Yama no Oto Overview

Yama no Oto (“sound of the mountain” in Japanese) captures everything we love about Hokkaido. This chalet is surrounded by forest and offers beautiful views of the mountain range. You feel wonderfully away from it all when relaxing by the fireside… but you’re also just a hop and a skip from the ski slopes and some great local restaurants. Yama no Oto is a fabulous homebase for exploring Furano, whether you’re bringing an entourage or travelling with a small group. This versatile property can be booked as a spacious five-bedroom chalet or squared off into two smaller units – whatever your group needs. Yama no Oto Living

Yama no Oto draws inspiration from its serene natural surroundings and gives it a modern designer twist. The edgy chalet cuts an elegant figure amid the Hokkaido forest; its full wall windows offering soothing views of those very same trees. While the chalet can be booked as two separate units, we prefer it as a whole. Having two living and dining areas at your disposal makes this the perfect place to entertain a large group without feeling crowded.

Living Room

This versatile chalet comes with two living areas: the main living room is on the top floor and another smaller lounge area is on the first floor. The main living room is a fabulous open plan space complete with a seating area, fireplace, large TV, and an adjoining dining area. The second living room is smaller in size but still offers all the essentials, including a relaxed lounge area and kitchen. Each living room is adjoined by a scenic terrace offering dreamy views of the snowy landscape.

Dining Room

Both of the living rooms feature a fully loaded kitchen and a well-appointed dining area. Up on the top floor, 10 guests can gather around a long dining table and enjoy beautiful snow-covered views while dining. The adjoining kitchen is fitted with all the essentials, making entertaining a breeze. The downstairs living area features a relaxed kitchen setup for preparing meals, with seating available for up to four guests.
