Villa El Cielo Building | Hakuba, Nagano

Welcome to Wadano

Villa El Cielo is nestled amid the trees in Wadano, a prestigious neighbourhood dotted with some of the most coveted chalets in the Hakuba Valley. The property looks right at home amid its prestigious neighbours.

We could immediately see that this was one of those wow properties; a chalet that really captures the experience we’re all looking for when planning our winter travels. And it really doesn’t hurt that the ski lifts are less than 200 metres away.

Beautiful Bedrooms & A Next-Level Bath

We didn’t have to fight over the bedrooms as all four rooms are beautiful. There are a few unique features though.

One room has a little loft area above it which would be a fun area for kids to play in. Another room doubles as the media room during the day. When it’s time for bed, a Murphy bed folds out from the wall.

The coolest feature, however, was waiting in the primary bathroom. Not only does this bathtub offer beautiful views of the forest but it’s actually digitally temperature controlled. This means you can set the temperature of the water to your liking and the water is then circulated to maintain your ideal temperature. You can even open up one of the windows to get a feeling of that cold winter air without chilling your bath out too quickly. How cool is that!

Lofty Living

Having stayed in hundreds of villas around the world, we feel confident in saying that Villa El Cielo has one of the most attractive living rooms in the world. The space has a sky-high ceiling, with huge full wall windows looking out to delicious forest views all year round.

We were lucky enough to see several snowy days. Every day we were here, it snowed outside, and we would put the fireplace on and just enjoy the ambiance. The fireplace is positioned in a corner with glass on two sides which gives it a really cool and unique look.

We really liked that the chalet has a separate media room next to the main living room. This means anyone who wanted to watch TV or play a game had their own space to do so while the rest of us could discuss the runs of the day in the other room.

A Modern Masterpiece

The longer we stayed, the clearer it became that Villa El Cielo is a modern masterpiece. When you look closer, you see the inspired mix of materials: black anodized aluminium, natural stone, and a variety of timber used in the flooring, wall panelling and ceilings. Modern touches like indirect lighting and flawlessly chosen furniture add to this winning approach.

It’s that quintessentially contemporary chalet that makes everyone go gaga. It certainly had that effect on us.
