You Had Me at Hello
The staff won us over right on arrival by asking a simple question: would we like to enjoy our welcome drinks in the resort’s stylish lobby or go straight to our villa? After a long flight or simply a day spent out and about, it’s wonderful to be offered to go straight “home” to your villa where you can check in, have a welcome drink and simply relax.
The villas themselves were definitely designed to impress. Layar means sail in Indonesian – a nod to the villas’ elegantly angled roof design.
A Foodie’s Paradise
One of the undeniable highlights of staying at The Layar is the food. It’s quite telling that we had dinner at the resort’s Italian restaurant, Settimo Cielo… and then went back for lunch the next day! We enjoyed hearty Italian meals, a few glasses of wine – and had an absolutely smashing time.
Other than that, we took our meals in the villa. Enjoying made-to-order gourmet meals by your own private pool really makes it feel like you’re on holiday. On our first morning, the team even setup a floating breakfast in the pool! It really is as cool as Instagram makes it out to be.
Superb Service
The Layar has Balinese hospitality down to an art. From butlers to housekeeping and 24-hour security, the service is attentive and amiable yet never intrusive. There’s a buggy service that’ll take you around the resort and the local area with ease.
You can enjoy fabulous meals and spa treatments right by the pool – all you have to do is ask. Wanting to work off some of the extra calories acquired at Settimo Cielo, we had a personal training session with Bodiku right on the lawn. It’s an irresistibly easy way to squeeze in a workout even while on holiday.
Lavish Bedrooms
The Layar features 23 villas offering 1,2,3 and 4 bedrooms. Each villa features a private pool and generous tropical gardens. We stayed in a three-bedroom villa. The bedrooms were incredibly spacious which meant we could all have the privacy we needed. The ensuite bathrooms were fabulous – who could resist those divine bathtubs!
Staying in…in Style
Without a question, The Layar has one of the best addresses in Seminyak. Eat Street with all its restaurants, shops and spas is about five minutes away on foot, and you can walk over to Ku De Ta in 15 minutes or so. Still, we found ourselves staying in most days… we simply couldn’t tear ourselves away from our gorgeous villa!
