What’s happening for Christmas in Bali in 2014?

If you’re coming to Bali during Christmas, don’t worry about missing the celebrations back home. There are plenty of options to celebrate Christmas and even see in the new year celebrations if you have a long enough trip planned.

The month of December brings glitter, tinsel and presents if you are still under 10. The holiday season in Bali has a myriad of options for families looking for something to do on Christmas Day.

So here is what’s on for Christmas Day

Hu’u Bali in Petitenget, which has just been renovated is hosting a special dinner menu on Christmas Eve to celebrate with family and kids. Enjoy a wide range of international and traditional dishes. Kids will get a chance to meet and greet Santa so that should keep them quiet for an hour while you try out the new cocktail menu. It’s wise to make a reservation. Prices start at IDR 550K plus taxes.

Ku De Ta is having a special family day with activities for the young and old. Children can enjoy decorating the Christmas tree, hat and sock making classes along with trying their hand at decorating the cookies and cupcakes. Prices for a four course luncheon are IDR 950K adults | Children IDR 350K.

Chez Gado Gado with its classy lounging area is perfectly positioned for those who love admiring the pink sunsets in Seminyak. Indulge in a classically inspired a la carte menu on Christmas Day with favourites such as prawn cocktail, mushroom risotto, traditional roasted turkey and a Christmas bread pudding to end on a sweet note. Add some wine to go along with it!

Cocoon-Beach Club in Seminyak has a delicious lunch menu with all time Christmas favorites being served. Your little gremlins with love being entertained by elves followed by an afternoon swimming in the pool. The beachfront bar has a very cool vibe and the perfect spot for people watch too. The DJ will kick off with Christmas classics and who knows what he will be mixing up on the decks into the early hours. Entry in AUD $85 | Children AUD $33.

Finn’s Beach Club celebrate Christmas on the beach with feet in the sand and a cocktail in hand at the Semara Resort beach bar. Finn’s is hosting a Christmas lunch buffet along with DJ Andre and gifts from Santa. Adults USD 99++ with free flow of drinks | Children USD 33++

Mozaic Beachclub for those who prefer staying away from the crowd, you can enjoy fine dining with panoramic ocean views in Batubelig. They have a special Christmas Eve dinner, a Christmas Day lunch and Boxing Day lunch and dinner special. The beautiful Nita Aartsen will be performing for Christmas dinner, with Santa Claus in the house and a children’s menu available. Lunch starts from Adults IDR 600K++ | Children IDR 400K++ Dinner starts from IDR 800K++.

W Hotel If you love celebrating in style, look no further than The W Hotel in Seminyak. Their beachfront restaurant and bars have incredible dining specials for Christmas and NYE. The Starfish Bloo restaurant is hosting a Pan-Asian holiday degustation menu with endless options of sushi & oysters; dim sum, BBQ lobster, salmon and carvings of ham or turkey. Prices for Christmas Eve dinner are IDR 850K++ pp and for Christmas Day Brunch IDR 1100K++ pp.

Bridges if you’re staying in Ubud during Christmas, you can enjoy a festive lunch or dinner at  Bridges with the special December menu. They have an extensive selection of wines, cocktails and champagne.

Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort bring in the joy of Christmas while dining under the stars with amazing ocean views. Theey have a multitude of options to feast upon. Choose a Fish feast or celebrate with the best New Zealand whites from the house of Villa Maria.

Petitenget Restaurant is organising a Christmas lunch with fun activities for kids – horse and cart rides, games with Santa, Christmas crackers, gingerbread house and more. Price for adults 660k with special kids menu at 200K.

A great option for wine lovers is to celebrate the festive season at Vin+ Seminyak. They have over 300 wines and spirits to choose from along with a special five course menu for Christmas. Price IDR 700K ++ per person.

Don’t let your little ones miss out on the action! Cubby House Kids Club at Semara Resort in Seminyak has a special Christmas Party on 21st December from 1pm – 5pm. The price per child is IDR 125K++ per child, which includes yummy food, games, activities and gifts from Santa. They also have a special poolside BBQ on Christmas Eve for AUD 31++ pp.

Another interesting event for kids is the Christmas party at Cheeky Monkeys Learning Centre in Sanur. Mums can relax as the kids participate in fun activities like Christmas tree decoration, sock making, decorating cookies and singing Xmas carols. From AUD $7 per child, free for adults.

For a great family celebration, you can enjoy a traditional buffet lunch at the Canggu Club along with special entry to the Splash Water Park. Make sure you get your tickets early before they are sold out.

If you feel like re-creating the magic of celebrations at home, you can do so in the serene ambience of your private villa. You can order a turkey for a special Christmas meal from the Gourmet Cafe.

Request the villa chef to organise a special BBQ lunch or dinner and don’t forget to stock up before the big day or you might miss out.
