Well, we’ve discovered that elusive nirvana in Lipa Noi on the island of Koh Samui. Welcome to Villa U!
Beachfront Perfection
It’s hard to describe Villa U’s location without it sounding like an exaggeration or full-on fiction. The villa sits smack dab on Lipa Noi Beach, one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in Koh Samui. The antithesis of overdevelopment, this blissful beach still maintains its natural charm and splendour.
To our utter delight, we discovered that Villa U more than matches its stunning surroundings. The villa is an architectural gem with high ceilings and full wall windows that let in an abundance of natural light. As we sat back in the villa’s air-conditioned lounge, the infinity edge of the pool seemed to blend with the ocean. It felt like the whole property was floating on water.
The whole villa has recently been renovated to a very modern standard. It offers all the comforts of city living, like a very grand home away from home.
Service with a Smile
Villa U is one of the most relaxing and comfortable places we have stayed in. The villa is run by a wonderful wife and husband team who obviously have great chemistry and are very in-sync, both with each other and with your needs and preferences as a guest. They looked after us with such care and hospitality, but also gave us space and privacy when needed.
The chef in particular is very accomplished. We enjoyed authentic Thai dishes and fresh seafood, and the setting only added to the experience. The villa’s dining room is fully encased in glass and gives that same amazing “floating on water” effect. When you get to share fabulous food and fabulous views with your favourite people, the experience really is next level.
Sweet Dreams & Ocean Views
Besides the sensational living areas (those high ceilings! those views!), Villa U features three bedrooms. The rooms are strategically positioned so that they all offer ocean views. We loved starting each new day by admiring those fabulous blue vistas from our balcony.
The bedrooms are beautifully designed and sublimely comfortable, offering the perfect setting for getting a fabulous night’s sleep. As our day to day lives can get so hectic, the ensuite Jacuzzi felt like a much-needed invitation to press pause – it was like having our own private spa.
Exploring Lipa Noi & Beyond
Lipa Noi is one of our favourite areas of Koh Samui and Villa U is the perfect spot for enjoying this hidden gem to the fullest. The beach is nice, calm and quiet – perfect for lazy walks or building sandcastles with the kids. Lipa Noi is definitely a more subdued area of the island, but there are still a few relaxed eateries and even a trendy beach club (Nikki Beach) within a 10-minute walk.
If you do find yourself craving more excitement, Koh Samui is such a compact island that day trips will be a breeze. You can easily explore the vibrant Friday market in Fisherman’s Village or enjoy a night out in buzzy Chaweng. There’s no need to worry about logistics either, as the villa staff can make all the arrangements for you and welcome you back “home” with a smile.
Final Verdict?
The picture above really says it all: Villa U is the place to stay when you want to be right on the beach and you want to have it all to yourself. As we discovered, it’s also the perfect place to recharge your batteries and spend some quality time with the people that matter the most.
