The Chalets at Country Resort is a large estate where properties range from cosy two-bedroom houses to substantial six-bedroom abodes. The chalets focus on functionality. These are not avant-garde or design-forward properties but highly liveable chalets where you can kick back, relax, and catch some z’s before and after hitting the slopes.
We stayed in Wakoto which is one of their two-bedroom premium chalets. The thing we loved most was the sense of ease. The chalet was warm, spacious, and inviting – a wonderful place to return to after spending all day out in the snow. The fully fitted kitchen, laundry machine, and carport made it very easy to be self-sufficient.
Let’s Get Cooking
As we knew that Country Resort was a little out of town, we did some grocery shopping before checking in. Our chalet had a great kitchen with all the pots and pans we needed, plus a coffee machine, rice cooker and more. With such a great kitchen setup, we would definitely recommend doing a grocery run and taking advantage of the kitchen.
If you do have a sudden urge for dining out, the estate also has a highly rated Japanese restaurant, Ezo.
Space & Flexibility
Our two-bedroom chalet had the bedrooms on different floors, so everyone had the privacy they needed. The beds could be set up either as kings or two singles. The same goes for most chalets in the estate which means there’s plenty of flexibility for different groups. Many of the chalets also come with bunk rooms which are perfect for kids and teens.
So Many Options
Our two-bedroom chalet was just the right fit for our small group. The great thing about this estate is that they have a whole range of chalets that cater to groups of all sizes. If you have more people staying, a five-bedroom chalet like Kinokawa or a six-bedroom option like Sahama (a personal favourite) might be perfect for you.
The estate is nice and quiet, and the snow-covered trees are very pretty. With so much space to run and play, we could see why these chalets are so popular with families.
Easy Living at the Estate
The Chalets at Country Resort are positioned about 15 minutes outside of Hirafu Village which means you need some wheels to get around. To arrange a shuttle to Hirafu, you can simply dial the front office. The shuttle will pick you up from your chalet and drop you into town where you can hit the slopes, visit the restaurants, or do a bit of shopping.
We felt very well catered for by the onsite team who were only a phone call away whenever we had a question. Staying in an estate where the management team is on hand to look after you is particularly nice when you’re staying on the other side of the world. Our whole stay was completely hassle-free. This is just what you want on a ski holiday so you can give your undivided attention to those fabulous slopes!
