

I can’t recommend it too highly. I’d also like to thank all the guys at Walatta for the fantastic new years eve celebration that they put on for us. It was great to have you there with us and we look forward to coming back one day.

    Amazing

We stayed at the Walatta House towards the end of our Sri Lankan trip.

The house exceeded our expectations – we loved the architecture. We were taken great care off by the team who organised the best Yoga, surfing and massages. But the real star was Madura, the chef and manager, by far the best food we’ve had on the trip. Be sure to ask for a cooking lesson!

Paradise in The Pearl of The Orient

We had a fantastic time at the Walatta House. I would start with saying that the house has 3 gems that stand out 1) The views and the house in itself 2) Mathura 3) Suranga.

We are a family of five and the house was perfect for us to spend time together. We had elaborate plans of sight seeing and eating out until the first morning. After spending an hour in the house we decided not to move out the 3 days we were there. Mathura cooked everything so beautifully. Everything was sprinkled with a lot of love and labour. No request of ours was difficult for him. He even taught us how to make symbol and how to cook lobsters.

Suranga also made sure that we were very well taken care of
The stretch of beach in front of the house is beautiful. There are different shades of sand and the stretch of water is also good to swim in unlike the rest of the Galle region.
The family of course fell in love with Wally and couldn’t get enough of her. We definitely cannot wait to visit again.

    “Quite simply stunning and unmissable!”

From the moment you walk down the steps into the hillside home, you are enchanted by the architecture and surrounds, with three stunning bedrooms surrounding an open area for lounging by the ample pool. And then the food starts…. Madura, the chef, previously worked as a chef at Nobu in Dubai and in the Maldives. His cooking is exquisite, but more importantly, nothing is too much trouble, even catering for this westerner’s tricky dietary requirements.

The other staff need no lessons in hospitality either, including Wally the loveable ex-Police dog, who enjoys nothing more than snuggling up to you are playing on the lush lawns. Our group of four had the house to ourselves, as is the usual deal, and while we only stayed three days, we agreed that it was the best part of our trip to Sri Lanka. It is a must!

    “Blissful from start to finish!”

The Walatta House is a very special place. Its garden leads straight onto a great little beach, the house is gorgeous and almost entirely outdoor except for the bedrooms meaning you are in and surrounded by nature the whole time and the staff are exceptional. I booked some time ago and was very worried about one terrible review a while ago… beach access was described as ‘beyond dangerous’ but we found a steepish slope but no danger at all.

We also found that many other points did not match up to our experience. We found the property was kept to an excellent standard and we were waited on hand and foot by Madura and his great team. Meals were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We did yoga overlooking the sea and enjoyed massages every other day – all organised by the team. We would go back in an instant!

Amazing villa and its surrounding and very nice, professional team to make your stay so memorable. Unfortunately I could spend only 2 days, but hopefully I return some day… Awesome location, views and sunsets on the nearby beaches. The pool is fantastic…wish I could stay longer…

The local team is incredible proffesional and friendly. They think on your individual needs before your arrival – really something that you do not face on other places…I do thank you for unforgettable stay…

“Walatta met all our expectations… and more”

Walatta met all our expectations and more. We’re a family of 4, 2 boys aged 5 and 7.

The architecture and design of the house was very special with a balanced mix of outdoor and indoor living, and the interiors are super stylish and functional.

The property is walking distance to a very private beach. There are some other holiday villas close by but the beach was not crowded at all. There is a very sweet bar at the beach for a late afternoon drink and fresh mussels.

The walatta staff were great. The food was outstanding. One morning we walked to a nearby beach to watch the fishing boats come in and the house chef (alwis) was down there selecting our fresh fish for the day.

We travelled to nearby beaches for some surfing and adventuring which was all very easy but to be honest we ended up just staying at the villa and enjoying it… our boys still talk about chasing the fireflies at night. We can’t recommend it enough if you’re wanting a relaxing and grounding holiday.
