Phuket’s Millionaire’s Mile certainly lives up to its grand moniker. Besides being home to the most lavish and exclusive villas on the island, this curvy road which darts through lush tropical trees offers the most amazing ocean views. In fact, describing them as million-dollar views might just be an understatement.
One of the villas perched along this scenic strip is Villa Solaris. For a few fabulous nights, this three-storey villa – which boasts a pool on every floor – became our home-from-home.
Wondrous Views
As we entered the villa, stepping stones floating over a decorative pond led us out to the poolside terrace. Before exploring the villa any further, we simply had to pause here to take it all in – the views are simply that stunning. Perched on a lush hilltop and gazing over the Andaman Sea, the views seem to go on forever. It felt like being on top of the world; almost close enough to touch the villa’s namesake sun.
After we got our bearings, we discovered more than one lounge area to relax in. There is a stunning glass encased lounge on the entrance level where we enjoyed our meals and rendezvoused before heading out to explore the island. We did, however, find ourselves gravitating to the downstairs living and entertainment areas when we just wanted to relax and enjoy the villa. Which brings us to our next point…
Though Villa Solaris is obviously stunning, it’s clear that the villa was also designed for comfort. Perhaps the most thoughtful feature of all is the lift that takes you from the entrance level to the floor below, so everyone can move about the villa with ease. After navigating countless steps in many a clifftop villa (we personally inspect all the villas we list), this was a very nice touch.
Perfect for a Special Occasion
It was obvious from the get-go that Villa Solaris has some real wow factor. Besides offering spectacular views and winning design, the villa is also luxuriously private. I could definitely see marking a special occasion here– maybe a major anniversary or a big family reunion.
Facing west, the villa also enjoys the most amazing sunset views – the perfect backdrop for cocktail hour or a full-on feast.
Seamless Service
Villa Solaris has a full-time team of staff to look after your every need, including a villa manager, chef and housekeeping staff. The chef was great, and we enjoyed delicious Thai meals that were beautifully presented. There is a menu you can choose from, though the staff is also happy to accommodate any specific requests you may have.
Wellness & Relaxation
Every time we visit Thailand, I have one to-do item that’s non-negotiable: getting a fabulous massage! Luckily, it was very easy to tick off this box at Villa Solaris. The villa has a designated spa room, and the staff can organise an expert masseuse whenever you feel like it. All I had to do was to show up and enjoy.
Conveniently, there’s also a gym right next to the spa room which has all the essentials: a stationary bike, treadmill, cross-trainer and some free weights. It was great to be able to squeeze in a quick workout between all that pad Thai and sticky rice!
Though a night out on nearby Bangla Road is always good fun, we found ourselves staying in most nights. The villa’s private cinema was simply too good to resist.
Bedtime Bliss
Villa Solaris has four bedrooms which all deserve master suite status as they all offer amazing ocean views even before getting out of bed. Overall, the bedrooms are very spacious, modern and well equipped. Two rooms even connect to their own swimming pools! All rooms come with gorgeous spa style bathrooms. The ocean view bathtubs are yet another highlight.
Panoramas, Privacy & Proximity
Kamala is a wonderful place to stay. Cocooned in the privacy of our hilltop villa really felt like being in a world of our own. When we felt like leaving this cushy bubble, all of Phuket’s delights were just a few minutes away.
Heading south, you can check out the lively scene on Bangla Road and do some shopping at Jungceylon Mall. However, we’re more partial to the laidback scene in Kamala Beach – a 10-minute drive up the coast. The beach is beautiful and offers great restaurants and beach clubs. But honestly, nothing can compare to what’s waiting at home in Villa Solaris!
